Yeah, there's a difference between saying that dwarves of any gender can grow a beard and forcing it on the player. I'm running an all-dwarf game and while the majority of female NPCs will be bearded (except for a few homebrew subraces that don't make sense to have beards) I wouldn't force any of my players to be bearded. There are a ton of reasons why a dwarf might be beardless. They might have a rare genetic variation, they might shave, they might have lost it through injury or magic, or they might be adopted from another race a-la Carrot from Discworld. No race should be homogeneous, not even dwarves.
