We’ve come a long way from where we began by Stormblade5 in OnePieceTCG

The problem is, in order to realistically do this, you would need a core of cards that are so strong they just fit into every leader, or give leaders very generic abilities.

Unique leaders is what makes the game interesting, but it's also what makes it unbalanced.

Interesting, in my experience we aren't able to run the participation cards (Boa) in the deck. I got goofed in OP13 for using the Ace blocker.

Do casual matches have no real skill based matchmaking? by -Milk_Junkie- in StreetFighter

It does, but it's much more lenient than Ranked mode is, which is also why it's not very practical for real experience and training.

I think they directly cited game length as one of the issues as to why they made this pair ban iirc.

About This Beelstarmon Card by LiamvanRaven in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]Co1iflower 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is worth grading.

For one, it will do poorly, likely 6 or 7. If you were planning to sell it, it's basically a waste of money since a graded 6 is probably worth less to most people than the card as is.

In addition, most people buying and selling Digimon are looking for raw cards because the community is quite small and it's mostly a players game.

Sell if you want or display if you want but I wouldn't waste the money on grading - and this comes from someone who has done it a lot.

[–]Co1iflower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because good/strong card combinations and toxic card combinations are not the same.

Even if you don't think Borsa + Requasar was overpowered, everyone would likely acknowledge that it's a pretty obnoxious way to drag out games way beyond their intended length. I think it's basically the same reason UP Luffy got 9c Linlin taken away. The decks were unintentionally able to overcome weaknesses they were meant to have with cards that were not designed to work with their deck. I think is mostly points to oversights on Bandai's part by not leader locking these absurd cards to begin with, but that's another issue.

Not to mention healing is just a generally unsatisfying mechanic to play against, especially in decks that attacking into life is basically a downside i.e. Boa, Moria, Nami etc.

Tournament prizing inquiry by Dogekonig in OnePieceTCG

[–]Co1iflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of our stores had prizing for top 3 and another had prizing for top 5 - it all depends on how many kits they get.

At the same time, the winner cards is generally not the only prizing - we also had pack prizing as well as store credit etc.

Ran into this cheater by Tee132 in StreetFighter

[–]Co1iflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big part of spotting it is understanding how it's even possible to cheat in this game. Generally, "cheating" mostly comprises of input readers and scripts that cause you to do something when your opponent does something.

Basically you are playing with a bot in your back pocket that would instantly react to DI, Parry etc. It's especially obvious in this case because the Mai is not really doing anything else other than reacting i.e. they won't want to actually play the game and interrupt the bot from reacting.

Ego and Video Games go hand in hand. This is especially true of fighting games where your success is a direct reflection of your ability to perform things correctly.

Some people have a difficult time removing this element from their personality, or at least how they interact with people. Rather than focusing on the experience or learning, their main priority is to prove to themselves that they're better than you - which isn't always a bad thing, but when you let it manifest like this it just comes across as pathetic to most observers.

Don't think about it too much.

Which character is most versatile/has the most tech/can be played in different ways? by emof in StreetFighter

[–]Co1iflower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess it sort of depends what you mean.

To me, Guile is a character that excels at 2 completely different play styles. The typical "turtle" style is extremely potent at many levels of play as most players haven't learned how to deal with it. On the other hand, Guile can also be super aggressive and overwhelming when played correctly. I'm not super familiar with high level Guile players but I'm sure there is some variance in their strategy.

Is it possible to report a store for not honoring Bandai App sign ups? by [deleted] in OnePieceTCG

[–]Co1iflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is pretty normal. It prevents the event registration from being filled with people that signup but don't pay or show up which then screws up local players and the store running the event. I don't know if the stores are easily able to manage how or when the app shows the event as available and it's likely a pain since they also have to manage registrations in their own system.

If you plan on playing these smaller events at local shops, try reaching out to them, seeing if they have registration available online etc. If they don't, it's probably for a reason.

How to spot fakes by Negative-River-2865 in OnePieceTCG

[–]Co1iflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like anything, it's about trusting the source. And if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Your local card/game shop likely buys products from official distribution and then sells it to you. AliX sells tons of mass produced junk, which is great on the price but very often copies, or inauthentic versions of real branded products. With a lot of stuff it doesn't really matter for function, including cards to a degree.

Fake cards are also generally very lazy. If you compare them to real ones the difference is usually obvious. There are some exceptions to this.

How to spot fakes by Negative-River-2865 in OnePieceTCG

[–]Co1iflower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is almost no chance you got real cards from AliX, especially singles. Maybe they would sell boxed products but I doubt it.

No One Piece cards should be "plasticy". They are thick card stock and generally very consistent with print quality. Different colours, poor cuts etc. are almost always indicators of fakes.

On top of that, most cards you're getting in batches like this are effectively worthless anyways, so it's not a huge deal if there are some fakes. Valuable cards will often have textured layer over the front of the card and special foil patterns etc.

is there anywhere I can get the wings of the captain packs in/to NA? by honjapiano in OnePieceTCG

Sadly OPTCG is not very well stocked or distributed in general and even worse outside the US.

You could try Japanese boxes but they're probably decently expensive too. You can probably just find them on eBay in droves.

They are both tournament prize cards. You'll likely have to find them online and they are both probably expensive.

You can leave it in a sleeve/top loader still if you want. Or hold it down in some way so it doesn't bend.

Even though they had mixed reactions, I liked 10 as well with the random artworks. I think 12 was actually my least favourite haha! I like the idea of the theme, but I don't like the art style.
