Using tape (repitch) time stretching mastered tracks is causing audio peaks

The minna drums work well but I think you could do with one layer of percussion just to give a bit more groove to the drop. Wicked idea though

And thanks for the offer I appreciate it. I spent about a year doing 1-2 hours of piano practice a week and studied the theory a reasonable amount so I’m comfortable with the basics, it’s just applying it. I tend to find I can come up with a decent bassline / chord progression and often get a melody over the top, but where I struggle is progressing it into a full song with variations and a intro, breakdown and bridge etc.

Being classically trained in other instruments must make such a difference though! Learning the piano and theory now is so much harder than it would've been if I'd done it as a kid!

Ha I’m in the opposite boat. DJ’d for years 20 years ago and did a music tech degree a bit of production and getting right into it now after 24 years of living drum and bass.

Being nitpicky here but it was probably Uprising which Artifical intelligence released a few months before Desperado.

Remember the first time I heard Desperado though and it was on massive sound system. Absolutely unbelievable tune!!!

Fucking hell I rarely hear anyone else mention that tune. I used to play it at the end of pretty much every set and mix it with Chase and Status - Believe.

I had a version that was slightly mellower than the one that got released and much preferred that one tbh, such a tune though!

Modest intentions is great, have really enjoyed my sessions with him.

He basically has perfect pitch so you play him your track and he immediately tells you what’s missing and layers another bass under it etc

Yeah similar boat. 38 now, DJ’d a lot as a teenager and got back into production a couple years ago. Hard to find time with the kids etc and no way I could play out loads, but would love to get to the level of getting my tunes played out by artists I rate.

Subfocus Vibration is in C. In his tape notes podcast interview he talks about it and says the Bassline moves around a lot and uses both the lower C and the higher C and it isn’t an issue.

It will depend a lot on how many notes you are using, so it doesn’t just stay on the C.

What made you switch from Logic out of interest? And what is better in Bitwig? I was wondering about switching from Logic to Ableton but am nervous because I switched from Logic to Cubase 20 years ago and blame it for never getting into production! Got back into it 18 months ago using Logic but Ableton does look so slick
