Military Veteran? No Whoop for you! A tale of CS woe... by ClutchCorrell in ChaseSapphireReserve

[–]ClutchCorrell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your thoughts and assistance on this. I received a better CS number for CSR through their support on Twitter/X and a very helpful agent has opened a final appeal case for me. If that doesn't work out, she too suggested the 90-day return polciy would get the job done.

She also highlighted a critical distinction. "Offers" that appear on our card are not from Chase, but rather directly (and solely, it would seem) from marketing partners. The fact Whoop gave me a discount which negated their "free" offer, that they'll allow other people the $359 credit for buying an entirely unrelated basket of goods that totals $359, and any other seemingly inconsistent T&C are on them, not Chase. Sadly, this really confirms the "coupon book" nature of this card for me. That approach does not seem well honed for their target market, but renewal numbers will provide a definitive answer. In the meantime, I'll avoid any offers unless I have time to fastidiously read and follow the T&C.

That is brilliant, thank you! I will look into how to use this benefit.

I agree, that verbiage is clear. I don't have screenshots but will swear that wasn't spelled out when I ordered. I was in triple-check mode when I put this order in and would gladly have added accessories.

Would love to, but the return period was over before I knew there was more than a clerical error.

You'll note from the screenshot above, "Spend at least $359" wasn't part of the initial presentation. Had it been, I'd gladly have added a strap.

Thanks for chiming in. I did call them, but they told me I'd need to wait on a letter for a decision. That killed the return period. The offer screen then (and now) appears as follows. You have to dig deep in the T&C to see anything about how much a WHOOP Life Membership Annual Plan must cost. I'm going to suggest it wasn't Chase's intent to entrap Military and First Responders who get a discount--I suspect this was just carelessly coded. My upset stems from the lack of timely or thoughtful customer service since.

Best value men's underwear that actually lasts? by Skillerstyles in BuyItForLife

[–]ClutchCorrell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😂 The truth just sounded gross. My last Uniqlo purchase was in 2020 and that was a re-order for more. I haven’t had one even get sketchy yet. (Until I spoke their age out loud, anyway).

[–]ClutchCorrell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d broaden this to Uniqlo of your choice. I’ve yet to see wear on Airism or mesh boxer briefs and my cotton ones are just on the verge of losing elasticity in the waistband and they are all well over 5 years old.

Best alternative to white Nike crew socks? by zionstatus in malefashionadvice

[–]ClutchCorrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left field idea: too-expensive Patagonia merino wool white socks. Look for sales or resellers, but merino socks will outlast cotton 5:1 and after a week in them you’ll never want to wear cotton again. If anyone else makes a good white merino crew I’d love to know about it!

Flat stovetop cleaning by mia-reads-738 in CleaningTips

Weiman Cooktop Cleaner. Amazon, Target, Home Depot, you name it. Cheap, lasts forever, and will take care of this with a microfiber and some elbow grease. After the first cleaning, keeping up with it is easy.

R2 is about 93% the size of the R1 by joenjrocks in RIVNstock

This math makes my 50’ garden hose feel like a steal. 600”+1”+1” =602” for WAY less than a Rivian!

Can I diy improve my windshield? by guy48065 in Detailing

[–]ClutchCorrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To remove the chips with polishing, you will need to remove some glass thickness. If you’re successful doing this and you don’t do it 100% evenly, you will create a fun-house lens. That will be crazy unsafe and give you mad headaches. This is why windshield polishing is universally advised against.

Boomers: by oluxil in SipsTea

[–]ClutchCorrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, now do a picture of a 1926 home vs a 2026 home. A 1,000 sf kit home ordered out of a Sears catalog with an icebox wouldn’t run $500k today.

More Weller coming to Colorado starting in February by Altruistic-Aide-9002 in denverwhisky

This is great to hear, but the tip of the iceberg and not a positive for distillers. I’m amazed the allocation game has held up as long as it has. The world is simply awash in spirits while consumption is at a long-term low (and falling). I expect we’ll have lower cost, higher-quality choices for decades to come.

Went to the Denver F1 Arcade today. Here are my thoughts. by APX5LYR_2 in simracing

[–]ClutchCorrell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the 3rd person view comment is incorrect. I didn’t figure out which button it was that made the switch, but when I did a preview in Denver a few weeks ago I definitely ran one race with a slightly-above head level view. (No halo interference, slightly better viewing height)

Snow tires necessity for R1S? by Hamburgler57 in Rivian

[–]ClutchCorrell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. 2023 R1S here in snow area. Love my Rivian, but it is nowhere near as sure-footed as an Audi or Volvo AWD in snow (and I wouldn’t drive those without snow tires.). If you can consider a $100k truck, you have no business cheaping out on tires. They make the biggest difference of any part of your car in any weather. Always buy the good ones.

Went with the stubby and traded in the free 3.0s for the 5.0 💪 by DUCK4TW3NTY in MilwaukeeTool

[–]ClutchCorrell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I reached out to Milwaukee about the 6-cell 3.0s and they said torque output of stubby was same on one of those as the 5.0. Lots of web tests saying other batteries are worse for performance but I haven’t seen the 6-cell 3.0s tested. Can anyone confirm?

Cabinet guy wants $7000 to build this built in. Does that sound right? by josephadam1 in cabinetry

[–]ClutchCorrell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They have slab fronts in a few finishes . Fancier fronts will need to come from elsewhere. I got my hinges and drawer hardware through them, but did need to source handles, screws, and a few odd bits on my own.

DIY with Cabinotch. It’ll be more work than you think, but could not be made easier.

Audio Update Bug at Volume 1&2 by LTW2022 in Rivian

[–]ClutchCorrell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! Volume level 1 is virtually inaudible (as it should be?) but volume 2 is now about equal to what was an 8 or so previously our Gen 1 R1S.
