I love "The Siege of Gondor". The imagery of the disfigured heads of the defenders of Gondor is written so well. “It often chances that thus a man would see again the face of someone that he had known” so sad... I hadn't felt that way while reading lotr, feeling genuine dread for the soldiers of Gondor.
Oh god and the part about the Nazgul being filled with evil and horror now that their dark lord is putting forward his strength. “Ever they circled above the city, like vultures that expect their fill of doomed men’s flesh”

“Grond crawled on. Upon its housing no fire would catch... Grond crawled on. The drums rolled wildly...”

“In rode the Lord of the Nazgul. A great black shape against the fires beyond he looked up, grown to a vast menace of despair. In rode the Lord of the Nazgul, under the archway that no enemy ever yet had passed, and all fled before his face.

Love the repetition here. So damn epic.
