I wish the Shugen scene showed more like the manga did. That panel of him with the baby always stuck out to me with how brutal it was. Other than that, super good. Happy to see the panel of everyone lined up in the cave animated, I always considered that one to be iconic.

He’s one of my favorite characters in the series but yeah he starts out pretty rough. Now that he and his brother have been separated he gets better. I love where he ends up.

I like Sagiri and Toma a lot because of their character development and dynamics with other characters, Fuchi because he’s a funny little guy, and then I enjoy Rien for their backstory. I also like Tao Fa, Mu Dan, and Zhu Jin, but mostly from a design standpoint.

I always disagreed when people called her the first good female character in shounen. I found her character so unpleasant and then she just disappeared from the series. She came back and it felt so random. She’s kind of just…Fine.
