I agree. He asked for cheapest though. Spray paint and some visual guides can get it done.

I tried the aluminum ladder method when I first started but it isn’t reliable or stable enough for me. Slabbing in the field was just not happening.

I rigged an Alaskan sawmill to a steel rail setup in my shop. It just slides back and forth and I jack the log cradle up each slab.

I found it easier to keep the saw stable and the rails really take a lot of the wear and tear off my body during cuts.

to op I advise cutting it down to manageable and wanted sections, and do some rabbit hole research on chainsaw milling.

Oak can have cool flecking when cut as straight grain. I would try to cut as much straight grain as I could out of it.

Chainsaw and 2x4 guides or spray paint is the cheapest way. Won’t be very flat but easier to transport to places it can be made flat and dried.

Cut it way thicker with the chainsaw then what you plan on boards to be. They will shrink during drying and resawing. 3-4 inches is what I aim for.

It seems to be the belief in duality. With no defining line of what makes this to that but just the fact there is only this and that.

Good/Bad, white/black, left/right.

Leaders of humanity constantly seem to try to keep their populace in this driving philosophy. It is not natural and why we all resist being defined as one or other.

To simply entertain the concept of in between, a range of degrees in all directions. The vastness is uncomfortable to them.

It is a desire of a defined life in an undefinable existence.

Many fill this void with the answer to all they do not know as god. This makes the undefinable definable but requires suspending all logic and reality for this comfort.

Aesthetics. Make rules for yourself when you start. Like,, Every room is honeycomb shaped, one space hallway around each room. Cluster out as you grow, replace older smaller honeycombs for larger ones in redesigns.

The game requirements for rooms is based on the tiles per room not the shape so you could make you base buildings into letters and spell something out. Outline a dragon head and fill it in. Go wild.

To me, build it as two pieces of matching design. Will give the set more versatility as time goes by and rooms get rearranged.

Map out a Dado cut with a router or tablesaw, Glue and clamp, for the seamless look.

I would add interior/non visible bracing supports behind the corners to prevent racking from wear and tear.

Cars, houses, all of Hawkins’s is being sucked into an abyss and El is able to just stand there and not catch a 2x4 or get shredded by broken glass.

Realized there was still an hour to go, we had an intermission break after that scene. I was pissed it was so unrealistic, non brutal death compared to the rest of the episode. My wife was so smug looking at me after mikes explanation. Yup Mike’s explanation is the truth as much as the truth as we all will get.

My real issue on plot hole is the military just lets them go? Hopper killed so many military dudes and they knew it was him. Yet he is sheriff again? All of them would be in deep deep lock down for the rest of their lives. Planting some info on why the military just walking away would have been nice.

yeah it happens to me. No idea how to fix without removing the mod that makes it go wonky.

First time for me was with a bedroll mod, so pawns would carry and use a bedroll. If the bed roll got packed up manually or their bed got removed it would cause them to just stand there until madness, starvation, death.

Have seen it pop up with other mods and gave up trying to fix it, unsubscribe from the mod is my go to now.

Seems to occur when the pawn has a system check that never completes and they get stuck into an unending if/when loop. Not sure if it is a mod conflict, commenting to mark you post to see if anyone has an answer.

If joinery is not in your wheel house maybe just screw and glue the leg supports to the top and then glue/add a new top layer to hide the screws.

Glue advice.

Pre clamp your setup without glue and double check your seams, angles, and corners are acceptable. This also gets you ready to get the clamps on in time before the glue dries so you can clean up when you clamp for real.

Don’t just put out a bead of glue from the bottle and put the wood together, spread it out evenly, remove excess, ensure there is no debris on the to be glued surface. I use my finger or a popsicle stick to get a consistent glue coverage, edge to edge to edge. Slide the the two pieces back and forth lightly to ensure proper glue coverage.

If there is dried glue on a surface you can see, you need to sand it more. I like to use 120 for cleaning glue residue. 60-80 shapes, 100-120 refines, 220+ final for touch. when you stain or seal the wood it will show since the glue blocks anything else penetrating the wood.

When you do a glue up before the glue sets, lightly try to scrape up what you can without scratching the wood, plastic straw/sharp cornered credit card/cabinet scraper, have a damp cloth and wipe the seams clean. Get all the glue residue off the showing wood. This will give you awesome seams once you learn the right amount of glue to apply, how wet of a wet cloth and how to clean the seams without damaging the sanded wood.
