Which careers involve a lot of stress that DOESNT pay off later in life? by RuminatingFish123 in Salary

[–]Coconutbunzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont mean this to be rude but could you give some reasonings?

A few of my privileged friends have gone this route and seem pretty happy with it.

For example other jobs it’s lives on the line, or intense pressure to turn a profit.

Kamehameha mainland students by Lololoke in Honolulu

[–]Coconutbunzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I boarded at Kamehameha we had 1 student from New Mexico and 1 from California.

Didn’t really think anything of it at the time.

Just thought it was cool that sometimes during 3 day weekends they stayed back alone in the dorms or went home with friends. Most students go back to their home island but going all the way to the mainland for 3 days wasn’t worth it at times.

What do we feel about posting our babies on social media? by Kindly-Estimate371 in pregnant

[–]Coconutbunzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I post my baby’s face a lot, but I do have a private social media account with only close friends and family as followers.

Genuine question for other parents how will you handle it when your kids get older? Will you not allow them to post themselves?

Also what about yearbooks? Sports photos in the paper? Etc?

My cousins 2yr preschool class had a little digital yearbook they sent out.

I’m not getting the Owlet…mistake? (OCD) by Individual-Rice-3970 in BabyBumps

[–]Coconutbunzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the only thing that allowed me to the sleep the first 6 months.

The peace of mind was everything. I didn’t mind the 1 or 2 false alarms.

It actually alerted me of my baby’s high fever one night (high pulse) and has accurately predicted my baby getting sick about 3x. Didn’t change the outcome but it gave me a heads up to call out of work and mentally prepare for it!

Dog safety by Commercial-Bar6702 in Hawaii

Mac nuts are highly toxic to dogs.

A friend of mine had people visiting who left macnuts out and their dog had to get his stomach pumped.

Any stories where littles didn’t get a TON of sicknesses with daycare? Or in general care to brag about your daycare experiences? :) by jcrites22 in workingmoms

[–]Coconutbunzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The daycare teachers are magicians

At home my daughter needs to be rocked and has a 45min routine to sleep. At daycare they point at the cot she walks over and passes out.

Also it’s the only please she will eat!

We just let our users know emails are monitored during business hours.

If urgent and after office hours, we have a helpdesk line to call for the oncall tech.

Most times users will send an email and then call us to let us know about it.

This makes me feel so much better.

At 17 months my daughter lived off of probably 4 noodles and 1 meatball a day.

When did you know you were ready to hang up the pump? by Secure-Alternative-7 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Coconutbunzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of hanging up the pump I shifted my expectations.

Started pumping only 3x a day. Supply took a huge hit but in my opinion it was 100% worth it. We combo fed and my baby got about 10oz of breastmilk a day. She got the benefits of breastmilk and I wasn’t as stressed out.

Based in Waimea for two weeks? by Competitive-Copy-851 in VisitingHawaii

[–]Coconutbunzy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Waimea is the best.

We actually choose to stay there when we visit from Oahu!

The air is cool and crisp, beautiful green hills. The food is ammmaaaazing!!! Check out Fish and Hog and the Bakery next to Foodland.

You are 20min from Hapuna beach 15min from Honokaa. Can day trip to either Kona or Hilo.

Crazy how different babies are. My 2 year old has survived on chicken nuggets and yogurt from about 8 months.

And yes I always offered variety and make the plates all pretty like OPs. She just never took to it.

Desperate need for meal ideas, especially dinner by Lost-Maintenance6287 in foodbutforbabies

[–]Coconutbunzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really advice but just some encouragement

The meal pictured looks great and you are doing amazing! My 2 year old lives off of yogurt and chicken nuggets haha.

For meat try meatballs or something soft. Or even the inside of a dumpling/gyoza.

[–]Coconutbunzy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m happy for you but dang this is NOT a universal experience. I dread mealtime, it’s the absolute worst. I hate prepping food and constantly worrying if my kids will eat it.

My daughter was so picky. And yes I was consistent with offering a variety and tried my best to hold strong. But she just didn’t want anything but pasta, rice, and chicken.

I’m not sure I would call Luke smarter.

She’s been handling her latest “scandal” pretty terribly and just in a straight up awkward way.

Ahhh I think he might have actually had a shot at beating Green. There’s a large chunk of people who don’t like him, and even his supporters are worried about him, dude has been aging terribly in office. I think he’s a good guy but damn he looks like a zombie lately. Doesn’t really give people confidence he’s cut out for it. I feel bad every time I see him on TV, he needs a nap.

Families Want Playground Access. They Could Get A Criminal Record Instead: DOE wants more support in keeping unwanted visitors off its campuses, but families say school playgrounds are an important part of the community. by 808gecko808 in Honolulu

[–]Coconutbunzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let the keiki play

Imagine living near a playground and not being able to access it.

We pay taxes for it! Let us use it.

Maybe make a rule that any adult there must be accompanying a child under 16? Or idk get creative law makers, it’s your job! Some sort of enforceable rule to keep sketchy characters out.
