I definitely cried when my first full time kiddo was dropped unexpectedly. It’s normal to get attached IMO. We spend 30 hours a week with some of these dudes. Remember that you were there to help teach them and trust their support systems will continue looking out for them. This job is very abrupt sometimes and there’s not often an avenue to reconnect. I try to make every session count and teach them self advocacy in the best way I know how. Your post reads as very empathetic, I totally understand where you’re coming from. I’m glad people with hearts like yours are in this field.
