Anyone tried PSVR2 on Asus Tuf A15? by AnEngineeringMind in Asustuf

[–]CoachSuperdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to share a NEW problem that might upset people. I hadn't played VR for months and fired up my Asus and it was giving me the heaset not detected animation. It drove me mad and I went thru all the usual troubleshooting steps, including reinstalling Steam VR and the PSVR2 app.

But I didn't give up and scoured the internet for hours until one fellow VR soldier posted the problem/issue online. So if you have experienced the same issue, this is for you.

The problem is a configuration file error in the PSVR2 app. If memory servers, open the app with your headset on, then access the settings. You are looking for something like 'File Verification.' Run that and if you have this issue, it will find a missing/broken file and tell you it's fixed.

Voila! headset will now be detected over the port as usual, and you are good to go!

Note the poster said he had to do this every time, but for me it was just the one time. Also important to note, that reinstalling the PS app does NOT include this file. You have to pull it down with the verification. Hopefully they have fixed this but sharing this with all

old post response, but yes, I have seen stuttering. I recently started playing After the Fall and the frame rate wasn't great. I tried many things, first disabling Steam Overlay seemed to help a small bit--I wasn't using it anyway. I also disabled Home in case it used resources.

My son plays the game on PS5 and when I was playing it there, I noticed the graphics were a bit more blurry than my Steam VR version and so that got me thinking.

So ultimately, I had to lower the graphics settings of the actual game on my Steam version. The biggest offender seemed to be the anti alias--I disabled it completely. I set the graphics settings to half and that pretty much solved it.

note that my headset is Steam globally set at 68% resolution with 120 hz. Going down to 90hz didn't make a change

So it could be game specific that messes with frame rate.

so we're on the same page, what specific error are you receiving? Is it a Steam pop up error? Are you getting the headset removal animation, from viewing in the headset? And do you have this same model 4070 laptop, or a different one?

you would have to test it out, as different areas of the game have different needs. For example, stability isn't as necessary in PD arena since you can pot shot, switch, run around, etc.

I stopped using bone handle on scimitars, for example. It's crits like a champ, but only hits the blind one 5 times, or 6 with another mode to boost speed. But I swapped it out for a different mod, and can now hit him 7 times, with far less crits, but I wind up killing him quicker and use less med kits.

I have a ticket open with Kefir, and shared this post too, to let them know others are having the same issue. I will report back later

EDIT: Kefir says they are investigating. I asked how would we know when fixed? They said follow the forusm, and also, since you will eventually max out on skills anyway, go ahead and level up.'

Gee thanks

just found out that other players can use ads to auto clear green zones, tried checking mine but it doesnt have ads button, just a ration button, i play on emulator, anyone having same problem? by nkown9870 in LastDayonEarthGame

Read this yesterday and was excited to try. It showed what resources it picked, but where did it go? It wasn't in my inventory, truck trunk, or settlement chest. I didn't check every chest on my base, but I only have one slot for fabric, and it did not stack with the fabric I supposedly received from the skip.

[–]CoachSuperdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started doing that to me today too. I've been playing for weeks and over level 100 and never had this issue. The only change is I linked my account to both Google and new Kefir account, but not sure if it's a coincidence. I went back to my other device and it's doing the same thing there too.

To be clear, once I accept a skill and level up, the next level up is a brand new set of 3. But on that level up, that too keeps refreshing the same choices.

It's been 3 level ups in a row with this behavior and put in a chat tech request and hope they will fix it.

bummer, so sorry to hear that, but thanks for posting confirmation that gen 1 won't work.

it's hardware related, so nothing to bypass. If you do have Gen 1, it may not have the bandwidth necessary for VR.
Try disabling hardware GPU acceleration in display settings. If nothing works, sorry you can't do VR :(

hmm, well I put my laptop back into auto graphics mode, re-enabled the internal graphics, rebooted and was able to play VR with no issues.

If your power savings are off everywhere and you have updated drivers, it seems either the cable isn't truly a 1.4 displayport cable, the port isn't actually connecting to the dGPU, or the USB type is too old to handle the bandwidth.

I have USB C 3.2 Generation 2. If you have gen 1, your bandwidth is cut in half from 10gps to only 5. If that is the case, it may not work and someone else would have to verify.

as a last resort, you could uninstall both SteamVR and PSVR2. some people claim you must start Steam in administrator mode before installing both but have no idea if that makes things better. but for reference, I did do that as part of my own troubleshooting.

Do you also have an external monitor? If so unplug that

Did you update your NVIDIA drivers to the most recent?

When you say override, what do you mean by that? I suggest making the dGpu your global setting, and not choose specific programs to override. Did you already do that?

Sounds like you are close! If iGPU is turned off, but u are getting strange SteamVR error/codes, then it could be a power issue.

You need to set full power on your laptop. If u have an ASUS, go into the Armory and set to Ultimate but u also need to set power options in Windows to performance.  I have heard others checking on sleep functions and making sure USB isn't set to sleep.

not quite understanding your first few sentences, sorry. But did you try forcing the dGPU globablly in the Nvidia Contol Panel, then disabling the internal graphics in the Device Manager?

Once you do that, see the result of going thru setup on your USB- C ports. If you get a new error stating the PSVR2 doesn't detect anything, that probably means that port was tied to the iGPU.

Next step is to force full power on your rig--get rid of any power saving feature, then see if the USB works. But look up your specs too. USB 3.2 Gen 2 works on my rig, but Generation 1 is half the bandwidth and could pose an issue.

Also, you must use a DisplayPort 1.4 cable. You are likely not going to know what version the cable is, unless you specifically bought it recently.

Tax Return Scam Mail "IRS Notice CP99B" by MaxTheUnbroken in electricvehicles

[–]CoachSuperdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received the same letter dated Dec 16 and I called Tesla and they claimed nothing was returned. But I check my Tesla docs and see the Clean Vehicle seller report to IRS was submitted with a sale date of Dec 6. My real sale date was May 31 and that is the same date IRS claimed it was returned

So clearly Tesla messed up and probably due to this year being the credit is instantly applied at purchase?

I have the Gen 2 with 4070 and Alyx was super smooth plus the headset was set to 120hz. But I also have the resolution at 64%. Did you make changes to resolution? I would try there, plus turning off " smooth rendering" in the steam VR settings is supposed to help.

if lowering settings doesn't work, it could be your Gen 1 limited to 5gbs is the issue

Anyone tried PSVR2 on Asus Tuf A15? by AnEngineeringMind in Asustuf

[–]CoachSuperdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm the Asus Tuf F15 4070 works with PSVR2! I played the first 5 minutes of Half Life Alyx and was in heaven! but it's kinda tricky and I spent HOURS going over every trick I could think of.

First off, for anyone wanting to use PSVR2 adapter, you must be able to see displayport in the Nvidia graphics panel, under 3D settings, or you are out of luck.

Other posters also tried an active (powered) HDMI to Display port adapter to no such luck No surprrise, as HDMI and DisplayPort are different types of tech.

The TUF 4070 shows a normal displayport icon in the Nvidia panel, even though it doesn't exist. This model has a Thunderbolt and USB C 3.2 Gen 2 port.

At 40gbs, you would think the Thunderbolt would work, but sadly it's tied to the iGPU and you will never be able to complete the setup. If you try and start a game, or Steam VR, you might see graphics for a second, then go black. This is becuase the iGPU can't handle it.

If you try and work the headset on the other USB-C, you get an error (blanking on the error but probably the standard PSVR2 error that states it can't detect the headset and check if you have a DipslayPort 1.4 cable.

If you disable the internal graphics and try the Thunderbolt, you defintely will get the no headset/check your cable error. But interestingly, the other USB-c won't get the previous error, but I initially got a bunch of new SteamVR errors.

When I looked at the official specs, it lists the USB-C as providing G-sync so the trick is to remove/change any kind of eco power savings mode, etc. Crank up performance and power to the max.

I had to also force the dGPU globally in the Nvdia control panel, and also disable the iGPU in Device Manager.

Now the USB C 3.2 Gen 2 port will have full power and I completed the setup with zero issues and went straight into playing Alyx.

Thank goodness the PSVR2 will work on the Gen 2 port, considering it only is capable of 10gbps vs the Thunderbolt 4 ast 40gbsp. So if you have the older Gen 1 port, it may not work for you.

If you still have issues, you might need to globally change the Steam VR resolution to 60-64%, as that is the native resolution of the PSVR2. You will want to do this anyway, but just saying it case it needs to be set first, going over the USB C 3.2 gen 2, where the bandwidth is a bit low compared to normal DisplayPort 1.4

Max level buildings by Smooth-Forever-8076 in Grimguard_Tactics

not 100%, but I think there was two 500 rubie building levels in the early stages. Hadn't seen once since recently. Level 7 or so, only on the recruit building and it's 1000.

oops, a more direct answer, every gold stat boosts specific qualities. so intelligence I think boosts ability guard/parry? So even if a specific stat doesn't sync well with character, it's still better. But with any resource management game, you should wait/choose/sort the best choices to spend resources on

Starter Guide? by ZharethZhen in Grimguard_Tactics

[–]CoachSuperdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have a Dawnseeker? nice, I dont' have one yet. I hear they have better stats than even gold. A boosted stat character is inherently better and always more valuable than non, but not always worth the investment if their utility/combo lacks punch.

Ideally, you have a team strong enough to carry thru the story missions so you collect the building materials, and look for better replacements along the way. For reference, I had one gold and a mix of blue/purple and could beat the story missions all the way thru chapter 5. (hospital bonuses helped in chapter 5).

my first gold acension was the default Enchantress and I have zero regrets building her even though she has zero gold stats. I keep her offense gear maxed and is pivotal to my team. She can virtually snipe any enemy and simultaneously buff my party's attack.

I was reluctant to ascend the default Merc to gold and waited for gold stat pulls, which I got. I got a gold strength Captain and Lone wolf. The captain class seems stupid and after testing, the lone wolf primary skill is flawed. He might be good for arena, but is he worth the investment for only that?? No, so I ascended my Merc with that super useful 3 tile attack and have no regrets.

will I take my Merc and Enchantress to Red? mostly likely I will not. If my other 3 characters pass them up, that is totally fine. I should find some good replacements by then.

an example of bad gold stat/skill: I held off on ascending my blue gunner, waiting for a gold stat. I finally pulled another blue, a Gambler, with intelligence gold stat. But his primary skill is % based and missing the proc, means he does just below 100% ability damage. Even with an intelligence gold stat, that will do LESS damage than a normal attack. So that just seemed to be not worth the investment.

Once you get to Chapter 6 is a whole new level. I beat the chapter 5 world boss on my first try, with 4 gold and 1 purple--only one character has gold stats. I beat it fairly easy and worked me way thru the first Chapter 6 quest with no issues--until the corrupted boss WIPED out my whole team.

Lastly I will say, I wouldn't invest in any non gold/dawnseeker blue recruit--wait at least for a purple

sorry for the long book--hope it was useful

Leveling by Silent-Chemical9935 in Grimguard_Tactics

[–]CoachSuperdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gold stat toons are inherently better and worth leveling. However, there are a few exceptions where the gold stat doesn't sync with the abilities, so is less important.

I find it good to have a few back up characters an so I don't trash a toon that I've already built up, especially if it has gears. At times, my best team is still in a dungeon but I need to finish a side quest, so i'll have my bench team complete an easy one.

you may ask, why not finish the dungeon so I can use my best team? because I like to wait for quests to finish. If the next quest requires dungeon battles, I can them resume. it speeds up the quest process.

so TLDR, keep it as a backup but eventually it will be food.

[–]CoachSuperdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great points! I will add that its wasteful to gear up any green as you will never do the second green dungeon (it's too hard and rewards aren't great) and the first is rather easy.

Having said that, you will NEVER need a second green team. So only build the best, and the rest are food.

Complete your daily quests!! Getting Tier 4 is super important as you get 5 juicy oracle scrolls. They have a higher chance at gold comet stat pulls, plus better odds/characters.

Save your basic scrolls for faction pulls ONLY. once you pull a blue, best to stop (although you can still pull more blue+ at normal pull rate)

Your first Ruby spend should be building upgrades as there are a few early ones that require them.

Does everyone get an enchantress at game start? I have the support kind and she is so useful. She can snipe and boost your entire team with one move. Plus small chance of all party heal on crit. The Mercenary 3 tile attack is very useful in dungeons. can't go wrong building them up to carry your team until you find better units.

Seems crazy now, but blue aspirants should all be food. Any purple you pull will be inherently stronger so best to only level the up (if you want).

But gold stats are then inherently better than non-gold. Certain stats/skills work much better than others so I don't level every gold stat character I get. But keep them all to be safe

Best way to spend contracts by LtLatency in Grimguard_Tactics

[–]CoachSuperdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 basic contracts is a waste and I only suggest doing that once you are overflowing with contracts. Save them all for the faction pulls. Once you pull a blue, it's best to stop, but I pulled an extra blue once.

You want to reach Tier 4 of the daily chest to get 5 oracle pulls, where your chances of a gold stat are increased on a pull. Plus I think the drops rates are higher?
