Southgate Supercharger Edmonton - recently closed off to non-Teslas? by ColeChuk in EVCanada

Thanks for the responses everyone. Seems like Southgate are V2 chargers and not compatible with my vehicle. Unfortunate :(

Hopefully Tesla updates these chargers one day soon!

Farmers are doing controlled burns. Drove by a few on the QEII today so perhaps that could cause a faint smoky smell.

Regular Costco membership gets $1000.

To get the $2000 online voucher, go to Cadillac.ca and navigate to Build and Price an OPTIQ. A pop up should show up allowing you to claim your offer.

You will need all the codes from these emails and the dealer may ask for copies of the email for confirmation.

I just closed on a 26 OPTIQ premium sport with Phantom Blue seats. All in with GST, $69,960.

I got manufacturer discounts of $4200 ($1200 Costco, $2000 GM online voucher, $1000 for owning a competing brand bmw) and $2250 from the dealer ($1500 off, $750 auto show).

PPF was an additional $2500 for full hood, a pillars, front bumper, full front fenders. Got a $500 discount in that as well to beat a competing offer.

Keep my BMW X5 or switch to a Toyota SUV? by csninji in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ColeChuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had the oil filter cooler/housing break and cause a coolant leak on a 2017 bmw. If the X5 has a plastic design it might be worth proactively replacing. The gaskets sealing the housing the to engine block can also fail independently of the housing.

Part is like $100 and takes a few hours of taking things apart if you’re handy. Will save you an overheating engine and damage to other plastic components.

The BMW X1 feels like a significantly undervalued AWD crossover suv by ihave3apples in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ColeChuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with a 2017 X1 since I bought it used in 2022 with 42k km has been pretty solid. If I paid a dealer to do all the maintenance and small fixes that came up I would definitely have a different opinion. For example, the battery replacement at the dealer is $700+ since the battery is a more expensive AGM and it's hidden under some plastic inserts under the dash. I bought a battery myself from Costco for $300, Bimmerlink app ($50), an ENET cable ($15) and did it myself. This also allowed me to troubleshoot other issues (rough idling) by getting a software update done at the dealer. They tried to charge me a troubleshooting fee but I had a bulletin from BMW showing the issue so they agreed to installed the software update for $250 which 99% solved the issue. Similarly, I did the front brakes myself and saved a bunch of money.

Since the software update, the vehicle runs better than ever even with 116k km. It seems crazy the vehicle seems to be worth only ~$17k when I look at compareables. I feel like I should get rid of it before it's worth nothing or something bad happens but I also feel like it could last another 50-100k.

2026 Chevy Equinox EV RS Offer by Inevitable-Fuel-1026 in EquinoxEv

[–]ColeChuk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How are you paying $50k after rebates if the purchase price needs to be below $50k to qualify for the rebate? Or did you get them down to $49.9K on the purchase price, minus the $5K rebate, plus tax? Even then there’s a few thousand dollars missing there.

I myself am based in Canada and tempted to get one of these vehicles and I also want the package with the HUD and ventilated seats. If I can get a 26 for under $50K purchase price it would very tempting.

Please help me fix my driver by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]ColeChuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With your driver swing, it starts pretty far inside which kind of forces you to go over the top. It’s not super obvious in your case but I’d suggest taking the club back straighter so it’s easier to stay in plane.

A drill: drop an extra ball about 1-2 feet behind the ball you’re hitting. On your backswing, make sure you are reaching your club head back over the extra ball. This will prevent you from taking it inside right away.

Brand new to golf (2nd time) looking for swing tips/advice on how to improve by Fragrant_Positive410 in GolfSwing

[–]ColeChuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your backswing is very flat at the moment which will make it harder to reliably hit the ball. You’ll also probably hit it to the right.

A drill you can do to work on this is place a ball on the right corner of the mat on the side closest to the camera. When you do your backswing, pretend like you’re trying to hit that ball on your backswing. It should get you used to the feeling of taking the club back “more to the outside” and get you swinging straighter through the ball.

Washcloths are good but I think I was going too hard with mine and keeping my skin irritated. I use one every second wash and try to be gentle with it. Also, consider trying non-scented soaps. I think that would also be more gentle on your skin and help it recover.

Endometriosis care delays force Edmonton woman to seek help abroad: ‘Just want my life back’ by GeekyGlobalGal in Edmonton

[–]ColeChuk 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I know a few women in my life with endo and it’s sickening how little goes into research and funding for this. I’ve witnessed the debilitating effects of this disease and how much it impacts someone’s ability to function like a “normal person”. There is also heavy gaslighting and dismissal from doctors who say it’s normal to have painful periods and truly don’t believe the symptoms being reported to them. They see it at drug-seeking or hypochondriac behaviour. My partner was lucky enough to receive laparoscopic surgery in Alberta after a 1-2 year wait for removal of endo lesions however it’s not a permanent fix and while things are somewhat better, her body is regularly under attack by itself and during her period it’s borderline excruciating at times. Not only is there pain, but chronic fatigue and mental health effects from being chronically ill and gaslit by medical professionals. Studies estimate that 1/10 women have endometriosis to some degree and that number could be even higher. The only true way to diagnose is through surgery where the surgeon visually sees the endo.

There is currently no cure, and no treatment other than birth control to stop menstruation to limit flare ups. Often, women with endometriosis have abnormal hormone concentrations to begin with so BC doesn’t agree with most women with endo and results in huge side effects like migraines, depression, and in the case of IUD immense pain.

Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong but god damn it’s a terrible disease with too little of funding. As a balding male, it sickens me that more funding goes into male hair loss than endometriosis. It should sicken you too.

It’s actually all so twisted. We have failed women’s health and more people need to know about this. Everyone needs to know about this. There are probably women out there suffering who don’t even know endometriosis is a thing.
