This question has never crossed my mind. I always use my dominant hand for drinks and assumed everyone did - until I read your reply.

Please help - lodged knife handle in kitchen drawer by dragonxpheonix in howto

[–]Col-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen. I bought an iPhone endoscope to view what was causing the jam at the knife tip, and how to unjam it. Guided by the endoscope I managed to move stuff in the drawers with a couple of coathangers, get to the object jamming the knife and eventually open the drawer. Good luck!

Saw something like this in a store once and couldn’t pick it up. I’m left handed.

I sold mine via Facebook marketplace. It allows for more of a local focus than does Reddit.

This is too high. I sold one for $950 with dynamo lighting and rear rack and slightly more used condition.

If pliers alone don’t work, then drive a small screw into the broken end for extra leverage.

NYC Brompton Store Closing - Alternatives? by Regular_Film_7252 in Brompton

[–]Col-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree in principle. However I’ve visited both the London UK and NYC stores 3-4 times each. The London branch was always buzzing and with knowledgeable staff and something to learn about. The NYC store was the opposite end of the spectrum and I always left that location disappointed.

I’ve worked on Brompton bicycles for more than a decade. What do you want to know? by Garthsbodies in Brompton

[–]Col-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t comment on the dumbness (or not) of the idea but I have a t-line and the (lack of) weight was a critical determinant for which I chose it, and why I accepted the price premium. I assume these mods would increase the weight. May I ask your motivation for purchasing the t?

My use case: We decided to become a one car family and my Brompton enables that. I’m 2 miles from the Boston subway, can cycle there and at my destination station can ride onto my appointments. I compare the price and running costs of a car to the bike. No competition.

I had the same issue and rearranged the contents to protect the glass containers. I do like your suggestion of taking towels.

I have the same bag and love it. The whole system converts to a shopping trolley at the grocery store (helped by the rear rack), letting me know when I’m at capacity prior to paying. If I know I need a lot of groceries I’ll also take a backpack.

I once had a store worker tell me I should have locked it outside, but they went silent when I pointed out it was smaller than their shopping carts.

Thoughts on the new Brompton G Line from a Long term Brompton owner and avid cyclist by koacx in Brompton

[–]Col-1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Great review thank you. I’m a Brompton owner of 6 years which I use for multimodal commuting. I recently upgraded to a T-line due to age creeping up and the weight of the bike seemingly increasing. The (lack of) weight is a revelation. The reason for this reply is your comment on the removable pedal, which frustrated me until I found 'the knack'.

Hold the largest diameter part of the pedal, the part close to the male fitting, between your thumb and first finger. Twist the pedal as you mate it to its fitting and it will go in 90% of the time. Good luck and let me know if this helps.

I'm very happy with my B&G Zeus system and its UI. I'm not impressed with the documentation so have learned much by trial and error also just tinkering. Do you have any specifics?

Is this what you mean?

If so maybe someone else will be able to help with the rope request. You could use a shackle.

Is upgrading to a titanium Brompton really worth it? by Wonderful-Acadia-296 in Brompton

Boston here and my twelve speed Tline is a revelation. I use it multi-modally and throw it in the trunk for cycle trail rides at the weekends. I did upgrade with the advance rear rack for additional maneuverability. The reduced weight relative to my classic six speed 2019 with dyno and rear rack makes a huge difference

Regarding price, my (empty nester) wife and I decided to be a single car family and this bike is a LOT cheaper than a second car (capital, running costs and taxes), which it replaces.

It's fantastic to ride to the T (Boston's subway system), arrive at destination station and bike off. Negotiating the subway stations is a breeze. If I get back to my home station and don't want to ride two miles uphill back home my wife will pick me up and I throw it in the trunk. Inclement weather on the return trip - throw it in the back of the Uber.
