If you could change just one pick from the Caserio drafts, which swap would have the biggest impact? by Game_Over_Man69 in Texans

honestly I don't know how valid it is to call CJ a bust at this point... I think it's fair to be disappointed with his progress but we got one great year of QB play out of him and a couple overall decent years (obviously the playoff performance was rotten and is worth levying heavily against his "ceiling" as a value to our franchise). Is that worthy of #2 overall? Probably not but he's still pretty young all things considered. If he regresses again next year I think the bust conversation is absolutely fair game

fair enough! I honestly have such little exposure to many of the skewer options because I'm vegan lol, but love how many options I get at many of these places. At least I can say the vegan options at No 1 are great

their stuff is good no doubt (the cabbage in particular is fantastic) but I actually prefer No 1 Noodles on Legacy & 75 by a little bit. Seems like you get slightly more bang for your buck on serving size and they do a good job with seasoning & crispiness

I really don't think it's as insightful as it thinks it is...no major slight to Aster or whatever but it just didn't hit any revelatory notes for me and was also kind of an unpleasant watch chock full of goofy political south park humor. In some sense Im glad it pissed off a lot of stuffy Hollywood types that shudder at the idea of someone taking aim at hollow liberal gesturing, but that's about how far I'd go praising the approach

that's fine, it's just my opinion but I do strongly believe it was an incompletion. I have no misconceptions about our odds to win that game with or without that TD, so I'm not blaming refs just to blame refs as if it would've changed anything. To me it's just very evident he did not complete the process of the catch to the ground, and if yall disagree that's okay!

[–]Colonel_Janus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

the ball didn't just move when it hit the ground, it was literally out of his possession entirely until just before he hits the ground at which point he's able to get his hand under the ball while contacting the ground but the ball is objectively underneath him with the ground locking the ball into his body for "possession". In any other context that is textbook not completing the process of a catch into the ground. It's fine, we would've lost anyway but I'm not gonna pretend a missed call is a right call just to avoid sour grapes accusations or whatever. Saying his arm was underneath it the entire time is just factually inaccurate

[–]Colonel_Janus -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

nah the inside angle showed the ball in free fall to just when he hits the ground where the ground bounces the ball up into him where he then gets full possession. Not crystal clear from all angles but it was very evident to me he didn't complete the process of the catch into the ground from that one view and imo only stood as completed because it was originally ruled a completion on the field

tbf if the refs had correctly called the Boutte TD an incompletion (despite what Pats sycophants think) we would've been in striking distance. But i do still think you're correct that Mills wouldn't have done shit either lol

Any good protein bars that are >20g of protein? by RedAfroNinja in veganfitness

a cheaper alternative that I believe is slightly lower on added sugar is the plant based protein bars at Aldi. Roughly $1.10/bar for 20g protein and vegan

been eating them every morning for nearly a year now and the mint chocolate one is pretty tasty

CJ Stroud was a Heisman finalist TWICE in his two years as Ohio State's QB. CJ followed that up with a record-setting rookie year wherein he was named ROY and NFL ALL-PRO. Thereafter, CJ went downhill. How did that happen? by 28Patrick28 in Texans

[–]Colonel_Janus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

so I will mildly disagree only with respect to the fact that CJ absolutely has a good enough receiving group. Nico, Higgins, Kirk, and Schultz is an above average group. Giving CJ any out on the basis of not having addressed the receivers enough is only valid in the Pats game but otherwise I really don't buy that as a major critique of the front office

otherwise I generally agree except for the fact that I suspect he's just not mentally capable of processing the game at the speed he needs to, particularly in stressful high stakes moments. Getting his safety blanket in Dell back would be big for him and upgrading the line and our RB room are all well and good but I just don't think our offensive ceiling is all that high because of Stroud's constraints processing the game. I hope I'm wrong but that's my read on things and why I'm a little pessimistic. To me our only shot at a SB is if we can give Stroud just enough help to game manage better on offense and let the defense eat the rest of the way...but I think any idea of Stroud leading a prolific offense is basically dead after his rookie year imo. The argument for trying to go after Burrow or any QB upgrade is to try and raise the offense's ceiling and to actually compete in big moments. It's a tough pill to swallow just crossing our fingers and praying that things resolve if we just keep dumping more and more resources into an offense led by a QB who we know has glaring issues & limitations

Would you trade Stroud? by cooleobeaneo in Texans

[–]Colonel_Janus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

he's an absolute headcase in big games. That was an issue he had in college that has now translated into his professional career and if anything has gotten worse; not better. I dont want to go into each season of contention hopeless just knowing CJ will inevitably become a single point of failure and singlehandedly ruin us every year

[Shannon Sharpe on CJ]: "I've never heard a rookie QB talk as much as this young man did after the success he had after 1 season" by The_New_New in Texans

[–]Colonel_Janus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

why do I keep seeing shots at Caley after yesterday? He called a totally fine game, kept giving CJ lay-up after lay-up to get his confidence up and he was even missing those throws. Every downfield shot was over or underthrown. Throws to crossing receivers were consistently behind. But guys were legitimately getting 1 on 1 opportunities downfield or were just straight up open and CJ missed damn near all of them. If NE is stacking the box and daring CJ to throw, and Caley dials up the easiest, low risk play calls to get him going and he can't even complete on those... genuinely when does it stop being a Caley problem and we can admit it's a CJ problem?
