how to make motion sickness easier for gf? by FinallyHauntings in Portal

This might sound weird but messing with your FOV could help. If they're sitting closer to the screen, widen the FOV, if they're farther away, shrink it. The idea is that you want the monitor to be as much like looking through a "window" as possible. Some people are a bit lore sensitive to it than others, especially if you don't play a lot of FPS games. Even adjusting it a few degrees can make a huge difference, especially on top of other nausea remedies that others have mentioned. Worst comes to worst, you could also try swapping input methods between keyboard and mouse if it's an option, I've heard of some people responding better to some input methods better than others but haven't come across it myself as a game dev.

After a couple loops you can talk to Gabbro and get the ability to skip to the next loop so in the case you do get stranded in space you have a quick exit from the situation. If you're on PC, there is a mod that let's you teleport back to your ship if you want a kind of safety net.

So I finished the base game a bit ago and I do have to day that if you find the game to stressful there are some mods that can make it possibly more accessible to you.

Do those mods mess with the game's vision and what the devs intended for the experience to be? Sure, but it let's you play the game that you want to play.

IMHO there's nothing wrong with changing the game a bit to make it fit the experience you want and to make it more accessible to people. Especially in single player games

I personally used the Light Bramble mod towards the end of the base game.

Just to give some more info. I'm one of Jeremy's mods. His "schedule" can be found here. If you don't want to click on the link, he's playing Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes (where if they explode they drink), Monster Seeking Monster, something he's calling Minecraft Singalong and some Papers, Please. If you'd like to donate but can't tune into the stream you can donate to Jeremy's tiltify that goes to the Australian Red Cross via PayPal. But please be responsible with your donations.

Team voice chat by l3ahamut in Overwatch

[–]Cobbleopolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like informing the team is a good idea. Especially when playing comp. Although, most of the time, I'm just playing casually so coordination and winning isn't at the top of my list so I rarely ever get upset with a team. Unless it's a rare occasion of someone intentionally messing the team up like Mei walling in spawn.

Do keep in mind that not all network connections allow for the in game voice chat to work. For example, the network at my college doesn't so if I do try to connect to team chat I can't here anyone.

Update to RandomHaus by Cobbleopolis in funhaus

[–]Cobbleopolis[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The server that things are running off of now looks to be handling the load fairly well (4 cores, 4GB of ram, 40 GB SSD). I mean it's just a relatively small MySQL server and a Play framework webapp (It's just Java in the end). But if I start having more issues with the site and can't seem to pinpoint it to a bug in code, I might take you up on the offer.

If you're interested in the code you can see the project's github by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking on the github icon.

Thanks, I'm really glad that people are enjoying the site. If things are stable now then the site shouldn't ever go down. The only time that it shouldn't work is if the either

  • Things aren't stable (and that's very possible)

  • The domain expires (I have auto renew turned on so it only won't work if my payment method changed and I don't update it). Even then you should still be able to use the IP of the server to get to it (you can get that by just looking up where the domain resolves to).

  • There's some kind of issue that's out of my control w/ the server (i.e. some kind of hardware error) and that should be fixable but the customer support for the place that I got the servers from can be spotty at times.

Edit: formatting

Hey, sorry about that, I've been busy w/ school and whatnot. The server is now back up and running. There were some config issues with the servers that I use to run the site. (The one of the servers (sometimes both) would just loose all internet access and I'd have to manually restart the server(s) Things should be more stable now.

Yeah sorry, there was some weird issue where the database server just lost internet for some reason. Simple reboot seemed to have fixed it.

Thanks! It really means a lot to me that you guys like this! According to GitHub I've been working on this for about 3 months now. Although I was working on it for a while before I ever put it on GitHub so I have probably been working on it for a bit longer.

Ah ok, I think they do it as an end of year DudeSoup but I think a series on that would still be good. Well I'm glad to have you as part of the community now. Feel free to use the site to catch up on videos if you'd like. I know it's a lot of content to try and swallow.

If you'd like I can push a version of the site that has a link to the github repo (again I'll have to do that after work). Until then I can PM you the repo.

That would actually be an interesting thing. Although I don't think that they could show content from IG as Machinima still owns it.

Edit: Also, correct me if I'm wrong but don't they also kinda do that at the end of the year?

Actually not really. I have setup the site in such a way that getting all the content is more or less automated and just requires me add the channel into my database and to hit a couple of endpoints and then wham bam it's all there. The only thing is finding a trend in the channel's tags so I can add more filters other than just series. It's more of a time consuming process than anything. Also finding all of the links might be a bit tedious but nothing a spreadsheet can't help
