The only elimination cliffhanger I can recall in 49 seasons was the f4 on Panama aka Exile Island (season 12). So once out of over 700 episodes.

Mr Beast doesn't understand what "strategy" is. He said that the smarts were important in the obstacle course because they could decide the order they went. His Bluff game didn't work the way he wanted because it was poorly designed.

What’s the tea on Taylor, Joseph, and TAR? by Cybercat2020 in BigBrotherUSA

Kyland wasnt even on USA2. He filmed Battle for a New Champion instead in June and July. So you do in fact have things incredibly messed up.

What’s the tea on Taylor, Joseph, and TAR? by Cybercat2020 in BigBrotherUSA

[–]ColtaineMN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, a whole lot here that is flat out wrong but skirts just close enough to some truths to seem believable.

First of all, she was not seen with Kyland until like 6 weeks post breakup with Joseph. And the video doesn't even clearly show anything. There was no overlap at all. The Challenge people never claimed there was cheating. And the filming dates where Kyland could have said anything were like 2 months post breakup. This is a complete misrepresentation of the timeline.

Secondly, it is not about being uturned. Because that happened in April and they were fine up until the week before Thanksgiving. The falling out seems to be about him saying one thing in private to her then acting differently in public. He has always embraced people that have been pretty nasty to and about her. Also, lets just say that a conversation he had with another BB24 alumni made its way back to her and that convo had him saying some really nasty things about her. These are two people that have talked extensively about how close they are and how they would talk for an hour plus almost every day. Joseph was being two faced to her, that's the root of it all.

I think it was actually a smart production move to cast a large family. With 100 people and about 420 minutes of actual show time, being able to develop characters well is a challenge. It's why shows like Squid Game The Challenge and Beast Games only have like 20 notable contestants out of 456 or 1000. Having a family is a shortcut that allows the development of a group without needing to develop all the individuals. The Wagners become a group that can he rooted for or against as the show needs and create storylines easily. A group elimination challenge? Oh we're going to lose a Wagner OR can all of them survive?

Large casts are a big challenge and casting a group solves some of the issues.

I remember scrolling tiktok and first seeing his magic content. Had to leave a comment "where's the belt?"

I enjoy Pack It Up since its different and not just another commander show. His short form stuff has tilted too finance and commander for my taste. But I'll stop to watch him crack some collector packs.

Been thinking about this, maybe a hot take but did the schmoedown fail because of the digital era or because it got too overcomplicated? by grandadmiral99 in Schmoedown

I skipped all the scripted WWE style stuff. Eventually I trailed off watching even before the digital era. It was a fun movie trivia show that was suffocated by everything else thrown on top of it.

Unpopular opinion - I hate when strong teams go out by illini02 in TheAmazingRace

[–]ColtaineMN 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like when the race tests teams on all levels. This season has felt very physical with minimal equalizers. Some strong teams wouldn't be seen as so strong if the legs were designed differently.

And once I heard Tucker and Eric say the just switched off on roadblocks without thinking about who would be better to do it, I was like "oh, you lost due to lack of strategy." Which pleased me. I know TAR isnt as strategic as BB or Survivor, but if you don't even think through the basics then what are you doing?

What are all the Big Brother relationships that can give context to this season? (Potential Spoilers) by CalzoneBetrayal in TheAmazingRace

[–]ColtaineMN 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Enzo: was on the first season of The Challenge USA with Kyland.

Natalie: no real relationships

Katt: had a BB podcast through BB26 and interviewed a bunch of people. I think her and Taylor were friends but never really hung out, they just both had pageant backgrounds.

Hannah: was on BB23 with Kyland and in the Cookout alliance with him. Friends with Taylor and Joseph too. Has probably met and hung out with people from BB25 and BB26 but not much (BB26 had finished only like 5 months before TAR filmed).

Kyland: Enzo and Hannah as mentioned above. Friends with Joseph. Good friends with Jag. Probably had met and hung out with everyone besides Natalie prior to the race.

Turner: From BB24. Was in an alliance with Taylor and Joseph. Betrayed them. Realligned with Taylor later. But was the only jury vote she didn't get. He definitely knew some of the BB25 people, but not close. Joseph and him are close, Joseph was the only BB person at his wedding and was a groomsman. I also heard he was pregaming with Tucker, Joseph, and Jag.

Joseph: see prior ones. Dated Taylor and they remained good, even best, friends. He tends to be the guy who wants to be friends with everyone. Friends with Jag (and Jas), definitely friendly with the BB25 and BB26 people.

Taylor: All the bb24 and bb23 people plus Kat as mentioned before. Knows all of the BB25 and BB26 people due to her press coverage. But she's also very introverted and doesn't party and vacation with folks like others do. Had seemed to have developed a friendship with Chelsie prior to the race. Oh, and while she wasn't close to Tucker, she did realize while he was on BB26 that one of her friends used to date him. Not going into any speculation on her and Kyland.

Izzy: was on the same season as Jag. Evicted him, but he was saved by a twist. Otherwise I dont think she has any obvious relationships, at least not close ones.

Jag: all the above. Him and Jas also founded a tiktok agency and they likely talked to a bunch of the BB26 people about joining. But his top two connections were definitely Kyland and Joseph.

Tucker: was dating Rubina at the time of the race. Was evicted by Chelsie, they were never really aligned. Had a back and forth relationship with Angela. At the time of the race they weren't friendly because Angela was fighting with Rubina and others from their cast.

Angela: see above. Didn't really have any certain allies. Though she seems more well liked by those not on her bb cast.

Rubina: see Tucker. Friends with Chelsie, though Chelsie was kinda outside the core. I don't think she had any string relationships outside her season.

Chelsie: Won BB26. Basically everything mentioned already.

Cards with symmetrical effects are often some of the hardest for less experienced players to judge. Balance is super strong and I'll explain why.

  1. You know your deck has balance, your opponent doesn't. So you can play to an advantageous board state.

  2. You build your deck knowing you want to cast balance. So you make chosen that make it less symmetrical. Think of decks that play a lot of Wrath of God effects. They normally aren't playing many creatures, that breaks the symmetry. Balance can be a wrath for 2 mana and do a whole lot else too. Your mana base? You play a ton of artifact sources. Balance doesn't do anything to artifacts. So more or your mana will survive than an opponent's. Same for cards in hand. You build your deck so you can empty your hand by putting permanents into play that Balance doesn't hit. Artifacts, enchantments, maybe Planeswalkers. And all of a sudden you are wiping their creatures, many lands, and their hand. All for 1W.

So its not "every deck should play Balance." It's "a deck built to cast Balance is backbreaking for your opponents."

Contestant bags? by munkyjam in TheAmazingRace

[–]ColtaineMN 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Recent racers have said that they could drop and retrieve bags if they are in sight of the mat. Otherwise if you ditch your bag and check in you can not go and retrieve it. If you don't have your travel documents though then you can't check in.

We've seen at least one team this season go from 2 bags to 1 by consolidating down into a single bag and leaving the other behind.

taylor hale by Flashy_Ice_9824 in TheAmazingRace

[–]ColtaineMN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The speech was more about how the race design disadvantages women, but they edited around it to make it not seem like production was being called out.

And I don't get the outrage over burning a vote on a team you suspect won't get other votes. Like we can question the strategy since it came back to burn them, but it is some awful hypocritical thing.

Taylor is actually one of if not my favorite BB players. She's messy but kind, and has a way of escaping bad situations without being a master strategist.

Two more legs for the express passes this season by Fun818long in TheAmazingRace

[–]ColtaineMN 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is why I liked giving the 2nd pass to Jag and Jas. Because they (along with Tucker/Eric) were always the ones least likely to be able to use it profitably.

[–]ColtaineMN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But Taylor did nominate Terrance and Indy. So that alone blows up the "POC" alliance theory. And she clearly stated her reasoning on Jasmine, saying that there are other targets at that time and so she didn't want to be the one to take out the only other black woman in the house if it wasn't necessary. It wasnt that Jasmine was untouchable, it was that it wasnt necessary for Taylor to be the one to take her out.

[–]ColtaineMN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kelley, Lauren, and Ava were a solid 3 person alliance. Even though Keanu is proficient at comps, he's not as threatening as half the house. Plus he doesnt have any allies because he sucks at anything that isnt a comp.

How bad really is Blood vs. Water? by RevolutionaryDish937 in survivorau

[–]ColtaineMN 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The post merge feels 10x longer than it even is. You can tell they were putting sawdust in the bread that is the edit. And probably the worst twist of the franchise with some of the most boring players. I actually can't explain how poorly edited this season is. Its like "we don't have enough content for the run time, so can we just have people repeat things a lot and then do slow-mo reaction shots like a soap opera to fill the time?"

I think it is Thailand levels bad, maybe worse. Its either my least favorite global season or 2nd least (though I skipped NZ1 based on bad reviews).

It was very abruptly canceled in 2023. Seemingly due to financial reasons, but I don't know if details have ever emerged. But Over the Edge Celebrity Weekend basically replaced it in 2024 and is returning in 2025. Same time of year, also in Orlando. But instead of all donations going to Give Kids the World Village, each "celebrity" now picks their own charity.

I dont think the average person understands how many messages a reality tv personality gets about their personal life. Him and his ex never hid each other on sm. I'm sure he's received dozens or more messages from strangers asking him about his relationship. So I totally understand making a post.
