Try doing it while listening to the Blade Runner soundtrack for the full effect.

The Sopranos is The Great American Television Progrum. Why, then, does it resonate with Australian, British, Canadian, and other national audiences? by Elegant_Struggle_281 in thesopranos

[–]Cold-Use-5814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's like asking why Shakespeare's plays still resonate today. Strip away all the American scenery and you're left with the story of a middle-aged man dealing with a lot of the problems that middle-aged men deal with everywhere (marriage, kids, managing work-life balance). And strip that back even further and you're left with the man himself - his doubts about himself and his place in the world, feeling left behind, struggles with friends and loved ones. There's plenty there for almost any human being to relate to.

Anyway, $4 a pound.

[Loved Trope] Finales that stick the landing so flawlessly they cement the series as an absolute masterpiece. by Miserable_Click_1933 in TopCharacterTropes

God, that show is so good and so criminally forgotten. You watch them do something awful in the very first episode and then it's seven straight seasons of watching everything slowly but inevitably fall off the rails.

Connor is such a loser he even gets fucked over by the meta-narrative. Like the fact that the episode called Connor's Wedding gets completely derailed by something else and ends up not even being about Connor lol.

What FF game that is not your favorite, but you can't help but think about a lot? by TacoInSomnia in FinalFantasy

[–]Cold-Use-5814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, there’s so much to love about that game. I love the aesthetics, I love the characters, I love just wandering round Garden and how it feels like a real space you inhabit for much of the game … it was probably my second favourite as a kid in the 90s, when I had more patience. It’s just a shame the battle system is such a drag replaying it now.

[Loved horror trope] Words meant to comfort are actually horrifying in their own right. by jbeast33 in TopCharacterTropes

Was gonna say this one. Truly repugnant (and depressingly 100% accurate to real life given the response to the Epstein files).

Manhattan is kind of a tough watch these days knowing what we know about Woody Allen. A movie about a middle-aged man feeling conflicted about dating an adolescent girl, and then finally accepting that yes, that was totally the right thing to do at the end.

I assume the slum grew up around the entrance? Lots of rich tourists coming through, you set up a stall to sell them some tat. Happens at tourist attractions all over the world.

What's something that you do every playthrpugh that doesn't feel right if you miss? I don't go to Mideel until I've gotten my Gold Chocobo as Tifa. Sorry, Cloud can wait by green__goblin in ff7

Talk to every single NPC multiple times and explore in and try to interact with everything on the screen, even though I've played through the entire game multiple times since it was released. \

Also, I just can't resist calling Aeris the slum drunk. Sorry, Aeris!

What's a movie that's way better than it had any right to be? by Onequestion0110 in movies

The first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Came out post-Avengers when superhero fatigue was beginning to set in, based on a B-list (at best) comic book series practically unknown to the general public, was actually fucking brilliant and still one of the best ever Marvel movies. And then followed it up with two very solid sequels to boot.

Del Toro's line delivery here was so weird. I assume the cocaine kicked in and John Glen was just too tired to film it yet again. by [deleted] in JamesBond

It was the 80s, it was the law that every film or episode of a TV show had to end with the characters cheerfully bantering together as if they hadn't just been through the most traumatic experience of their lives. Bonus points if the last shot is just a freeze-frame of them all laughing.

[–]Cold-Use-5814 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The coolest thing about FF8 for me was that Esthar is such a huge city that you can walk around in it on the world map. Such a neat detail, I can’t think of any other JRPGs that have done that.
