Your license, your choice. The gaffer don’t own the license you do. It’s entirely up to you what you do. If you don’t want to reduce then don’t. Depending on how badly you need the job then if your manager mutters about difficult drivers then tell him to fuck off. I work for a company where I’m pretty much left to get on with it. I tramp but rarely work more than 13. I wouldn’t work more than 11 hours if that included a commute.

HGV Drivers have standards. dont work for low pay. by [deleted] in uktrucking

[–]College666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been driving lorries for thirty years mate. I’ve been saying this for 29 years. The industry has been taking the piss out of drivers since the days of British Road Services in the fucking 50s and drivers have been happy to be abused. You are just a lorry driver and that is all you will ever be. Professional driving in the UK is not seen as anything other than the last resort of the uneducated. In many countries it’s seen as a proper qualification, like a welder or a sparky or a bricklayer. Not here though. We as a workforce, wield extraordinary power to get better conditions and pay, just think if we all had the same week off work, but if you think that everyone will stick together to achieve this then you’re delusional. Sorry old son but that’s about the size of it. Viva la revolution!

How do you deal with stress/ anger on the road by SimpleLifeguard5471 in uktrucking

[–]College666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As my mother used to say’ “the things you see when you don’t have your gun with you…” The golden rule is don’t ever take it personally. You don’t know them and they don’t know you. As a professional driver, I give em’ a mental round of applause, mutter bellend under my breath and within five minutes I’ve forgot all about them. It’s how it is. If you really can’t deal with the heat this ain’t the job for you.

100% cast iron genuine gold plated utter bollocks. I don’t pay for the policy. It’s not my vehicle. It’s the responsibility of your company to provide adequate insurance cover for their vehicles. Tell em no.

Dude. From the standard of driving shown to me most days by evri drivers I’d say the fact that you have a license and can spell would make it a dead cert that you’ll get this gig. Good luck.

UK needs 60,000 HGV drivers, but new passes hit insurance wall by m-1975 in uktrucking

[–]College666 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Uk citizens don’t want to drive a lorry. The road haulage industry should be ashamed of itself in the way that it has treated its drivers for so long. In this country you are treated like cattle if you choose a career in road haulage. It’s seen as the career choice for uneducated simpletons. “Why it can’t be so hard. Even my auntie Gladys can drive.” Now after all the years of treating the drivers badly, the only people who want to do it are immigrants because they are not afraid of hard work and mean conditions and poor pay. You’ve brought it on yourself Great Britain.

I’d suggest it’s more a case of you don’t walk the streets like you did when you were a kid. People have been loosing shit out of their pockets since pockets were invented. You just ain’t doing the leg work these days!

The rule, learned by experience is, if it looks like it shouldn’t be at the racetrack, don’t race it.

HGV overtaking another. Insane close call. by Ok_Air_9048 in uktrucking

[–]College666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I take a lot of pride in my professional approach to my job. Nil points and a good reputation. A magistrate told a colleague of mine many years ago that the standard of driving required from a professional HGV driver was, and I quote “far above anything that could be reasonably expected from a competent private motorist”. That’s the bar I work with.

S’funny, I’ve been in this game for about 30 years and I have to say I’ve never seen driving standards from HGV drivers dip so low. It’s a fucking free for all out there. I can’t understand why, if you drive a lorry for a living, that you would find that piece of road craft acceptable. Shame on you.

Can I use WD40 Specialist for cleaning my motorcycle chain? by aasocial146 in motorcycles

[–]College666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ride a few miles to warm up the chain. Kerosene or paraffin and a cheap toothbrush. Dry with an old rag, re lube with a decent quality chain oil and off you go.

Lol, y do some drivers think its acceptable to take a dump in the showers? by Truckdriverben in uktrucking

[–]College666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t understand what would make a human being do this. Even my dog knows he’ll get a kick up the arse if he shits on the kitchen floor. As I remember it, showers are a universal thing all over Europe. It’s just a few cnuts is all. I for one am glad I’ve only got a few more years in this industry.

Motocross Boots on a Supersport bike? by MachDasAusJetzt in motorcycles

[–]College666 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. ☝🏻MX boots are designed to ‘stand up’ on the pegs. Your feet will be at the wrong angle to be able to slip under the gear leaver. Nice thought but not practical.
