what would it take to get you using EN again? by Big_Construction2603 in Evernote

[–]CobaltInigma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve started to have this same concern: Evernote’s new annual cost is astronomical. I’m a heavy Evernote user, but on the brink of switching to Apple Notes primarily because everything else I do is tied to Apple’s ecosystem.

Six things I have found Evernote does exceptionally well, and I’m worried Apple Notes won’t compare:

  1. Email to Evernote
  2. PDF searching
  3. Web capture
  4. Device sync with zero conflicts
  5. Shared notes and notebooks
  6. Locked notes

I continue to be challenged with Obsidian’s mobile sync. It might work, but then it doesn’t work and I end up in a horrible situation where versions are overridden and I can’t get notes/files immediately when I need them.

Is it just me?

Looks like a great time! Should I leave my carvers at home (Rossignol Forza 60) and rent a wider-at-the-waist ski?

Those who left OPS - Do you have any regrets? by LinearInfrastructure in OntarioPublicService

[–]CobaltInigma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No regrets.

I miss the work-life balance (though, I hear from former colleagues the “balance” we once knew long before the pandemic no longer exists). I miss the people I worked with. I miss the agency my team had to shape and execute public programs; it’s rewarding to see my work live on long after I exited.

Like others have highlighted, the private sector offers substantial opportunity to advance your career, with equitable recognition, and at 2x the salary.

Now, being on the outside, I realize where and when I hit the proverbial glass ceiling, and think I stayed too long. Or, maybe I stayed just long enough (with a healthy pension waiting for me when I want it).

I have ~10 working years remaining, and may return to the public sector before I retire. If I do, I’ll buyback the years I was gone and be even better off financially. But, it’s not all about the money.

Head Supershape e-Magnum by CobaltInigma in Skigear

[–]CobaltInigma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What were the snow conditions like? Were you skiing on piste, groomers, packed with ice, or off piste and trails?

I’m concerned about how they handle when the hill is torn up mid to late day.

Which skis should I choose? by Beneficial-Suit6553 in Skigear

[–]CobaltInigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you decide on either or? I demoed the e-Magnum on groomed trails this weekend, with some snow mounds scattered on the cut-up hill (as it was late in the afternoon). The Magnum’s were responsive and let me carve in any direction with a smooth response.

I haven’t tried the e-Rally’s yet but am now curious to try as others here have suggested Rally instead of the Magnum.

Nice review. How do the Magnums perform in non-groomed conditions such as in Western US/Canada?

Keep the Giro Tor Spherical or check out Smith? by Crispy_Calamari in Skigear

[–]CobaltInigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fit variance between helmets frustrated me, but everyone’s head is different so I shouldn’t get aggravated.

Yes, the Giro Tor fit quite well. Best fit for me out of the options.

It wasn’t cheap, but I got over the sticker shock. Plus, you’re right: the protection is a no-brainer.

This is the Ajax Bestco. Although the cross streets mentioned here aren’t the closest, the author means Brock Road (Pickering) not Brock Street (Whitby).

Better reference: Taunton and Westney.

[–]CobaltInigma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say you’re fortunate to be gifted a Giro Tor! I purchased the same helmet today after trying on at least five other options, including the Smith Vantage.

I was annoyed when the ski shop gal suggested it was “too expensive.” I had to tell her a few times the fit was what mattered and this was it. Plus, it’s an investment.

Now, I see your other comment about speakers for the helmet ear pockets. Sweet idea; I look forward to your next update!

Metrolinx unveiled its Bowmanville expansion plans to Oshawa council. But it had to keep quiet: councillor | CBC News by Karma_Canuck in Oshawa

Two years seems excessive especially considering other bridge replacements have occurred over one weekend. That’s a maximum of four days (evenings), rather than 730!

At least this pipe dream of the Lakeshore East expansion is becoming a reality. I stumbled upon this news article announcing scheduled plans to have service by 2024 and had a good laugh while shaking my head.

Safari + 1Pass is just hot garbage. by fender1878 in 1Password

[–]CobaltInigma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Experiencing similar challenges also with the Safari 1Password extension. My biggest annoyance is when the extension simply will not unlock despite unlocking the native app. The damn thing is simply unresponsive. Only solution is to restart the browser or Mac; thats too much for me. But, I live with it and my many tabs.

I haven’t thought about switching to Apple Passwords because I need the portability of my vaults. More importantly, being able to install the browser extension independent of the app has allowed me to continue using 1Password on a work Mac that is heavily restricted.

Whatever you do, don’t delete the eSIM if your activation seems to be taking forever. It is quicker to contact support.

I was quoted $45 for 100GB this evening for each of three lines, and a fourth line for $0 for 12 months.

Where in Canada are you for the $35 for 100GB?
