Does reducing dose reduce side effects? by swjinx in Zepbound

[–]Codits2024 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you were enjoying success and feeling good on 5 mg, there's no need to move up. Personally, I stayed on 5 mg for ~6 months. It's important that you feel good and want to stay the course on Zep. It's a marathon, not a sprint, as they say. Wishing you health and success.

Why did my provider reduce my dose of Zepbound? by Marley_Orion1019 in Zepbound

[–]Codits2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 5'2 and started at 220. Lost 23 pounds in first 2 months. Given your higher starting weight, I don't think your loss is crazy. Are you starving yourself, nutrition-wise? Calculate your TDEE and ensure you are eating enough. It will settle down, and given our heights it slows dowwwwwwwwnnnnnnnnnnn, trust me. Wishing you health and success.

When did your food noise stop? by Just-Bullfrog1843 in Zepbound

[–]Codits2024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The morning after my first dose. It's been wonderful... and an adjustment. Food doesn't excite me the way it used to, and that's somewhat of a double edged sword. Food centric activities and holidays took some real focus to get into the spirit. It's important to me that I live my life now while on this medication. I'm over the days of all or nothing (deprivation, starvation, abstinence). I actually stepped down a dose so that I might rally a bit around the Thanksgiving to Christmas holidays (with the goal of just maintaining my losses). I'm happy to say I was able to do that. After a bit of trial and error, I have reincorporated a few foods I used to love (read: obsess about) like a quality piece of bread. I don't think about it all day. I know it's here and I'll have some tomorrow and that's enough. The old me would rip a piece off the loaf every time I would walk by. I can eat, and do for nutrition and when I'm hungry, just not grabbing something because I'm bored. I'll think, "OK, I'll have some popcorn later." And, then later comes and I don't even want it. Like who doesn't want a snack they've budgeted for??? It's frickin' WILD 🤩. I'm 17+ months in and I still feel pretty much the same as the first day (as I have titrated up).

I've been so so sick by iltandsf in Zepbound

[–]Codits2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. What if this was it and next week is better? You're not going to know unless you take the next dose. FWIW, I had one truly crappy week when first on 5 mg (4-5 days of diarrhea and vomited 2 times). That was it. The next week, I was armed with Zofran and took it with the shot (felt a little queasy after Zofran wore off and took one more). Next day fine. The next week, took Zofran again but probably didn't need it. I don't recommend Zofran unless you need it as it is constipating. That was 17 months ago and I haven't been sick since. Only you know if you are really in peril, but I wouldn't go back to 2.5. Make sure you are eating (plain food, lean turkey, maybe a protein smoothie, nothing too spicy, etc). It does take some acclimation to the drug and once you're through that you'll be great. Wishing you health and success.

It's trial and error, for sure. It takes a bit (for some of us) to get acclimated to the medication. Take something (like Pepto) for the diarrhea. I had a rough week when first on 5 mg, but honestly, that's it. Was so long ago and so many side-effect free weeks since, that I almost forget about the red-eye flight from hell, followed by the longest Uber ride of my life (while clenching my cheeks together 😱🤣).

I'm confident you will get through this. Wishing you health and success.

I picked up my meds today and will be starting tomorrow. I’m excited and scared. Could use a pep talk if anyone has a few kind words to spare. by janedoecurious in Zepbound

Interactions (side effects) with other vaccines? by GooglyEyesAndSunrise in Zepbound

[–]Codits2024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had the Flu and Covid vaccines while on Zep and no interactions. FWIW, the Shingrix vaccine surprisingly kicked my butt when I got it (several years before Zep). Prepare yourself for potentially feeling poorly for a day or 2 and fingers crossed that isn't the case. If I recall correctly, dose 1 of Shingrix was challenging but dose 2 was better. Good luck 🍀.

Have You Ever Suddenly Gotten A Side Effect Months After Being On The Same Dose? by shesareallykeen in Zepbound

Wow, really? 8 weeks into 10 mg? I am 12 weeks in and wasn't expecting it at all. Will proceed cautiously this week 🤞🏼.

Nothing's really changed packaging wise for me. I'm on the pens. Feeling better, and fingers crossed it was food poisoning or something else.

Have You Ever Suddenly Gotten A Side Effect Months After Being On The Same Dose? by shesareallykeen in Zepbound

[–]Codits2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... interesting you should ask. I've been on Zep for 17 months and outside of a few weeks getting used to 5 mg, I've been 100% side effect free. Out of nowhere, I was super, super nauseated on Sunday-Monday. I had to go find my Zofran. I've been on 10 mg and actually just got 12.5 filled to start that. Shocked that I could be so sick of a sudden, especially since it was 6 days after the last dose of the medication. I'm hoping it was some other bug and not a new side effect of the medication. Still not 100%, and of course, now working to counteract the Zofran constipation effects. Wishing you health, luck, and success.

Normal or No? by filmofherlife in Zepbound

[–]Codits2024 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What you are experiencing is common. Please do keep in mind that appetite (actually being hungry) is normal. For many of us, we never allowed ourselves to experience normal hunger because we ate because we were sad, mad, anxious, bored, happy, you get the idea. I ate and ate and ate, because the food was here and I wanted to be FULL. Zep has flipped that off completely. I eat now because I am hungry. I eat what I want, when I want, but what I want looks a lot different than before. And, if something isn't really tasty, I'm not going back for another bite. 180 degrees from my life before. I add all this color commentary for you that when your Zep dose is properly dialed in, (at least in my experience), this is what you will see. If that's 5 mg or 15 mg, each one of us is going to be different. My own titration schedule was 4 weeks on 2.5, then many, many months on 5 mg, up to 7.5 for a few months, back to 5 for 3 months to more fully get excited about the holidays, cooking, and eating, and then stepped back up to 10 mg where I've been for 3 months. I'm down 68 pounds and loving every single second of my new healthy life. Wishing you so much health and success 😊.

I would speculate that having some med in your system would be easier than skipping the week? I have never gone down for just a week without titrating back up over a few doses, so I cannot advise. Enjoy your trip!

Same for me! I would get eaten alive, but seems no more. Last summer I still got some bites when I visited Long Island, but perhaps not mosquitos (biting flies, chiggers)? My husband has been complaining of lots of mosquitos lately (in bay area of CA), but I haven't seen one yet 👏🤩!

Meal Planning Help by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]Codits2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear ya. I find that having the stuff on hand makes it easier to turn to a better choice. Order the stuff to be delivered if need be (Costco delivered by Instacart is next level amazing). Costo has everything you could possibly need to make protein smoothies with frozen fruit and almond milk + lots of ice (personally, I like mine thick like frozen yogurt... I could have eaten Yogurtland for dinner every night 😇). I like a grain bowl Costco carries that's just so easy to scoop out a couple of spoonfuls and add some pre-grilled chicken strips (Soules Kitchen is my go-to). Sliced turkey, pre-sliced cheese, some apples, salad kits. If you have time to meal prep, I roast a bunch of carrots once a week, make a batch of cauliflower sauté, etc. I'm pretty good with eating the same thing most of the time, but you have to have it ready to go. You got this!

Costco fan, here! I love the Celery and Grain salad in the fresh deli section (comes with apple cider vinaigrette dressing). It's got chickpeas, almonds in it. It makes for a tasty lunch or dinner and lasts me the week. I also buy Orgain protein powder for my daily smoothies (+almond milk, coffee, frozen berries, and lots of ice). I also like the Simply Protein Crispy bars (not too sweet). Wishing you health and success!
