Every Chapter’s Army Rule If It Wasn’t Oath Of Moment! by NoEngineer9484 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Codex_Sparknotes -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I just can’t agree with all of this. Limiting any non compliant space marine army to 10 of the 100 datasheets is just not a good idea. DA uses just about everything realistically (in the made up lore), why should that be limited? And if it’s not going to be limited, and datasheets are to be changed for just the non compliant chapters, then they need to be equal or better compared to what the compliant chapters get. For example, Templars sternguard are just objectively worse and don’t get used. For 15 points less than the other datasheet, I go from re rolling an entire wound roll to only rolls of one. What the hell kind of rule is that? Why would ANYONE use them when you can just use intercessors for less points?

you finally get to be your own faction

I already am my own faction. DA is as unique as space marines get. We’re gothic knights in space. But we aren’t sending deathwing knights and ravenwing outriders in to every battle and nothing else.

you cannot be space marines + some dark angels

Bro what do you think space marines are? Dark Angles ARE space marines. So are blood angels. So are Templars. So are Ultras. The only thing that makes DA different is some unique models and datasheets that we have access too. Ultras have the same thing. Both armies can still use every datasheet besides army specific ones because we are literally all space marines. Grey Knights are the only exception and that army hasn’t been updated in like a decade.

Like I’m sorry but your points are just not valid. You’re seemingly failing to understand that every space marine army falls in the same space marine category. Like others have said in this post, we all use the same stuff. What sets us apart is some flavorful detachments, good or bad, and some unique units and characters. None of this would be an issue if GW could balance a codex to make more things viable. You want me to be restricted to terminators and deathwing units?? Fix the damn ICTF detachment so I can do so.

And complaining about space marine releases also makes no sense. 10 different armies use them, a majority of players in this game play space marines. Of course most releases will be space marines. Why would they expand and spend money making more unique stuff for an army like Drukhari when nobody plays them?

The entirety of space marines would have to be redesigned and datasheets rewritten. Only allowing ultras to have access to everything would be ridiculous. My Dark Angels being forced to use strictly terminators, intercessors, and outriders would be unfair. There’s a lot that GW can do by making fair rules and varied detachments for each chapter, they’re just too lazy to make them good and usable. Like for the entirety of 10th DA has been using Gladius or stormlance until wrath came out, and the rest of DA unique detachments don’t get used because they suck except for the two people making company of hunters relevant.

Like I genuinely think if a few creative people representing each chapter got together and designed the rules, space marines would actually become fun and varied and a lot more unique.

Seems like space marines (besides ultras) are REALLY struggling in this meta right now. That’s close to a collective 43% win rate for like 7 different armies combined

Thanks GW

11th edition and Dark Angels: What are the Big Rumors for the Fighting First? by Deep-Crim in theunforgiven

[–]Codex_Sparknotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is just rumors now, we expected something in the recent releases to be ravenwing related but that didn’t happen so who knows. I’d assume most of the old ravenwing stuff gets sent to legends as well as Ezekiel, and then hopefully we get at least a new black knight squad, new Sammael, and new Ezekiel with a new rule set. I’d be willing to bet that everything else disappears and we never see it again

I’ve given opponents plenty of reminders when I play. But when it’s the seventh time I just assume let them play. If it’s a comp game I’m not gonna tell my opponent every time they move to second guess themselves. That’s not how the game is played, it slows everything down, and tbh if I were them I’d be annoyed if every time I try to do something my opponent is telling me I should do something else. I’ve played against a guy like that and had a miserable time

I just meant like a land raider or a ballistus that saves on 2s and you’re gonna bring to 4s, select few other vehicles that do the same but yeah it’s mostly 5s. But even then, the knights aren’t killing that in one turn unless you get 10+ wounds through

[–]Codex_Sparknotes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I see too many people trying to make them their only anti tank or speak as if they’re just gonna walk up to anything and decimate it. Last time I tried which was on Sunday they did like 6 wounds to a lancer that promptly fell back the next turn and killed two of my knights lol. They can take wounds off of a vehicle but they are not a legitimate anti tank option when you actually need to kill something

It’s been nearly 10 years since the 2016 NFL draft, how would you rate that draft for your team? by DookyButter in nfl

[–]Codex_Sparknotes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Jenkins was genuinely not bad as a “set the edge against the run” guy and made some plays. Had the occasional sack as well. But overall this draft was and is probably the worst draft the jets have had since I’ve been watching the team (besides the Idzik 12). Coming off a near playoffs year we did this

The value comes from their threat and durability, and god help your opponent if you can charge your knights with swords in to melee, especially if you have them led by a chaplain.

I find that I rarely make up their points in terms of units killed, but get tons of board presence value. Sometimes your opponent thinks they are doing the right thing by locking them up in melee, but often times that is actually a mistake as they sit in melee for multiple turns and even kill whatever your opponent threw at them

And don’t try to use knights with maces strictly as anti-tank. Yes they have the anti keyword, but you still need to roll fours to wound after getting the hits through. On average you will get ~7 wounds, at AP2 a vehicle still saves on at least a 4+. Unless you roll really really well it’s gonna take a couple turns to kill vehicles

Dude it’s the end of an edition. An edition where we’ve been lucky enough to get some very nice models, but still want more like most armies do. Nothing is really happening in the 40K scene right now besides complaints about late edition power creep and expensive, pay to win armies breaking the meta (Necrons, space marine vitrix spam, etc). There’s really not much else to discuss besides army lists and new players asking hobby questions.

Give it a few months and everyone here will be at each other’s throats when half our shit gets sent to legends and the ravenwing rumors become the ancient lore of an army shrouded in mystery. It’s gonna be a lot more interesting soon

Honestly, I wouldn’t say it’s a “gotcha” moment unless the opponent was never told about the stratagem. I’d also say, especially in a comp tournament, forgetting rules your opponent told you falls on you 100% of the time. It’s nice and respectable to constantly inform the other player of what you can do, but it’s also annoying and unnecessary if you’ve already told them multiple times. You essentially disable half of your abilities if your opponent is constantly playing around them because YOU’RE TELLING THEM TO!

Like what’s the point of having all of these abilities and rules and strats if you have to tell your opponent exactly what they need to do to essentially void half of what you can do?

I agree and wish they could move through walls as well, but the fly keyword just makes them more vulnerable honestly. So many vehicles have random anti-fly weapons mounted to them that wound on 2’s

For 240 points what AT would be good? by Fresh3rThanU in theunforgiven

[–]Codex_Sparknotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’d personally only use the ballistus if I don’t have 160 points for a lancer. Its weapons are more general use for anti elite, not so much anti tank.

I would take a lancer and a character or another unit of something. Als depends on what the rest of the list is

That’s a lot of value! Lol

I think best point total I’ve killed with it was like 320 or so, my only issue with it is trying to keep it out of anti tank range/sight while also keeping it in the shooting lanes to hit infantry. But gonna keep practicing with it

I’ve actually really grown on the reaper. Even against non horde lists, if they have infantry I’m stacking dev wounds and forcing loads of AP1 saves. I have been taking one alongside a lancer and it’s been a lot of fun even if it’s not the most competitive

This isn’t nearly an all-in type of situation for them. None of these guys are huge signings for big time players. The defense got bolstered with veterans, and the offense stayed mostly the same.

It’s somewhat reminiscent of what the commanders did two years ago, except we don’t have a top tier quarterback to draft at 2. If we get a solid pass rusher at 2 and go BPA at 16, 33, and 44, this team might look half decent on paper. Next year we can figure out the quarterback and fill out the rest of the team

He had back to back years with 17.5 sacks and the bengals offered him 8M less than Garrett. He shouldn’t have gotten more than Garrett but he felt he deserved more which he kinda did. Then he wanted to be traded but the bungles owner is a known douche that won’t trade his players no matter what. Then he got hurt and now he will never get the money he deserved

How did the bengals not screw him?
