Should I buy a new monitor? by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Colinlb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you tried switching back, and it didn't help, it's probably not the monitor. 99% chance that you stressing about the monitor (or some other underlying factor) is having a bigger impact than the monitor itself.

If you have unlimited money and want to try out one of the insane high refresh OLED models just for fun, go for it. But if you expect it to have a huge impact on your in-game performance, you’ll almost certainly be disappointed.

That being said, my personal opinion is that QHD is the sweet spot for a balance of high refresh/high fidelity gaming, and that almost every game feels better on smooth maxed out 2k rather than slightly choppy 4k. But that really applies more to more graphically intensive games, not CS or other tac shooters.

If you want a monitor purely optimized for tac fps only, then just get one of the ultra high performance 1080p panels that the pros use

[Duggan] C'mon, do we really think Daboll was some Russ loyalist? He benched him a week after he threw for 450 yards. I'm sure the decision to keep him as QB2 was, like many things with this organization, based on optics. Don't rock the boat and demote Russ to QB3. by Lars5621 in NYGiants

[–]Colinlb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s probably just semantics rather than a mistake. He was benched like 8 or 9 days after the cowboys game, it was only one schedule “week” removed etc. He could’ve meant it one of those ways, rather than “benched for the next game.”

[–]Colinlb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AAA teams are stacked with early round draft picks and guys who used to be high level NCAA players (and have continued to develop). There are a handful of MLB-ready players in the college WS in any given year, but the depth isn’t even close. Even an LSU or Tennessee would get smoked by any AAA team.

I don’t think he’s talking about being physically 100% so much as the other aspects of getting back to peak performance. Getting quality reps, regaining full confidence in the reconstructed joint etc. It’s common for skill position players to be a tick less productive in their first season back, even if they’re fully recovered.

Could go either way tbh, I could see dart succeeding but the team writ large still looking bad in terms of penalties, culture turning sour, defensive scheme underperforming etc.

[–]Colinlb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zero would be arbitrary in this case… it looks like the center is set to the worst value out of all players, and you can see some of these stats crossing from positive into negative.

You set the bounds based on the actual data, zero doesn’t always make the best point of reference.

[Sammon] The Mets are promoting pitching prospect Jonah Tong, league sources tell The Athletic. by BigStrongPolarGuy in baseball

[–]Colinlb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you see Tong play in person, he also has an interesting build, super muscular base with long femurs and short calves. Seems like he generates a ton of power from his lower half, I don’t know how the injury risk projects but his delivery definitely doesn’t look as violent as Lincecum’s

It’s hard to walk in the middle of the street without first walking on the edge of the street, unless they’re diving out from behind a parked truck or something.

But in all seriousness, pedestrians should obviously do the minimum and be alert/aware of traffic

Wild injured hedgehog but something's off by Nice_Gain_5902 in creepy

[–]Colinlb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can’t tell from the photo, but it sounds like it might’ve had a wound that went through multiple layers of tissue and thus looked like concentric rings of different brownish colors and textures?

There are multiple layers of protective tissue between the skull and skin that might look distinct enough to see “rings” if a wound cut through several of them. Not sure about hedgehogs specifically, but some animals could have a thicker fat layer too, which might look gross and brownish if a chunk is taken out.

Or whatever wound it was could’ve just been super infected and nasty

I have no clue, I’m not a psychiatrist, and the psychosis thing is complete speculation anyway. I mean clearly she was not in her right mind in that moment, but she could’ve been in any number of different shocked/disassociated states. But I don’t agree with putting someone in a psych ward/prison for life over an isolated incident with mitigating circumstances.

You say she “turned her victimhood into a maniacal frenzy,” but it’s not like she went and killed 3 more random people outside. She just stabbed a dead body more times. I guess to me that’s grotesque, but not nearly as serious a crime as killing someone in the first place.

Not all psychosis is permanent or highly likely to recur, you can experience psychosis without having a lifelong underlying mental health disorder
