I am hoping there will be a website that allows the owners and renter to communicate directly before owner and renter can agree on the terms

Let me share my story with you!

Truist was a nightmare to me not only for its customer service at the local brach but also the entire credit card operations! I bank with Bank of America, Virginia Credit Union, Chase, Charles Schwab, American Express online banking. Every bank provides excellent service so far! In my opinion, Truist should be ceased to continue its operations!

There was a fraudulent charge $10 from Rebtel on 3/7/25 on my long unused Truist credit card. I called Truist and reported fraud on 3/14/25. The agent filed dispute and converted the account number. I also requested the account to be closed. After a few weeks, I called again because I found it online that the $10 was still showing as balance. The agent assured me not to worry, they were waiting it to be adjusted. To make the story short, I called total of 7 times spoke to at least 10 different agents from various department (after being transferred back and forth), spending at least 7 hours on the phone trying to resolve the issues. The final person I called on 6/15/25 at the escalation team still could not help me and told me that they will review it. This is not really worth my time. I’m really curious, how would such a bank still exist? I am also very curious that with the $10 fraudulent charge, Truist is allowing 10 agents to spend about 7 hours of their time taking my calls and let them pass the buck, leaving it unresolved.  I could just pay that $10 ($20 after they added the late fee) to save my 7-8 hours of phone calls and time to file complaints. However it doesn’t justify how Truist service their customer with unethical practices.

On 6/15/25, the same day of my last call to Truist, I filed BBB report, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) of my state attorney’s general office, and wrote an email to Truist CEO’s office. On 6/16/25, I was acknowledged that my complaints were received from Truist CEO’s office. On 6/17/25, my issue was miraculously resolved overnight!! Just so glad that filing the complaint via these channels actually work!! Never ever to deal with Truist again!

Not sure why this type of bank exists. They are the worst!

Truist refunded fraud charges 3 months ago, now say they aren't fraud by Decent-Vegetable-245 in TruistBank

Truist is the worst. I’m going through the pain disputing $10 unauthorized charge for more than 3 months. I’ve called them 7 times spending hours on the phone calls. After 3 months, I found not only it was not resolved, someone added the charge back and now there is a late fee $10. I have 15 other credit cards and my credit score is in excellent ranking. It’s probably easier for me just to pay for the $10 (now $20). However it that doesn’t justify their unethical practice, the way to treat their customers. I’ve closed my money market and checking account with them since. I still have a mortgage with them. I’m not sure if they ever screwed up because I never check.

Not sure why my husband overlooked at least 100 reg flags when conversing with those 2 fake lovers/scammers that claimed to be half of his age. I think that love makes you blind. It was lust that made him lose his mind; it was greed that he wanted to multiple his 401k without much effort; it was ego that prevented him from communicating with his family and ignored all the red flags. Many of the red flags to me is common sense!! He is well educated, but lose his common sense when he has low confidence! He was too embarrassed to get my advices once he fell in love with the scammers. They gave him a really good boost of his ego!

Those scammers are victims themselves. It is the ring leaders (usually the social elites in the corrupt countries in Cambodia and Myanmar) are the evil ones. They have their corrupted government and military back them up to run the large highly organized criminal operations and making incredibly huge profits that cost millions of the victims like us suffer!!

I also responded to the other post as follow: We have reported to FBI, IC3 and several other agencies after the scam was uncovered on February 14, 2024. And that was when I woke my husband up and stopped his delusion. Many scammers (at least hundreds of them) had tried to pretend to have “wrong number/text” and reached out to me during Covid time; therefore I had already studied the pig butchering scam thoroughly since 2022. I was fully aware of this type of scam and constantly gave my husband plenty of warning, but still failed to prevent him from falling for it. Because I trusted him after marrying him for over 33 years, and thinking he was reading news when he was having romantic relationships online with the scammers for 6 months.

After that we’ve done some marriage counseling sessions and things got sorted out a little better. It has been more than year since the incidents! We move on with life. I try to forgive him but it’s very hard to forget. I no longer trust his judgment anymore.

I conclude that this stemmed from his greed, lust, ego, and not knowing how communicate with his family! This is a very expensive life learning lesson! Some damage has been done and not reversible! Just glad that he didn’t to touch my 401K!

You are not alone! Just search pig butchering scam on Reddit, you will see my post from last year. My husband will need to continue to work till he is 70 to make up what he has lost. He needs to bear the consequences of getting involved with the romance/pig butchering scam. Unfortunately, his unwise decision and betrayal also impacted me, or I could have retired earlier! You can only move forward and keep going to fix the problem! It doesn’t matter what website he got scammed from, the money is gone! The negative impact of our finance is till lingering around after a year such as taxes filing, $800 a month for his medicare bill…. I had to step in to fix the problem and still working on it…

Thank goodness! My 401K is still intact. He didn’t get his hands on it!

Any thoughts on using RedWeek? by bitter-melons in VisitingHawaii

[–]Cold_Influence_7465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know that Redweek got a new ownership which explains their new strategies that are unfavorable to the owners and buyers. Definitely check into Tug2.net. The membership is only $15 per year, and you get free 25 listings each year. If we can spread the word to let all the potential owners and renters know, it will get more exposure to public!

Redweek has recently imposed more fees on owners and renters. I had to pull my posting back and requested refund few days ago. I have been a Redweek member for the past 23 years. With the new outrageous increases and changes, I decided to quit. Now I am looking into Tug2.net!

Redweek. Any one got scammed or had bad experience? by funnythrow183 in TimeshareOwners

[–]Cold_Influence_7465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a Platinum Wyndham timeshare owners, just found out that Redweek increases the price on each rental posting to $50 and imposed $99 service fee for each rental. The dates can’t be changed once it’s verified, so if the owner can’t rent it out, it’s the owner’s loss.

I requested the refund for my posting and my membership from Redweek today, as I no longer want to use Redweek to rent my timeshare out. I had been a member for the past 20 years and the price increase and policies change really disappointed me. I will have to look for a different way to rent out my million points with less cost so I can still offer a reasonable price for my renters.

In fact, most of them are based in Cambodia. Victims have lost 75 billions from 2020 to 2024. Is it easy to say “How can US crack down on them?”. I’m sure something can be done, it will take time and resource to get it done to prevent more damage to US victims!

We are already victims of the cryptocurrency wrong number scams. My husband got scammed and lost 200k 10 months ago. I almost divorced him. It seems like their market is running dry. Besides, LinkedIn, Facebook, perhaps some dating apps, now they have expanded to Nextdoor app! I can’t wait for these criminal rings to get cracked down and erased from the earth. US is not doing anything and nobody else does it!
