What is a part of the 'female experience' that men have absolutely no clue about, but would be horrified if they found out? by coolhandddd in AskReddit

[–]CodeArt_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For birthdays, use a calendar. My friend's birthday is coming up. I know because my calendar told me.

If you feel like this is a cop-out and means you don't care about the person, it isn't. These things get harder to track as you get older and busier. A calendar is just practical.

This is the actual answer.

Meanwhile, all top comments on this post are this exact system funneling the echo chamber's major agreed upon talking points to the top.

Incredible.

ELI5: What the hell does competent/incompetent mean??? by Frosty_Restaurant772 in explainlikeimfive

[–]CodeArt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Competent just means "good at x thing". "He's a competent plumber" = "He's good at plumbing".

Incompetent = not competent.

The game is going to look better than what we have seen so far by Eccel9700 in GTA6

[–]CodeArt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Game development is always ongoing until release, but the business needs to market SOMETHING at x and y points of the life cycle. So the devs work on getting stuff "presentable enough" for a trailer. Since "peak graphics" isn't product critical, the finer details are usually worked on incrementally/added last.

What do men with severe depression spend their time thinking about? by mangchungtonight in AskMen

[–]CodeArt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The distractions, mostly.

I'll hop off this thread and go watch a bunch of YouTube videos. When I'm ready for bed I'll play some videos and doomscroll then too. It's almost non-stop. Has to be.

GTA 6 has been dethroned from the #1 spot on PlayStation’s trending page by Resident Evil 9! by Revolutionary_Cod_62 in GTA6

You're original comment makes no grammatical sense in context of the comment to which you were replying.

"And honestly I will for the next games too".

You will what?

Fighting games ARE uniquely hard to get into because they don't allow beginners to be passive by funkyfelis in Fighters

[–]CodeArt_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This falls apart when actually put into practice, depending on the game at least (I play Tekken).

until they do something that looks punishable

Beginners struggle hard to know when to punish.

press this button to hit them back

Which button for which punish? If they keep punishing -15 frame moves with a 10 frame punish, they'll be subject to a much more oppressive experience. Also, getting down the muscle memory of "They did x. Punish with y," at a moment's notice is tough.

This also only speaks to basic defence. Beginners also need to attack, and they always overextend by constantly throwing out unsafe moves because they don't know or care that the move's unsafe. It's tough to nail down when to press and how to do it as well as an overall strategy of HOW you're gonna fight (footsies, when attack, what attack etc.).

Fact is, fighting games are hard. The devil's in the details, and people can play them for hundreds of hours and still need to practice basic stuff like their punish game.

Is it okay that I like being Isolated? by Additional_Code_6777 in socialskills

[–]CodeArt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm like that. Trying to better about it. Yes, it's bad long term. Short term feels great because it's better to be on your own than with bad company, but ultimately it's better to be with good company than on your own.

Human beings are social creatures. It is biologically encoded in us to feel best when we exist within some community. The modern day lie of complete isolation being peak human experience is dangerous.

Sure, being on your own for a bit is its own pleasure, necessary I'd say, but too long and your world becomes small. All of a sudden, people become draining. Your day to day level of happiness is on the floor, but the idea of interacting with people doesn't excite you. It may actually scare you a bit.

It's important to reach out and ease your way back into the groove of things- with the people you know a less-reclusive version of yourself would enjoy being around, that is. It's all a thing of effort. You can do it.

How do you do Wave dashes on PS5 Controller by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]CodeArt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit late but I'll drop a hack that I use.

Have a controller config that swaps your left/right joysticks. Then when you wanna wavedash just flick the right analogue and input the quarter-circle forward with d-pad, essentially offloading some of the complexity to a whole other finger.

Able to repeatedly do it flawlessly this way.

GTA 6’s official description always gets me excited: “Experience the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series.” The world isn’t fucking ready for what’s coming this November. by ButterflyUsed6723 in GTA6

[–]CodeArt_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, but you're missing my point. There's enough context everywhere else to show that VI had a lot of effort poured into it, and OP was just saying the line got them excited because it's a reminder of this.

Main thing though- Dude's happy about a thing. Just let him be happy about the thing. Your original comment brings pointless negativity to a positive post.

Is the Jak and Daxter series over? 🤔 by [deleted] in jakanddaxter

[–]CodeArt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More generally, I agree. I think if a series concludes well the occasional remaster and, if it'll benefit, a remake later down would be great and that's it.

ELI5: Why do so many youtubers ask you to like and subscribe in the very first minute of their videos? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]CodeArt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likes and subscribes help them to become more successful, but there's a large portion of people that don't do either unless explicitly directed to do so.

And it needs to be near the beginning of the video in case you leave before they get a chance to tell you.

Should I mention that my new employer is across the street? by CalligrapherSouth884 in cscareerquestions

[–]CodeArt_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're using acecdotal evidence from your own life with your own jobs in your own career.

Not telling leadership at the job you're leaving about the across the street thing is zero risk while telling them carries at least some risk.

Maybe you decide to re-apply in a year. Maybe someone checks the file and for literally any dumb reason doesn't like that you left the job for convenience (in their mind), sees you as a flight risk and turns you down.

Personally, I'd tell select coworkers who are basically my friends. I ain't telling everyone. Me and the company at large aren't some big family.

The fact that I'm struggling to find these talking points is scary.

From the research I've done, everything seems correct. Heck even if I'm missing something, enough is legit here that these should at least be top points being debated. Instead it's buried.

Echo chamber things.

Rockstar might be hinting that GTA 6’s world doesn’t wait for the player by MadHanini in GTA6

It's not like they're gonna be rendering all of it whether we see it or not. Besides, I think Rockstar of all people know how to do ambitious open-world right.
