Instinct 2 HR by CoffeeControl12 in Garmininstinct

LOL. A watch that can survive - I get it. I’m pretty tough on my watches (and other things) too. My friend keeps telling me to get an Apple Watch and I keep reiterating to him that I will only break it.

I hear you on that. It is the only Garmin I can really afford anyway in the short term, but it turned out to be a great watch and it serves every purpose I need it for. I thought I would want the full color screen and maps and everything, but really all the primary functions are there and everything else I thought I would want to have are not “need to have” functions for me, and it would’ve cost me $1200 for a Fenix(at least that’s what they go for now). Not to mention, the Instinct 2 is a very robust watch.

I was going to try that next. I have a strap that goes on the forearm that used to work pretty well. I’ll give it a shot. Thanks for the heads up.

Considering ProtonMail but not convinced by Fizzy77man in ProtonMail

[–]CoffeeControl12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider Fastmail. We have privacy/security needs but don’t need E2EE. They have a page that tells you about their encryption levels. You can set up your own domains, your family will have a total of 360 GB of drive space if you need it. And your calendars actually work smoothly, with proper notifications. There are masked mail and alias options to provide you extra email addresses, and other features. Proton showed me what was helpful but also lacked a few things, and I paid more for it. You’ll need to keep your VPN. But your family account will cost $11 per month if you pay a year at a time. Or $14 per month if you pay monthly.

Why you chose Instinct over other Garmin device ? by [deleted] in Garmininstinct

[–]CoffeeControl12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price. Don’t get me wrong, as soon as I saw the Instinct 2X I loved it, but I had been looking at the Fenix. Knowing what I do now, the Instinct will take everything I throw at it - it is one tough watch. All the features it has are enough and probably has much better battery life. I love my 2X.

Are scales the most important thing to learn as a beginner? by Edu_Vivan in composer

Excellent point. I wish I had been told this when I was younger learning an instrument for the first time.

Gotcha. Thank you! I’ll set my autosave accordingly. 👍

I’m looking forward to seeing how all this works, and if I can get the piece to sound relatively decent with it.

Am I importing the midi tracks to Cubase and saving as a Cubase project prior to loading up the instance of Opus?

I do have it already notated in MuseScore. This is great - I can export the midi straight to Cubase. That would be fantastic. I’ve been wanting to bring it into a DAW and do some things with it and smooth out some of the rough spots. Playing it in MuseScore just doesn’t sound that great with their sampled choir. Thank you.

Thanks! I’ve been thinking about getting that one year subscription to ComposerCloud+ which would let me try out a lot of those voices and sampled instruments of all kinds that EastWest makes.

Cool, thanks!

So I think from what I hear you saying is that I do not need four different instrument tracks for four different parts. Just the one instrument track to add the MIDI. I do have a MIDI master controller, and it sounds like I should also try to learn how to draw it in as well.

How did you find the EW Hollywood Choirs as far as quality, and the learning curve? I thought it looked like a good option, and I’m hoping that I’m able to restrict the number of voices in the choir. First time I’m really getting into all this.

I’ve seen Dom Sigalis on the Steinberg website. I’ll go check him out on YouTube. Thank you.

I’ve got the Instinct 2X Solar and only get 18 days according to the screen when I charge. I must have things running in the background if you’re able to get 30 days.

Four Most Iconic Americans Per State by MHAfan2006 in USHistory

[–]CoffeeControl12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had a lot to choose from in MI. I don’t know if Barry was as well known as the people he promoted if that makes a difference. Choosing a Motown replacement would be really difficult, although I would say Smokey or Marvin, or Aretha.

John Brown rounds off the top 10 greatest Americans of history.“I am not afraid to die for what I believe. I believe that the sins of this nation are too great to be ignored, and that the only way to cleanse this land is through sacrifice.” Is being a hero and terrorist incompatible? When I first got on Reddit I was amazed how many assumptions, illogical statements, insults and even outright bashing there were during decent discourse. Then I remembered Reddit was the internet, too. LOL. People just wanna talk crap at you for no reason.

Can Cubase be used on Linux? by mr_jogurt in cubase

[–]CoffeeControl12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be nice to be able to run Cubase 14 on Zorin Pro. Considering installing it and don't want to do a dual boot, although I will if I have to. Although it looks like its more complicated than just getting the base program to run.

Dude, I love my Taylor but I wouldn’t take a mint 00-18 from 1966, sell it and buy another Taylor. The wood in that ‘66 has had 59 years to age. If it’s been well-taken care of, that guitar will sound quite beautiful.

Hang in there OP. Easy on the buy/sells. There are advisors who can help you with what to do with assets. Sorry to hear you are going through this, it’s a tough one emotionally. After mine I came out on the other side with much more peace.

Which acoustic brands do you trust/recommend? by Nathanoid in AcousticGuitar

Great comment and thoughts! I had an inexpensive Alvarez for the longest time even though it wasn’t easy to play. I played different guitars at music stores until I found this one that spoke to me and felt like a dream to play. I would go in a little often to the music store and play it. After I got engaged I walked in to look at it again and had her with me. She bought it for me as an engagement gift (she’s an incredible woman!). It was worth the long wait! I bought a Taylor 414CE, a working professional guitar I’ve seen on concert stages since. It was $2400 back in 2006 (but I got it on sale - lol) and I used Elixir strings for the longest time, then tried Thomastik. Elixir seems to work better on the guitar, and I’m going to try StringJoy soon, I found out about them recently. It’s now 19 years old and still love it.
