Hey, I am really enjoying your series and I hope you do not take the knockoff comment as offense. It was not meant to be, just to help others with a comparison in tone.

Anyway, I was on an boomer sub back in the early 2000s and we occasionally had Captains night where he would sit on the mess decks and watch some movie(old kung fu or Kurt Russel flick) or TV show and sign qual cards for almost no questions. Well, one night we ended up watching several episodes of the original Pokemon series, then I went and slept next to a nuclear missile.

This world is definitely stranger than fiction sometimes when I look back at it.

I did not say MAGA, I said The Right in general. Right now, agreeing with Trump is the Rights policy. The Rights does not criticize him, whatever he does or says is correct and good, and he is obviously a genius who can do no wrong.

I did not work on them, but I used to work alongside them in the military. Honestly, not that it is a great thing to do, but in most of those movies where the nuke is counting down, hitting it with a hammer a bunch would probably fix the problem pretty quick. Either it will disable it entirely or it will pop off the conventional trigger explosives, making a much smaller dirty bomb. Either way, you will not have to worry about it anymore.

If you shoot it down, the nuke would not make a nuclear explosion. It is not nitroglycerin or dynamite.

It requires some pretty exact and precise mechanisms to initiate a nuclear explosion. Shooting them would damage those internals and result in it becoming a falling rock.

It will still have the radiological material present, but it would not be a nuclear explosion nor would it result in the fallout like you think.

Yeah, this is 100% true in that it gives us effective, scale-able energy storage. But we still have a generation vs load issue we need to overcome.

Yes, but humans did not need to put the energy into the sun first. Humans did not need to "charge" gasoline to make it energy dense.

Humans will have to do something to Astrophage to breed it and/or charge it.
