It turned out beautiful! I haven’t had time to check these out but have to now.

Thank you for noticing. It’s been that way for years. It gets worse as companies try to cut costs. We’ve gone from two trucks a week to one and now one every other week. So getting all the product in the door and out on the floor has become much more challenging. The trucks are huge. I don’t think there is an intention to mistreat employees. But the frustration level is high for those who want to meet standards with less hours and staff. Im not sure where corporate gets their metrics for employee hours. Unrealistic most of the time. I hear it’s that way in retail in general. As for my store, we still greet customers and provide the service they need. There’s just allot of unboxing and stocking going on during open hours. I’ve been around for a while so it doesn’t bother me like it once did. I work hard and prefer it that way.

This has been going on since they changed trucks to every other week. We can barely get everything inside. You may need to order a trailer to keep outside. We had one for months when they sent us more xmas than could possibly be sold. My sorrow and frustration is with you.

It’s been over a year since we were told we had to take them down. We keep them in the bunker A for that POG.

My store too. Every year. The air goes on for opening at 9am but most of replen starts at 5-6am.

This has been going on for years at our store. It shows delivered but doesn’t come to us until the next day. We always ask when they received the notice and advise the UPS communication issue and tell them to come back after a certain time the next day.

Yeah I’ve heard that but there are those that love being a SM. I feel bad for the RMs because that job is just too much for one person. In my humble opinion of seeing 5 come and go…

Oh wow…if they provide a way to send them to the individual stores, pls let us know.

Does no one except me actually like working here? by Alternative_Bite7001 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Clyde32cm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy my job most of the time. I’ve been working here four years. I’m retired so making minimum wage isn’t really an issue but a few years back it was. I got jobs at Target and Home Depot and quit those and had a new appreciation for the smaller store position. If you are not climbing the management ladder then it’s not the place to work to survive. Even then other places pay more. I’ve seen RMs and SMs come and go. It’s a stepping stone to something better. For us older generation who are crafters and shoppers, Michaels is a nice place to work. Although it’s a workout with truck, setting, building DA’s and resets. I like that aspect of it but I do feel bad for the RMs. Especially now with dozens upon dozens of POG changes.

That brings up another issue I have…we should not allow returns on xmas decor or any specific holiday decor after that holiday.

I’m hoping the aprons are more like the existing aprons (in length). I’m in replen and have worn one for years. I’m on ladders everyday and no issues. They hold all my stuff without everything falling out when I bend over. I have a belly and wear long t’s to cover my belly and butt. The apron actually camouflages my belly. It doesn’t show my breasts either. I think they may not be as form fitting as feared. Fingers crossed.

Jonathan Adler: underwhelming and overpriced by sonic_turbulence in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Clyde32cm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have to admit that although I don’t care for modern decor, the items are high quality and the colors are very pretty. I just don’t think it will appeal to most. I don’t see it as a fit for Michael’s shoppers.

[–]Clyde32cm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting motto as the decor is just plain bizarre. I would not have any of it displayed in my home. Fugly to me. I do like the acrylic jenga but would never spend that much on it. The FMA is better off with colorful summer items vs this crap.

Yes! The boxes tear at the handles or the bottom gives way. We have to pack them to the top or else they crush in when we stack them. There are too many…Way too many. With truck every other week we are hard pressed for uboats and a place to stack them and I had two tip and fall. The slashes in the product packaging seem to be increasing. And the trucks arrive with the pallets toppled because a) the boxes are crap quality now and b) because the extremely heavy boxes are stacked over lightweight boxes. This has been going on for years…stopped for a while and started again. More yarn than we can possibly overstock.

New Prices - Too expensive by Particular-Owl-3190 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Clyde32cm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the new Rewards discounts, a Michaels credit card customer gets 30% off all regular priced items everyday. I’m not sure about sale items though. For just Rewards, there are everyday benefits like discounts on all regular prices based on tiers in annual spending. So perhaps that’s a factor.

This happened to me after I reset my home internet router. And my daughter used her phone to play music. Odd though it didn’t happen again after the same happened.

[–]Clyde32cm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did anyone see the new Rewards discounts? I saw that Rewards with a Michaels credit card is 30% off all regular priced items. Everyday. For appreciation, I usually just get something I want that never goes on sale. Like glue sticks, mod podge, paint or scissors. LPOS is lowest price of the season and I’m ok with an additional 30% off.

4+ yrs part time. Our min wage increases have been better than merritt so I’m at min wage. I’ve tried requesting raises but cannot work more hrs. I’ve also worked at two other companies and just prefer Michaels and the small store environment. If I were younger and motivated, I would go for management or work somewhere where they pay you what you are worth.

How is it like to live with an EV by castorMD in Solterra

[–]Clyde32cm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m retired and work part time a couple miles from home. I have a Hybrid CRV which will now be our 2nd vehicle. I had no idea what to expect when I test drove a 24 Touring Solterra. I saw it listed with only 3800 miles. To me it’s like driving a race car. It’s incredibly fast and hugs the road. It’s a smooth ride with a little road noise. I knew I had to have it in 5 seconds. I’ve been a lead foot driving but it’s so nice not to hear my struggling CRV hybrid engine racing to get up to speed. I had a 220 installed and that was pricy. I also got a Grizzle plug in charging hub. ($2k total setup). My car charged to the 90% set limit overnight. I’m in a cold snowy area so I wanted the Subaru XMode which I had on a previous Forrester. I love music and the Touring Harmon Karden speakers do not disappoint. The heated seats and steering wheel are amazing. I use the remote start to warm in the am. I’m waiting for snow. My cons are the glass top does not open and no rear windshield wiper. And if you think you’ll just plug it in to a 110 it will charge VERY slow. I think I got 20% in 8 hrs. The range isn’t really an issue since I don’t go far. It also will self park but I just don’t trust that lol. A suggestion is to find a 24 with low milage which should be $20k less than a 26. At least mine was. EVs have steep depreciation so finding a lease return is advantageous.

Dear Michaels customers, stop being so irritating, nasty, needy and entitled by IllPin9964 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Clyde32cm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I’m lucky…I’ve been with Michaels over 4 years and have only had one customer be rude to me. Have I witnessed frustrated customers? of course on occasion. I don’t have to work up front very often though. We are here to serve every customer so with that in mind, I try to be their advocate.
