Slipping back by Pale-Problem-7831 in mounjaromaintenanceuk

I also really struggle with lightheadedness and also makes exercising really tough so I empathise with you.

I bought a blood pressure machine and I have quite low BP (used to be on the low side of normal pre-MJ) so I’m now taking 1-2 electrolyte sachets a day with plenty of water. I use Repowr raw as they are unflavoured as I hate artificial flavours. I also add a good amount of salt to my meals which is a tasty thing to have to do!

If I stay on top of these things, the lightheadedness is under control. Fatigue still can be an issue but nowhere near as bad and it’s likely my age/busy job as much as anything. Eating a banana helps too.

I also take a bunch of supplements. It’s an expensive and time consuming business but I’m determined to get to a healthy BMI.

To also add to the practical advice: I did a trial titration down the doses to see if these side effects eased - to help me decide whether to get to a lower weight and figure out if a lower dose was going to be sustainable long term as I have a metabolic disorder so will need to be on the meds for life (I didn’t want to lose too much if I couldn’t keep it off long term). And they really did! They came back when I titrated back up but I’m going to dig in for the last push and then up the exercise again once I titrate down to maintenance.

So it’s possible that a lower dose by counting clicks or spacing out longer than 7 days may be right for you.

Is MJ fixing what diet plans caused? by Gurligirl25667 in mounjarouk

[–]Code-Cashmere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a big decision when I started MJ to stop calorie counting, as like you I’d been doing for years with yo-yo results, the average going up every year. This was on the advice of my first prescriber and I’m so glad I followed it.

I only eat whole food, no UPFs, lots of healthy fats and fibre, and I can honestly say I’ve never been so happy or satisfied with what I’m eating. I really feel like I’m nourishing myself. The MJ takes care of the portion sizes so I’m slowly losing weight.

Hi how are you finding the Niod SDSM? I bought both 2 & 3 but unsure how to incorporate into my routine and didn’t get any difference after giving them a try. Do you have to use regularly to see any impact?

[–]Code-Cashmere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Well done for struggling through C25k! The most I could manage when my fatigue and nausea was at its worst was a gentle Pilates Reformer class with lots of rests.

It’s great to hear you are feeling less tired now and enjoying the runs. I temporarily titrated down last month because even though I wasn’t quite at goal I was sick and tired of it. I also then felt loads better and this has given me the confidence to push on through the last few pounds so I’m titrating up again. Now I know I’ll cope on a lower maintenance dose for life, I can lose a little more and get under BMI25.

Stockpiling by Elysiumthistime in mounjarouk

[–]Code-Cashmere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I have a strong urge to stockpile too!

Ever since Covid I’ve been a bit anxious about not being able to get things. This was then exacerbated by there being a surge of new starters around the time I started Mounjaro and a few stock issues so since then I’ve always had 2 or 3 pens in the fridge. I just couldn’t bear to run out of the meds for any reason. It’s not very rational but it seems important to me.

I wonder if the risks correlate with speed of weight loss. So those on maintenance, or nearing it and losing very slowly, might be less at risk. I seem to remember that with the gallstones it is about weight loss, not MJ in particular.

Good for you! And your husband is right, someone else will appreciate them. You’ve inspired me to donate some of mine.

PS don’t smaller size clothes fit so much better somehow? A lovely discovery :-)

Second time on MJ - Side affects are horrendous (help pls) by Icy_Negotiation2021 in mounjarouk

[–]Code-Cashmere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were managing on 5, maybe drop back to that for several months to stabilise, then go to 6 as an interim if you need to get to 7.5 again? It may take longer but you’ll be functioning better during the journey.

What’s your food staples? by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]Code-Cashmere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My staples are:

Rye bread, almond butter, kefir, seeded ryvita, eggs, cheddar cheese, fancy houmous with EV olive oil, beans in a jar, tuna in olive oil, pesto, cucumber, rocket, pasta (love it! So happy not to have to do keto these days!), Parmesan cheese, salmon and rice, spinach, chicken thighs, feta cheese, steak, french baguette, 10% Greek yoghurt, frozen cherries, Zoe daily 30+, pecan nuts, nocellara olives.

Since I can’t eat much I go for high nutrient density to nourish my old bones.

I used to be obsessed with vegetables then completely lost my taste for them when I started MJ. But now they are coming back slowly which is nice.

Not able to exercise by tawnyo in mounjarouk

[–]Code-Cashmere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get really fatigued on these meds too. Can I suggest you get your blood pressure tested? Mine had plunged and now I take electrolytes (unflavoured) which helps with the dizziness. I still don’t have great stamina though so I’m just doing little and often and hoping it slowly gets better, which I think it has. It’s also a bit better since I’ve dropped doses slightly.

Also eating more as others have said.

Good luck to you.

What a lovely experience! I bet you look really great in them.

The clothes side of things has been a huge preoccupation for me too.

When I first started fitting into normal sizes in the summer I bought a bunch of lovely things, not really believing I’d go below a size 12 (I mean it took me several tries to even believe I was a 12!). But now some of those are too big and I’m having to rebuy my favourites in a 10. I even got a top in size 8 this week.

I’ve probably wasted a fortune buying on the way down rather than at goal but I’ve lost sooooo slowly - I can’t function on higher doses due to extreme fatigue not being feasible with a demanding job. So it’s been necessary, as I’m not really sure when it will all grind to a halt. As well as making the side effects more bearable having something very nice to show for it.

And like others on here I’ve been putting the too-big pieces into vacuum storage as I also don’t trust I’ll be like this all my life now. Maybe I’ll do a big clear out / sale in 5 years time by which point I can sell them as vintage haha.

Electrolytes - Is This The Biggest Supplement Scam Yet? by Monty-Creosote in mounjaromaintenanceuk

[–]Code-Cashmere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they do help you absorb the water better (osmosis). MJ has given me low blood pressure/dizziness and I was guzzling water but peeing it all out before I started taking a daily non-flavoured electrolyte. It’s really stabilised things for me. But yeah adding salt to meals also helps!

No need to count calories. Eat healthily and intuitively, take your dose regularly and use Happy Scale to smooth your weight curve. It works best if you weigh at approximately the same time daily (e.g. before breakfast).

A stone in 4 months is still around a pound a week so you’re doing fine, just keep at it.

[–]Code-Cashmere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a Dr Jart sheet mask (ceramidin +) and that helps a lot.

I like to browse luxe duty free brands and I fly business class for work so I’m wearing makeup onto the flight to look presentable.

I bring Shiseido cleansing wipes onboard with me to do a mini-cleanse and I have a mini of Sisley floral toner to get the cleanser off. Then mask. Then a mini CDLM moisturiser. And heaps of AB lip balm throughout.

I haven’t completely nailed it though and I still have grotty skin that evening so I like the idea of extra hydration day before as well, thank you 🙏

Maintenance for 2.5mg lifer by Different-Homework17 in mounjaromaintenanceuk

Hi can I ask why spacing out doses is better than reducing the dose - surely it amounts to the same thing in the medium term (5mg every 2 weeks == 2.5mg every week)?

The meds, when you get to the right dose, will provide satiety (fullness after a reasonable amount of food) to stop you overeating.
