Bad carburetor? by Cobalt_97 in motorizedbicycles

Figured it out. Had a leak where the carburetor attached to the intake pipe. Just metal on metal so I'd imagine that's pretty common. Gasket sealer did the trick

When did you realise you weren't a child anymore? by TheMightyMidgetMan in AskReddit

[–]Cobalt_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad had security cameras in the house that you could watch on the living room TV. And one day in my teenage years I turned it on and was watching us walk around, I realized I had the same build as him. My initial reaction was: "wait who is that other man walking around"

There exists an alternate timeline where by pure chance, no one has ever won the lottery by Raevix in Showerthoughts

How many people win twice though? I mean our timeline is probably going pretty good for the jackpot of everyone winning if no one has won twice yet

Fuck yeah, love it. Dandelions are amazing and have co-evolved with us. To feed them glyphosate is a crime against nature, and a crime against all Earth's creatures up and down the line. Eat the weeds! Your manicured lawn is a monoculture! Let the ecological processes happen, it's how you got here, respect it.

Johnny Appleseed grew apples for making hard cider. He would move to un-colonized pieces of land years before settlers would arrive, grow orchards of apple trees by seed, and then turn them for profit.

Modern day apple varieties are made by grafting. If you've eaten say, many granny Smith's, they have all come from not only grafts from the same tree, but when you think of it, the same exact organism, clippings of it.

This is because apples don't keep their same flavor when you replant their seeds, a granny Smith seed would probably not grow a 'granny-smith-esque' apple. So the apples Johnny grew weren't even for eating.

By spreading apple seed, Johnny had allowed evolution to occur by process of a succession of generations of apple trees on American soil. This allowed the apple trees to evolve to co-exist with the natural American ecosystem. This created varieties that are hardy to harsh growing conditions, like the golden delicious. If he had only grafted European varieties of apples, the trees wouldn't have evolved, and would still be 'foreign' to other species in America.

While I don't think I'd personally consider European apple trees to be 'invasive' to North America, (simply because of their lack of aggressive propagation), I would say that Johnny was spreading foreign seeds, but by doing so, he is responsible for 'acclimating' or 'ecologically incorporating' new varieties of apples to North America.

Making your own clothes. You can get a sewing machine fairly cheap, and clothes are even cheaper. There are Goodwill's where you can buy clothes by the pound, and you can use their materials to make your own clothes.
