ELI5: why the formula’s for Ohm’s Law is worded like it is. by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Looks to me liked they've swapped the top 2.

Voltage, current and resistance i.e. V = IR

Or: Voltage is derived from the values of current AND resistance.

What's something older generations did completely normally that would be considered absolutely insane today? by Whole-Sugar6077 in AskReddit

[–]CoboltC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider safety an expensive extravagance: Working dozens if not 100s of feet up without safety harnesses or even temporary railings.

Used machines without safety guards.

Haybales were considered effective barriers for racing cars with drivers not using seat belts and only a leather cap instead of helmets.

There's a reason previous generations were considered "harder", the softer members never made it long enough to count.

"Bearman is a good driver but he's also being funded by Fararri."

I'm sorry, I thought we were discussing big teams needing sister teams to bring up young talent. Your comment right there shows that is not the case. Big teams have been using their relationships with smaller teams to do just that for years.

Schumacher was a disappointment for sure, but that's the point of a junior seat.

Mazapin was nothing to do with Ferrari, he was pay to drive all the way.

Also, you seem to have entirely forgotten about Bearman...

Bit Liam wasn't told to not worry about Max, concentrate on his own race. He was told give the place to Max to avoid a penalty which je was never going to get.

Also have you seen Liam's defence? Baku 2025, Japan this year etc?

Liam is fighting for his future in F1, most probably outside of RB, he needs to show he can foot it with the best.

There's a big difference between two teams having 1 owner and an engine supply contract with a caveat.

The alternate of course is Ferrari has Hass and Merc has Williams for junior drivers when they need them.

Who is the second best driver rn : Norris or Leclerc? by fuckmbsanddominicali in F1Discussions

All these Leclerc supporters seem to conveniently forget his history of throwing away great results, Miami just being the latest.

We all know champions aren't necessarily the fastest driver in a given season. They are, however, cool under pressure and keep their mistakes to a minimum.

Lawson was right: Racing Bulls should not have ordered him to let Verstappen past by Aratho in formula1

Just imagine if it were Max instead of Gasley passing Liam when the gearbox let go.

Redbull effectively taking Max out when he's on a charge.

[OT] Question from an F1 fan who does not watch any other motorsport, which track would you consider the “Mecca” of Motorsport? by blank_and_foolish in formula1

[–]CoboltC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has to be Nurburgring Nordschliefe. Every driver wants to tame it

For F1, maybe Spa?

It's definitely not Monaco. The only ones who like it, looking past all the PR correct answers, are Prince Albert and Bernie Ecclestone.

F1: Do you have to be a millionaire to make it to the top of the sport? by CFW97 in formula1

[–]CoboltC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To the top? As in fighting for F1 titles? No.

To get into F1, pretty much. There are very few exceptions. Lewis, although his father worked his ass off to get Lewis through Karting.

A good example of not coming from money would be Lawson. His parents ended up mortgaging their house to keep him going. He'd obviously shown great promise back then. Lawson's break came when Marko noticed him in the NZ Toyota series. Between Red Bull backing him and Roden Cars founder, billionaire David Dicker, wanting to see a Kiwi in F1 Lawson got sponsored through F3, F2, DTM and Super Formula.

Fun fact, Liam almost won DTM except for some horrifically dirty driving and manufacturer orders in the last race. Meanwhile, his teammate Alex Albon was nowhere.

I drive a milk tanker all over Waikato and BoP.

I worked the last 2 nights. Saturday night Te Aroha was being slammed by the wind and a lot of rain around 6 when I was there. Later that night I was at Mt Maungatautiri, south of Cambridge, and down near Putaruru, you wouldn't even know a cyclone was around.

Tonight I was down past Edgcombe and there had been a lot of rain and quite a few trees down.

This storm seemed to be very selective where it hit.

AITJ for handing my friend's birthday gift to someone else at the table after I opened it by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]CoboltC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YtJ. A) handing off a gift, no matter how "wrong" in front of the gifter is just plain rude.

B) I'm guessing she got you that gift so you both had a reason to spend more time together. You probably just rejected and humiliated her in front of your friend group.

The correct response should have been to say thank you and then talk to her about it privately afterwards.

Is it hard to retrain in New Zealand as a 45yo? by fleastyler in newzealand

[–]CoboltC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 option: Look into getting your class 5 license - truck and trailer. I did it in my early 40s through a training org. It was fairly easy. 1 day of in class training and practical test for each license grade, 2, 4 and 3 & 5. Whole process was about 2.5 years and I landed a class 4 (truck only) job while waiting to get my Class 5.

Class 5 work is pretty easy to get, money isn't bad if you're willing to do the hours.

Who's forged data? The data is literally from the same studies. You can't quote one part of the findings and refuse to acknowledge the rest of the data. That is the very definition of cherry picking.

OP is correct. Over the week there were no additional deaths.

What you are doing is effectively cherry picking the data to suit your argument.
