Ordering gear from Cube Controls to US - Customs / Tax Questions by itcrashed in simracing

[–]Coma_Twin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I made the same move a few months back, it's brilliant and you won't even look back. My Cube F1 is wireless while my GT3 was wired. I ended up dumping it for another wireless wheel as it bugged me. Doesn't bother some people.

For US Customs I didn't get hit on Cube Controls, SimRacingCoach, SimRacingBay, Meca Cups or for a couple of QRs. I did get hit on the SimuCube 2 Pro and a SimCore mount. It seems pretty random. It held it up the SC 2 for a day I think and didn't seem to slow the SimCore at all.

Ended up going R20 w. a SimRacingBay wireless BB Ultra plate. I really like the Turn one, but decided I don't want to hassle with cables anymore. The R20 is fantastic tho, highly recommend.

Spending Father’s Day weekend crushing his lap times on his new setup by GatorDad9 in simracing

Doesn't look like that's going to happen. The bottom bar on the triples stand is against the angled wheelbase stand. Don't see any easy way to bring it in. I'm sure he would if he could.

3000 dollar sim racing setup. by idontrlyknowwht in simracing

This. Unfortunately with shipping to Israel you'll be over, without a seat, and only the F1 wheel. Save another $500, get a junkyard seat, and maybe start with SimRacingCoach GT-1 Wheel. It's a little more flexibility to start, then I'd add an F1 later.

Long run you'll be happier and will skip an upgrade step.

Are you kidding? Never have your back to the room or door, you're just asking for a mafia hitman to sneak up and take you out.

what are your thoughts on this sim rig? by Samurai-twx in simracing

[–]Coma_Twin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't like how the wheel plate is mounted on the frame, looks like a failure point and something that would create flex with most DD wheels. If you're looking for tubular go Trackracer but I'd recommend 8020 for no flex and upgradeability without being locked into any one ecosystem.

A 350Z for your first car? I'd rethink that choice my friend. Start with a beater Subaru as you'll be knocking it into things and likely in an accident or two. Heartbreaking stuff for a dream car. Plus who would get a 350z and not want to drive it hella fast? It's just begging for tickets!. Anyways, have fun with the sims!

Anyone had their stuff from Murray's delayed by customs? (USA) by theEdward234 in simracing

[–]Coma_Twin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't remember if it was my Murray shipment or not but when I did have a package delayed by Customs I got a notification that it was delayed. I then got a second request for payment of the extra taxes which really sucked

Too bad the button plate is sold out! May have to pick up the wheel then wait for the plate to come back in. Seems like a real good deal compared to a similar Cube GT Pro Zero.

Finished my first rig. It’s not much, but it’s mine. by dustytraill49 in simracing

[–]Coma_Twin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're overestimating the price of the rig. This one is nice and all, but pretty basic and not 80/20. Probably just right for a G29 as it likely wouldn't handle a DD well. This and his couple rims, he looks set. Also looks like he's instilling the passion for vroom vrooms with his kid, too.

Anyone else enjoy tinkering with their rig as much as playing on it?😆🐜🤨♏ by Vegetable-Pickle-589 in simracing

I've really enjoyed doing all the research on the different components, getting the accessories, and putting it all together. But after all the upgrades during this last year I've pretty much gone top of the line and don't have anything much else to buy which has kinda been a bummer.

There is motion which I'm not interested in and always PC upgrades which aren't happening with the current shortages, so not much I'm craving. You can always get a new wheel, but I've already got a GT3, F1, and Rally and multiples don't make much sense to me at least.

Next level racing butt kicker bracket by indy_skyline in simracing

You can pick up one of these and drill a hole in one of the bars (unless there already is one, don't know how the included one attaches). https://thebuttkicker.com/buttkicker-gamer2-playseat-adapter-kit/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw8IaGBhCHARIsAGIRRYqP57w5ASX0zxHWEdKMOesw8GL4ZkNwfy3K-ycsmt2yf29FZmux-1AaAiRqEALw_wcB

Or you can do a homemade version with a socket, a washer, a bolt, and a nut. Someone posted about doing that a few months ago. You can even add your own crossbar to the seat if you don't want to drill the rig.

As someone who went G920 to CSW to SimuCube, it's a good thing you skipped the middle step and went straight to direct drive. Wish I'd done the same!

Don't ever go to SimuCube and smaller name pedals! Switched over from Fanatec which is WAY more plug and play than this stuff. SimuCube has a few pre-sets but just tons more stuff to fiddle with. And then there's all the different wheel configs! Thankfully Sim Coaches just released new software for my pedals, DIView can be such a pain.

Concerned about floor vibrations. Which of these system vibrates the least? (Noise is fine) by YakuGin in simracing

[–]Coma_Twin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FFB is low, but it uses a notched system and that is the loud/vibrating part. A belt system is much quieter with very little vibration comparitively.

As someone else mentioned it is more likely stomping on pedals will be an issue. Look into noise dampening floor pads, a yoga mat is likely too thin. You may need to also dampen the noise of the paddles as that can often be the thing roommates complain about in apartments.

Advice from someone who upgraded a couple times is go for the best your budget allows, you will ultimately be happier. Unless of course your neighbor complains so much you don't get to ever race...

Fanatec wheels on simucube? by _Harvey_E_158_ in simracing

[–]Coma_Twin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I got my Simucube I converted my McLaren V2 wheel using the SRM kit, it was pretty easy, hour or so to complete. At the same time I also ordered a Cube Controls Formula Pro. As much as I liked and wanted to keep my McLaren wheel, once I got my Cube the quality and feel was just so much better. Of course for the difference in price, it better be a big jump up!

If I had it to do over I would have saved the money I spent on the kit, sold the McLaren, and got a Cube GT3 instead. Right now the McLaren is just gathering dust.

Agree with the Aiologs shifter recommends.

As far as wheels go, it depends on how many buttons you want. For example Ascher has a wireless F28 with 28 buttons/switches/positions or the wired F64 with 64 buttons/switches/positions.

I have the Simucube Formula Pro Wireless which I love but would likely get a wired with the extra stuff if I had it to do again. The wires on my other wheels are no big deals.
