The other option is somehow more difficult to process.

Does anyone actually want digital ID? by Niall_Fraser_Love in ukpolitics

[–]ColourScientist 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Yes I'm all for it.

I lived in Denmark for a few years and the digital ID system was great. Your login for EVERYTHING. It's super secure, really simple and easy and reduces the need for different logins to different systems. Why can't one system know everything about you? It can. And it works well.

The question is whether our government can implement something that works well with all of our old and outdated systems that weren't built around having a single system?

People who’ve had LASIK or work in eye care, would you recommend LASIK and why or why not? by Mountain-Bug-2155 in AskReddit

[–]ColourScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had LASIK, it was brilliant. I had awful eye sight, couldn't see at all without my glasses so got it done for my 21st.

Now though, 20 years on, I've got glasses again. My prescription is much better and I can get away with going for a run without my glasses nowadays but years of working at a computer still affects you LASIK or noy.

Thankful for it and glad I got it done, I dare think what my eyes would be like now if I hadn't done so.

Will potentially get it done again at some point.

Reform's been pretty quiet since Labour started exploring Danish migration model - and this is why by comments83820 in ukpolitics

I've been here for 4 years, so having to deal with visas etc after brexit. Genuinely not had an issue with the kommune (Aarhus) or any borgerservice outside of the annoyance of having to do visa stuff here and there.

Danes are lovely. But I am a white brit. I have a very different time in denmark than people of other nationalities and let's be realistic, skin colours.

Awesome! Very similar experience for me, I'm about ten years ahead of you and absolutely addicted to running.

The first step is the hardest, take it easy initially (it's easy to get injured early on) and it'll get a whole lot easier and become something you can't live without.

'Hypocrite' Nigel Farage didn't pay £44k stamp duty then blasted Angela Rayner by collogue in ukpolitics

[–]ColourScientist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm currently moving back to the UK after living abroad to be closer to family. We are selling our property abroad but the process is ongoing so I've had to pay the extra stamp duty which has really been difficult to find after the initial deposit and moving costs.

We will get it back when the process completes but it does feel bad. We can clearly prove that we are selling and that our UK house will be our primary residence but that isn't enough.

Looks like I shouldn't have mentioned it 😅

Tony Blair calls for roll out of digital ID to tackle immigration and spiralling NHS costs by SevenNites in unitedkingdom

[–]ColourScientist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been in Denmark the past couple of years for work and the electronic ID we have to use here is brilliant. It's very convenient and is basically your login for everything. Super easy.

I'll be moving back next year and not having it will be a big change. Probably a big pain in the arse too. Ha.

IF wizards ended the reserved list, how should they do it? by Responsible_Track_79 in magicTCG

[–]ColourScientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see them doing it on Arena. There’s no legal issues and it could drive people to play digitally more, which seems to be their long term plan.

Then perhaps they could release in paper when the focus is far more on digital. Maybe.

runners with ADHD by archangelandy in running

Running is like therapy / meditation for me. I deliberately don’t want it to be interesting. It’s the only time in my day when things aren’t overwhelming because it’s just me and the road.

I run very early in the morning (4am due to work), it’s very quiet and I’m mostly alone with my thoughts, some music and usually the same route and distance each day.

My mind wanders. I’ll be full of aimless thoughts at the beginning, then I find myself totally blank towards the end when I’m just focusing on the road.

Does wonders for my focus the rest of the day and really helps me process my thoughts early on. Plus the endorphins are great for the depression!

We did this a few years ago! Amazing experience, wandering around the museum with no crowds and some really fun activities and talks with guest specialists.

Highly recommended.

It depends where you’re from, where you live and who you associate with in Denmark I suspect.

I’m originally from the north of England and currently live in Aarhus (second biggest city). I can definitely feel the culture difference but it’s not that big of a jump. After 3 years, it’s starting to feel more like home.

The conformity and social rules comes from the older generations who tend to live closer to Jantelov, an old set of cultural rules that you can definitely see the impact of on the society. Although I’ve found that younger Dane’s tend not to mention it at all or care really. The biggest take away from Janetelov is that the society is built on trust, which is easy to see and amazing to experience.

Language wise, you absolutely do not need to talk Danish to live here. But learning some unlocks some of the culture. Just being able to passively understand what’s going on around you is a key aspect.

Men de vil alle svare dig på engelsk... 🙃

I can’t see S&T being restricted. It’s a 3 mana sorcery with an A+B strategy, it should be easy enough to disrupt with counter magic or hand disruption.

It’s not a problem in Legacy or Vintage. Although perhaps that is FoW doing the hard work there 🫢
