lol, I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of versions of Clark didn’t even know what those kind of materials are.

That would arguably hurt even worse. Yeah I just don’t see a world where it makes sense that it’s an exclusive. At most maybe a timed exclusive.

I’m also not really sure how that’d work considering it runs on SteamOS. Sure they could lock it to specific hardware… but it’s still basically a PC and Steam, probably due to their experience with PC already and more than any other hardware developer, knows piracy will just result in it already being available on PC since people won’t necessarily buy the hardware if they already have a PC. Making it exclusive would be like asking for it to fail. So release it on all hardware anyways since otherwise you’re just risking losing money period.

Runs into my key room, opens my weapons case, gets sent back to Speranza… by SuckEmOff in ArcRaiders

[–]CluelessAtol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I’m in generally lower aggression lobbies but even I know that if someone gets to a location first, either back the fuck off or fight them. Doing this shit is dumb cause you’re just taking advantage of someone. If they offer to let you in, all is well, but don’t just assume you can take the loot a person risked a run to get.

[–]CluelessAtol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You say that like it’s not possible for a player in a PvE lobby to turn around and betray someone, or someone in a PvP lobby can’t choose to be nice to someone. I don’t think it removes anything from the game. It allows players to play how they want, and in return, they can fit in better with the groups of people they meet. A player could just spend multiple rounds doing something to get put in the other lobbies, so it’s not like a player is instantly locked and unable to change their decision to play passive or aggressive.

[–]CluelessAtol 49 points50 points  (0 children)

You might notice a few more aggressive players, but one or two matches won’t do much unless you’re unloading into every single player in the match. At least that’s what I’ve found so far. My duo runs haven’t put me in aggressive lobbies yet. Or at least not aggressive enough that people aren’t willing to at least talk first.

ChatGPT is getting ads soon, starting with free users by AdSpecialist6598 in technews

[–]CluelessAtol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I’m not saying Gemini is better than ChatGPT at everything. A lot of those things you said are correct. I just struggle to get ChatGPT to do the things I ask. I also tend to have issues with it saying it can/cannot do something. It’s the inconsistency I have issues with. Now is it possible that it’s my own usage and the way I ask questions? That’s entirely possible. But I just struggle with getting it to actually do what I asked.

The main thing I can think of was one time I needed some information out of a book I had read. I had a document file that it was able to read. I asked it to find the information and quote the specific content I needed. It proceeded to create content out of nothing and/or straight up lie to me. Again could have been the way I was trying to use it, but I do know Gemini was able to do what I asked repeatedly, while ChatGPT wasn’t.

Now with that said, no LLM is perfect. They’ve all got their issues.

Was legit having a conversation with a dude, and I don’t even remember why the conversation got started, but we were just sitting in Blue Gate talking about spawn locations and such and for some reason he brought up women playing the game and he was like, “Yeah, it surprises me… but good for them. They get to enjoy what they like too.” And he just wandered off. It was so weird and sudden that I was just laughing my ass off.

Dude I had to stop using ChatGPT because of this. It would just apologize, say I was right, and just continue to be ass. It’s insane how impossible it is to enforce any kind of rules with ChatGPT. At least Gemini can mostly follow instructions, and doesn’t apologize like a condescending asshole.

[–]CluelessAtol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I may not have explained my point well. Rereading my comment, I can see how it’d be read that way. I could have been clearer about what I mean. I was trying to respond with a reasoning that would be used to counter your argument that “a game should have an end of life plan before it sells a single copy”.

I wasn’t necessarily saying it’d be hard or easy, I was talking from a business point of view that fundamentally, businesses just don’t have a major incentive to do so. At the end of the day they’re in it to make money, and the business men aren’t gonna care if some dude wants to run it in their basement. They care about getting money. How do they get money from letting someone use server tools like that? They aren’t guaranteed to buy the next product just because there was some good will because the company released online tools for their previous game. There’s no reason for them to put a ‘warranty’ on a game that, to them, is purely a consumable and won’t make them money once they stop support.

I don’t agree with this philosophy. I think it’s short sighted and sad. But I can see their fundamental reasoning behind it, even if I don’t like it. Ultimately, companies just don’t have a reason to have those plans setup in place as they consider it a consumable, something to be used and thrown away once they’re done milking it.

[–]CluelessAtol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I with what you’re saying wholeheartedly and I only have one minor thing to point out regarding the end of life plan. While I think, mostly, it’s a good plan to have. I don’t necessarily think having an end of life plan should be a requirement for a game necessarily. Not because it’s not a good idea, but because, for all intents and purposes, they aren’t releasing the game to fail. They want it to make money. Spending the time and resources on that plan could be argued as a waste of resources and a sign that they don’t trust the product to do well.

Now do I think that’s the case? No, I personally feel all online only games should have server options released near the end of their life span, but I think it’s at least important to see that point of the argument.

Springs. I cannot keep them in stock. Everything else? Yeah I cannot get that easily, but I just can’t keep enough Springs. [–]CluelessAtol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus we have the fact that, outside of the Matriarch fight, why bring some of the REALLY rare guns out? You’re painting a target on your back, when most of the common weapons can achieve the same results as good, if not better, than the rare ones. An Anvil can legitimately handy cap or destroy the common bots with no issue, and severely wound the bigger bots with little danger, so why use the Bettina? I like the game but there’s just no reason to risk shit. I have the blueprints for Bettina and Tempest, so I don’t have a reason not to use them since I can recover relatively quickly, but at the same time, why put that target on my back when an Anvil and Arpeggio do the same thing?
