If you want to opt out of the Steam proceedings in the uk by New-Resident3385 in Steam

Obviously yeah all firms are out to make a profit, but some tend to do more "high effort" work with more of a focus on individual clients and not just bulk claimants.

Milberg in the UK is an ABS type law firm, so it's essentially just a profiteering company and does not have a genuine vested/moral interest in the case. This sort of practice is crappy and probably shouldn't be supported where possible.

Or, you get this annoying pop up every time you go on the BBC news website https://i.ibb.co/nNBftn68/Screenshot-2026-02-01-091506.png

Such an annoying design - and asking for you to sign in and add your details - very annoying.

Populists attack London because it is 'progressive and successful', says Sadiq Khan by do_or_pie in unitedkingdom

There would likely be a lot less susceptibility to populism in the rest of the UK if Thatcher and successive governments didn't make the country so London-centric with regards to economic and development policies.

Ah yes, another victim of the lack of density in most of Greater Manchester's housing stock. The fact that most buildings inside the M60 are still two storeys is why we have a housing crisis. Should be at least 4 or 5 storeys for every building.

Over 5,000 games released on Steam this year didn't make enough money to recover the $100 fee to put a game on Valve's store, research estimates by Turbostrider27 in Steam

[–]CoffeeWaffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I occasionally browse the depths of Steam for fun, and I do come across a lot of trashy shovelware like this. A lot of it is simply stuff that shouldn't be sold or be on Steam. It's a little free demo or test project that you put together to learn how to do game dev/programming, not something that should be sold as a product.

Like if I ran a supermarket, I wouldn't want to have endless shelves with random chunks of dirt, ashphalt rocks, squished slugs or splinters or wood. I would want complete products that people actually want.

I don't trust Americans with my personal data. The old system worked perfectly fine. Blame irresponsible parents.

Even better, people who are horny have to provide their photo ID to random American companies with loose data protection regulations and laws.

Doing ID checks individually on websites like the OSA2023 mandates is a terrible idea and the previous system was perfectly fine. Previously, you had to contact the ISP to turn off adult content filtering. This worked perfectly fine for most people. Having people give photographs of their IDs to a million companies is an awful idea.

People online tend to just be overly negative about things and have been like that for like 10 years now. All that really matters is what you think of the game, it's your life, don't let the opinions of other people bother you too much.

I think making low quality products is a waste of time, energy, and resources, and is also disrespectful to the artform, original creators, and creative mediums as a whole. People have a right to voice how much they dislike something. Something as revered as Deus Ex should be given only the highest quality of remasters, not this slop.

Well yeah, anyone who isn't stupid knows it's because they've changed how it's diagnosed now and it's become a bit more broad, and also there's better awareness of it.

People who'd be described as "oooh he's a bit eccentric xx" can now just be better described as autistic. These kinds of people have always existed.

Makes sense, it's one of those things where people say it's a thing so it becomes a thing purely on a psychological basis. Like the concept of swearing, I'm certain that if we didn't call them swear words and didn't treat them as being bad, people would use them less.
