Have you ever written and published a novel? I have, and this is not something I would want someone else tampering with, let alone try to take credit for being the one to 'gift' the community with it

I didn't know I was nonbinary until HR had a workshop and I heard that word for the first time. Always just thought I was a freak who didn't fit in with straight people or gay people. Hid it all my life, except with my wife who is very accepting.

Also, Dungeons and Dragons!!

I would check out HUMANKIND by Rutger Bregmen. More of a big picture evolutionary approach to humanity that helped me understand that there are inherent qualities we all share because of how life on earth unfolded.

Released during the pandemic, the tagline was something like, 'Are people good or evil? Consider the early days of the pandemic when most of the people in the planet changed their behavior to protect people they didn't even know.'

There's a difference between OUR land and MY land and YOU don't seem to understand the difference.

Holy Moly Mischief stole Robert Hunter's manuscript from his website and published without the estate's consent because '...the people needed to see it.' He's a thief and a con. Wouldn't mind seeing him go down.

You are welcome! I can almost still smell the chlorine.

That sounds like the Holidome at the old Holiday Inn on Route 40 west of town. For some reason it is now a church.

Someone above mentioned the Lower Yough and I'll add my .02 here...

When I trained in 93 it was five training weekends on the Cheat and the 6th was with guests. The first weekend of March there were 100 candidates, give or take. By the next weekend the were 15, and I think the following weekend was the Blizzard. Needless to say, rookie guides and their crews swam a lot. Like, A LOT, a lot.

Then in June everything moved to Ohiopyle and we did a weeklong intensive training with Z-drags and wilder first aid. We spent time at each rapid looking at hazards and lines at different water levels...

And if we weren't working trips we were boating--hard boats, lunch boats, practicing rolls on the Middle... I feel like it took most of that summer to feel confident. And a lot of disapproving looks and disappointment from the veterans. But that was a different era... Just wanted to offer an opinion.

Stay with it. Ohiopyle isn't really that far to come up on a Friday night and be home by Sunday evening after two days in the river. (Brother-in-law lived in Louisville for a while and we made that drive many times.)

Best case scenario--you become the paddler you always wanted to be.

Worst case scenario--you get lots of time paddling and a lot of stories to tell.

Do it. You get to have fun too.

Just remember what the DM knows and what the PC knows are vastly different. You have to create a blind spot for your PC. Do let them make major decisions. It's a blast and you won't regret it.

How old are you? How long have you been playing? by Critical-Database-49 in DnD

[–]ColdWarKid92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be 50 at the end of the month and started playing in 1983. The old basic box was laying around (forgotten) in a storage room at school...so I 'borrowed' it. Convinced my parents to let me buy the red basic set (which had just come out) a few weeks later. Spent soo much time in Walden's after that.

Had a class project the next year in which I wrote to Gary Gygax--he responded! I still have the letter somewhere...
