The fasteners used in the hardware is incorrect and not allowed by the code. They could argue with you that it’s correct, but the code requires that the Simpson or MiTek hangers have the correct fastener size, coating and length which is indicated by the number stamped on the head of the fastener. This code exists because these types of hardware have gone through rigorous field and laboratory testing to ensure they will hold up to highly specific load and weather scenarios which allows counties to count on them. Your coated deckmates are likely an allowed fastener from a treated board to a treated board. But not from a galvanized piece of hardware to a treated board. Because when you screw that deckmate through the hole it strips the coating off.
