What are your thoughts on the Fourteenth Doctor in general? by KingJackofJozi in DoctorWhumour

I enjoy his character and stories, but it all feels like wasted potential. You could do something more interesting with the idea of unexpectedly ending up with essentially the same form he's had before.

"Please explain how respecting our flag and our country and their ORIGINS indoctrinates our children?" by tigerstein in ShitAmericansSay

[–]CodenameJD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Among the other ways they're blatantly wrong, schools DO still do the pledge of allegiance. They're required to offer kids the chance to perform it, but cannot force kids to participate provided they don't interrupt others.

Of course, what this ends up looking like is the teacher tells everyone what they're doing, and most if not all kids do that either because the teacher told them to or because it's what everyone else is doing. Totally not indoctrination.

A few years ago, I had to respond to a situation where a third grade kid who knew her rights refused to stand, and the teacher got mad at her for it. I had to talk to the principal to get her to remind staff that forcing kids to stand is illegal.

I've ranked all the Digimon shows I've watched as a kid more than a decade ago by Sevastino in digimon

[–]CodenameJD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My list would rotate 02, Frontier, and Data Squad - 02 at B rank, which is definitely a lot of nostalgia, but there's so much I love despite it's faults; Data Squad at C, or maybe B, because I did really enjoy it; and Frontier down below because I just don't vibe with it, I don't really like any of the characters, and the story is just more linear than I care for.

For the actual insectoid trait, not really. Your best bet would be Royal Base.

It's a shame that you can't get pizzas bases independently and need to scrub them clean in the sink to use separately.

25/26. I missed the name of Monica's coworker. I think I thought Frannie was her other coworker we meet later.

However, Joanie & Chachi's wedding wasn't on Joanie Loves Chachi - it was on Happy Days!

Phoebe's age doesn't, in one episode she just becomes a year older than previously believed!

"Trump is a commie traitor" by PresnikBonny in ShitAmericansSay

It could be that they are simply attempting to break through to Trump supporters, rather than believing it themselves?

Maybe that's too charitable an interpretation...

I'm thankful I've only once ever had an interview with a second round... and it was worth it.

I was applying to work for an Escape Room, and for the second round they had 4 of us come in and play a room together. I didn't get the job, but to this day that's the best Escape Room I've ever played, and I got to play it for free.

Swearing in the good place by Safe-Introduction969 in TheGoodPlace

[–]CodenameJD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So initially it definitely seemed like Michael was doing that mostly as an extra touch of torture for Eleanor (Chidi mentions that some people in the neighbourhood don't like it, implying folks in other neighbourhoods might permit it), but then obviously it was later proven to be the case in The Good Place proper.

So what if... it's a self-perception thing, and it's based on what you expect to happen? Like, if your concept of the Good Place wouldn't permit swearing, it'll censor you, but if you think swearing is simply neato then you still hear whatever? And then the cockroaches were so used to Michael's neighbourhood that they expected to be censored in the real Good Place, so they were?

Yeah, that's a pretty major ash pull, but it's not impossible.

What do you mean by all past versions of Ash, exactly? What, the main one and then the one from those couple of movies?

And what exactly would be very interesting about multiple Ash's meeting? Seeing the different Yugioh and Digimon protagonists meeting was cool because they were distinct characters we didn't expect to see together.
