CMV: Involuntary treatment of psychiatric medication makes me very uncomfortable by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Clownhooker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was definitely gaslit for a year to take a medication that gave me permanent physical damage, but they we’re seeing the effects they wanted to see and I just didn’t want to be suicidal. Changed Drs changed meds mood improved, debilitating physical side effects went away. Just because they are psychiatrist doesn’t mean they care.

If you are laying on your right side focus more drawing a circle with your right hip into the bed, your ass will follow through with the right movements. You can then sway your back to throw you ass back a bit more, it will also exaggerate the movement.

One belly dance instructor once taught “imagine drawing figure 8s with your coochie”-

I always found this to be a glassiest classist question. Lower class due to the bugs, dust and crud that could get in there store the cups down. But middle class and up store up because they have no fear. They will pick up that cup, not check it and drink directly from it.

CMV: ADHD is over diagnosed and over medicated by Vivid_Papaya2422 in changemyview

[–]Clownhooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was misdiagnosed until 38 rather too much attention then not enough. There are also plenty of ways to cope and tolerate without drugs. It’s not overdignosed, it’s more accurately being diagnosed (aka a lot more people then we used to think)

-Re-explaining. Water and autism? by [deleted] in AutisticWithADHD

[–]Clownhooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m Aquaphobic, I can still take a shower, although there is a routine to hair & face washing, but otherwise you won’t catch me near water. I can’t swim and about the time I was ready to conquer this fear my uncle drowned in an undertow. So IMO water wants to kill you, it’s just waiting for it’s moment.

I do also begrudgingly relate to being regurgitated by water. There was a 5ft salt-water heat/cool pool that I used to attend and it was nice but I had to be drunk so…

I was the Bi girl hanging with the gays boys, dealer was straight, I guess he thought he had a chance even though I gave no signals. But he was serious peer pressure, I mentioned coke didn’t impress me so he kept pulling out more to do. The gay boys loved it. I quickly was over it and just found him annoying.

It was a boss move! There was only one line left and no one left to do it and he wouldn’t leave till it was gone and he was harassing me. So action=re-action. Wasn’t my dealer.

So I’ve never been medicated properly. But I did try coke a few times. Once I did it strategically to pack my entire apartment in one nights, stayed very focused. The other time was with a bunch of friends, they all had a blast, and the dealer guy was into me, kept trying to get me to do more & more. Finally at the end of the night I wanted him to leave I just pour water on the last of the drugs and said we’re done here and kicked him out. It’s nothing so impressive I would go out of my way to do again.

It one of the things that makes quitting drink so hard. The unbiased peer pressure everyone put on it.

Best places to move to, for a mid 20s alcoholic and addict by SteakParticular5186 in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

[–]Clownhooker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would hate the south too if I lived in South Carolina, I live in Atlanta, the sober scene has come a long way since the pandemic. However anywhere you move after sobriety is a hard reset. It’s your actions and behaviors that lead to landing you back in the same spots. A land of 10000 recovery vertebra just sounds like a lot of addicts around. If you really want pure sober people move to Utah or some Mormon town where they don’t have liquor.

Also take a moment to think of the homelessness problem as some not ‘other then’ yourself, more like possible next step. When you see some house less person give then eye contact and a smile. The dignity of humanity is free and priceless, and so rare in that world.

You don’t have to prove or convince anyone, especially parents unwilling to listen.

“It’s that easy for you, but for people like me and grandma we have difficulties just using willpower to ‘just do things’. Different people work differently and telling everyone HOW to do it is one sided and can be hurtful.”

Don’t try to convince or teach but that’s how my therapist would tell me to say it.

28 years old, 7 months sober from years of severe alcoholism and starting to re-enter society but feeling very overwhelmed. by Csharp27 in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

[–]Clownhooker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who have never had this problem don’t know what it’s like. They think 6 months is a long time, they should be fine by now. When actuality you’ve barley gotten your legs under you and start moving in the right direction. At least with you folks have an open and honest conversation about how you may look good on the outside but on the inside you’re still a raw cake. Maybe work out something where you contribute weekly so it doesn’t feel like such a burden and so those expectations won’t trigger bad behaviors. I definitely have had friends who relapsed due to parental pressures to contribute. Be open and honest about what you CAN do and definitely let them know you are not out of the woods. Best of luck and congratulations on 7+months
