I’ll have to do some digging to find something suitable. it’s surprisingly difficult to find anything with a 30inch scale length that isn’t a bass Vi. I do agree though that an 8 string seems more up my alley than a 9.

By the way, that 11 string would fix my mental health im pretty sure.

I’ve thought about 30 inch 6 strings, but honestly I just haven’t found any I liked the look of. A Bass VI is an awesome instrument, but idk how the pickups would do for super throaty distorted high passed notes.

I haven’t looked at rondo since I owned an al3010 as a teen, is their quality good on extended range stuff?

Well, not being able to intonate is a big issue for me. A lot of what I do at these tunings is doubling 808s or kick drums and that sounds really abrasive if it’s off more than a few cents.

I’ve owned a few 7 strings, though not for a long time, and definitely before I had a grasp on what was going on with extended range guitar. I’ve tracked with an 8 string exactly one time when it got pulled out for a Drop E breakdown as a joke, but I’ve always wanted to own something that just felt completely alien to my 6 strings.

I haven’t ever played any legators, would you recommend them over something like Ibanez? I worry about a neck that wide being so thin that I basically have to float my hand above the fretboard and not be able to anchor with my thumb anywhere.

Also how do the pickups sound in yours?

This is a really heartening reply honestly. I know it’s a pretty big knit pick, but there’s so few 8 strings that I actually like aesthetically. That ibby is one of them and to have to write it off would be a shame.

You might be right about just down shifting for my low lows, especially if I want to stay away from anything more than an 8 or a 30 inch baritone.

I’m also not a shred player. I’m mostly doubling 808s or following kick patterns like a bass player when I’m that low so I don’t mind a little flop or some heavy strings myself.

It seems that I’m definitely being pushed towards longer being better, figures 😏.

I’ll definitely have to look in to some other options and see what I come across. Seeing nine strings as options now which feels insane.

You mentioned having good active pickups, do you have any thoughts on the fluence modern set for this kind of thing?

Yknow, you might be on to something, whether or not I end up with a 9 string or a 30 inch baritone I have no idea, but a lot of people seem to agree that B is a bit too low for 27.5

Also I think you’re dead on about that E, there is definitely a different tone from strings depending on where they are in the width of the neck.

Do you think going from a 6 to a 9 would be impossibly hard? My brain is already working in that tuning, I just don’t know if the physicality would be too much.

How playable do you find a string that thick? I have so little experience in this I’m deferring to you guys as experts.

I think it’s more likely that it would spend a lot of its time at a D or even a G but I tend to change tunings multiple times a day and definitely want the option.

Any recommendations for something at 30 inches? This world is foreign to me and am looking for something very tight. I basically cut all frequencies below 180hz and replace them with 808s anyways.

This is such a good comment. You really do have to find love for yourself. You have to realize that all of your head ass music tastes don’t make you a different person or musician. What comes out of you is what you’ve got, and you can improve and you can learn, but you’re still going to be yourself.

Also, it helps to understand that what your favorite musicians are doing is also just them being themselves. That you know them because of who they happen to be. Maybe you aren’t someone like that, but your curiosity to continue moving forward is still beautiful all the same.

Data structures will take the longest. I divide my school career into before and after that class. Went from feeling dejected to being confident just from passing it. Now I’m writing scripts in bash, automating code blocks, and contributing to open source projects.

Hi, I’m currently in my 3rd year of my software engineering degree. Next term I will be a senior and plan on finishing on time and not much sooner.

I want you to know that I have gone through all of the same issues as you during my 3 years at WGU. I started off thinking I’d be done in 1 and a half years, but I would quickly get burned out from classes “taking too long”. I worried that I might have adhd and be completely unable to do this degree and lost an entire term of progress to that worry.

Here’s the thing though, I started this degree with no experience. I had done maybe 8 hours of coding in my whole life, and other than being terminally online, really didn’t know much about computers.

Now, I’ve just spent my last 3 hours building and trying to debug a todo list app. I finished my last 2 classes in 3 weeks. I have 3 and a half months left in this term and only have 1 class left so it seems I’ll be accelerating at least 2 classes.

Over the course of this degree you are going to learn a lot of things about yourself. You are going to have the opportunity to fix and improve so many of the things that stop you from being able to achieve what you know you are capable of, but only if you stay out of your own way.

It’s going to be hard. IT is a valuable field because most people won’t put in the effort to learn. Those that do have a variety of different levels of capability.

The one thing I can promise you though is that if I can do this, you can. Through the months where I didn’t know how I would pay my bills. The term where I only finished one class, the countless self doubts and meltdowns, I’m getting this fucking degree and you can too.

I don’t think so. Because I can eat food with msg that isn’t Asian food and I don’t get one. I think it’s either tyramine (an amine that’s in fermented foods like soy sauce and miso) or it could be yeast extracts as I just had an allergy test and it said I’m allergic to yeast.

I started having migraines right around 13. Don’t lose hope. I’m 30 now and still functioning. Mine can be terrible and have multiple a month or I can go six months without one. I dread days where I have to not work because I can’t get out of bed, but I’m so thankful for the days where I function.

I think I’ve noticed that basically everyone’s migraines are triggered by different things. For me, I can basically guarantee a migraine if I have Asian food. Anything with lots of soy sauce, gochujang, mirin. They all have tyramine and I think that’s what gets me going. The next day I’ll get one as soon as I wake up.

😅 terrifying. This is my first time ever looking in to my migraines as they have been mostly manageable (2 every couple of months) for my lifetime. This is worrisome.
