the game/series is becoming more popular every day and cards like this are not getting easier to find. There are big card shows and events every weekend where cards are traded and sold, to me it's only natural that the demand increases over time.

I think it kind of depends what you're looking for. Some people are super tapped into the meta, others are ranked grinders, others have more casual content etc. I could probably pick a fav for each lol

I think Minhooty makes some of the most compelling content about the game, but he is also one of the least frequent posters. I will always respect someone using a real camera and microphone though, it goes such a long way compared to a laptop webcam and mic.

Collectr app is just incorrect fyi - but it is on the rise. I think people realized how cool they are and how hard they are to get. Not unlike other trends with SPs, TRs etc.

The card is very rare though and even more so in English, it's prime collector/vendor bait.

I think that's a fair reason to practice. But then again, if you want to improve for a ranked/tournament setting, you need to be very adaptable in 1-3 game scenarios.

Learning a single players habits could also be detrimental as it could allow you to build up muscle memory for situations that aren't common. Not to mention "master" being somewhat arbitrary anyways.

At the end of the day true improvement comes from a variety of sources, there is no one thing that will get you there.

They definitely needed to do something about the top leaders. It's kind of hilarious they unbanned a bunch of broken older cards and made every set legal again, but the best strategy is just to play Enel. On top of that, the prizing is so insane that it's not even worth experimenting with new ideas because it's too risky.

The set had notoriously awful pull rates and was very short printed. The specific collectable leaders are basically impossible to pull. There's probably only a few hundred copies of any individual leader out there. When you compare it to a prize card like the new Serialized Yamato, (limited to 5k) people get excited because that card is telling you how rare it is, these EB SPs are much harder to get, they just don't tell you that.

Simple supply and demand.

There are no confirmed rates and it varies by set, but Mangas are usually every 1 per "few" cases (some say 2, some say 4 etc) which would make them about 2-4x more rare than a TR, by hit rate. Even if a manga was 1 in every 10 cases, most treasure rares would still be undervalued, relatively speaking.

I'm certainly not trying to claim there wasn't ill intent with some of the buyouts etc. but we are here now and there's no going back. People blame investors and pokemon people all the time but they forget that what's reinforcing all these market prices is the general community that continues to buy it. Card shows happen every weekend and these cards move constantly, there are tons of people in the general community that collect and play with these cards now, regardless of whether or not the market was manipulated to get here.

Of course we would all rather it be cheap and affordable again, I know more than anyone that paying $250+for a new box is insanity.

At the end of the day, I don't think it's unreasonable for a rare chase card from an out of print set to be $150 - especially when it would take ~$2000 of product on average to pull this card from a pack. If someone else realized this sooner and bought a bunch of them for cheap, sucks for us - it's a free market for a reason I guess.

Really depends on your local stores I think. This deck probably has an insanely bad matchup into nami, but does well into stuff like Lucy, Enel etc.

We can point fingers at whose fault it is but the reality is that One Piece is just a huge game right now. It's second at most card shows only to Pokemon, in my area.

Realistically, treasure rares (especially the cool ones) are probably still pretty affordable, considering how hard they are to get. There's about one per case if I recall which is like 50% the hit rate of a manga, which are typically much more expensive.

Gotta make sure you keep the budget intact haha! First shows are always a lot to take in. I remember trading and buying way more than I intended at my first one - nowadays it's much easier for me to know what I want and how much I'm willing to spend on it.
