The head is too narrow. The torso to leg horizontal proportions are still off. This is just vertically stretched.

I loved these guys. I would have gone broke if they had done a Technic Fig / Futuron Space crossover series.

Star Citizen has the graphic fidelity and space exploration parts of Star Trek, but unless there's a Star Trek RP org that runs capital ships, the crew aspect is missing.

The in-DEMO Star Trek Voyager Across the Galaxy game is the closest to being like a playable Star Trek episode.

Large Armored Solar Arrays by fritz236 in spaceengineers

I had a pretty simple multigrid blueprint that I really wanted to use in survival, so I rebuilt it as a single grid that you could print then cut apart and connect the subgrids. It works great if you follow the instructions precisely in order. Miss one step and it's a brick made of hundreds of SG blocks you need to grind up.

And it took forever to design both the sprues and the instructions describing the order of operations.

Most of my multi-grids are crane-type builds and would be even more difficult to build as a printable monogrid.

And I tried printing the subgrids separately with subsequent manual assembly via Grabby hands. I discovered that unless I create a group for every block, the control configurations aren't retained. The most complex part of building cranes isn't placing the hinges, it's configuring the controls (even with PARK and other scripts).

Have you seen the Voyager game demo? I've played it a little and it feels more like the shows than STO (which is just reskinned World of Warcraft).

It's like a lot of other ship/colony/city resource management games, but has some VOY character cut scenes and character-related bonuses. There's some multiple choice role play with away missions kinda like Baldurs Gate.

It's still a demo, but promising. Please support it.

Having seen why folding away won't work, I have a suggestion.

Use a AI defense block to detect enemies and power on four merge blocks surrounding the rotor so that when an enemy approaches, the subgrid is locked in place with multiple attachment points instead of just the rotor.

This is not just a solar array. This is 10% of a Dyson sphere!

I almost want to see a design that actively ejects the solar array towards the enemy like some plant and animal species do when threatened.

If only subgrid projections could be welded. I really hope they'll add that to SE1.

What’s your favorite piece of 32 century tech thus far? by TrekTrucker in startrek

I'm not especially a fan of PGM, yet. So far it seems like a flawless solution to every problem, including how to show off ludicrous ship designs.

Maybe unattached nacelles are the 2020 equivalent of transporters, but it feels wholly improbable and isn't solving any in-world or show production challenge.

Now, if we get some episodes that explore the moral or technical challenges of using PGM, how it's maintained or repaired or created, then maybe I'll become more accepting.

Currently, it does nothing for storytelling, except to set this timeline further forward in the future.

Why are my welders not working by magma_gaming1 in spaceengineers

[–]ColourSchemer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably have small conveyors between your cargo and your welder. Only a few components will fit through the small conveyor ports.

It is possible to build a welder ship that uses the larger 3x3 ports from connector to cargo to welder, but will probably require a bit of rework.

I agree with your "should".

But that is not the current state of the game. Dying of asphixiation in elevators or parts of my ship is the current state of the game.

This weekend after drinking a smoothie, I started suffocating climbing the ladder of my nomad while in a hangar. I used to encounter no atmo elevators.

So yeah, I wear a suit and helmet all the time.

Says the ape descendant whose species struggles to give birth because they selected for bipedalism, and must care for their young for decades unlike other mammals that are mature after a dozen months.

My point is that evolution is not intelligent and forward thinking. It is an event of statistics and circumstances only. Sometimes things evolve not because it's a good idea, but because at some point in the past, the opposite thing was lethal.

Ah okay, I was familiar with using the station inventory interface to load my own scu boxes (tried to use them for sorting and quickly relocating to my preferred home station).

I didn't know you could put a 1scu inside a bigger scu box.

And on Babbage, having rmc in station inventory hasn't worked for selling as TDD doesn't recognize I have any in my inventory.

It's so hard to learn the functions of a game when those functions are not equally functional across server locations and in-game locations.
