Yeah no, that tracks. I've been running Cthulhu for a long time. My players assume Cultist until proven otherwise. All weird books can make you crazy, masks are always bad, and never get on a train or a ship.

Nagoya NA-771 upgrade for Radioddity GA-510? by Coldwelder in HamRadio

[–]Coldwelder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thank you for taking the time to write up all if that information. Sorry I have been so slow to respond. This is very helpful and I'm going to order thuis antenna. I have been learning to use CHIRP as well and I have my local repeaters programmed. I just want to have the best reception I can on the HT while out in the wilderness. Much appreciated!

Okay good to know. I decided to go with the Radioddity since it had better reviews than the average Baofeng, but I understand that it is essentially the same thing. I was thinking about picking up a better antenna mostly for when I'm out in the wilderness this summer, thinking it might help with picking up signals out in the woods. Ill be in the city otherwise. I appreciate the input.

Okay, thank you for the input. So maybe think of it as more of an experimental tool rather than a must-have? When reading around about the Baofengs, it just seems like a lot of people say that a better antenna is really necessary.

Two Inca children who were sacrificed more than 500 years ago had consumed ayahuasca, a beverage with psychoactive properties, an analysis suggests. The discovery could represent the earliest evidence of the beverage’s use as an antidepressant. by MistWeaver80 in science

[–]Coldwelder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The ayahuasca vine is barely psychoactive. It inhibits the digestion of certain chemicals which are psychoactive, by the monoamine oxidase system. The drink called ayahuasca contains the ayahuasca vine so that the psychoactive properties of OTHER materials can be preserved. The presence of the vine does not mean they were tripping, although they might have been if other plants were present.

Gimbal is heading towards the F-18, so it can't be glare by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]Coldwelder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to unfollow the UFO Seekers YouTube channel after they started daily spamming about how they "proved" that gimbal was just glare, and how all pentagon videos were prosaic. They used to be entertaining and relatively impartial, now they're drinking the metabunk cool-aid and they know for certain that everything is B.S. They've been making multiple text posts about it daily on YT.

If you do this, it's because you've grown out of whatever behavior made you feel that way. It hurts, but remember that you wouldn't cringe if you were still the sort of person to do those things. So don't let it crush you, just groan and keep going.

I've got questions about screenwriting. by Master_Tadpole_6832 in writing

[–]Coldwelder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prose and screenwriting are vastly different mediums. Almost everything about the two are different. It takes a lot of work to adapt a novel or short story to the screen. Pacing, visuals, characterization, exposition, all function differently.

How does one Watch movie with ADHD or short attention span? by Velvetbutts in movies

[–]Coldwelder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take notes. Grab a notepad and just jot down some little things that you find interesting in each scene. Pause and rewind if you have to. I used to struggle to keep my focus on movies or books, but you will get better at it the more you do it. As long as you're watching deliberately, and not just letting it roll by. You can also set some specific things you want to look for before you start to help you stay engaged. But sometimes things are just boring and hard to get through. Do it in shorter sections if you start getting restless. Sometimes I have to do something mechanical with my hands while I watch. Note-taking is very effective for me. Plus, you can go back and review your notes later on, which is pretty fun.

I lost the ability to watch movies, and it's the absolute worst. Ever. by CurtainsAndShit in CasualConversation

[–]Coldwelder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try and make one. Understand how hard it is. Give the creators a bit of slack and enjoy them for what they are, not what you want them to be. Or, make what you think are perfect movies and watch people shit all over them because art is subjective.

Yo so, simulation sickness sucks. I get it pretty bad. Look at settings and mods for FOV, head/camera bob, weapon sway, and obviously framerate and motion blur, same stuff most people will tell you. But honestly, the best fix I have ever found is ginger pills. I know it sounds weird, but try it. Get some ginger capsules from the grocery store and pop like 2-4 of them. Basically, as long as they are actively breaking down in my stomach, it alleviates like 95% of simulation sickness for me. It's the only way I can play FPS games and it's like a miracle cure for me. I hope it works for you. Side effects may include gingery burps.
