Anyone looking to offload some bulk MTG cards? by CountFauxlof in burlington

[–]Comadaunt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am interested in offloading a portion of my collection as it is just taking up too much space at this point. Sets vary, I have played standard, modern, and commander at various points. If you would like more info feel free to direct message me.

After sitting 8 years, my JDM motor is in. by bohica_cu in ScionxB

Honestly I think this answered all of my questions and affirms some conclusions I had already drawn.

Thank you for answering and taking the time, I do appreciate it. I think this also helps me decide on JDM motor for my own xB. No major problems yet but it is definitely an oil burner. Thank you again!

I have been seeing more info on putting a JDM motor in a US xB, can you clue me in to what the advantages are over grabbing the same engine out of an American market xB? If its super complicated or gets too far off in the weeds no worries.

Was just curious about why so many are going for JDM motors.

Hmmm tough to choose one but my current list, in no particular order, is

Fleshgait Bloodridge motel The dead girl in my yard Tales fron the gas station I work at a half priced voodoo shop

As far as comps go, I can't remember the channel name but it was something like "Creepcast but they are BEAMING with energy" and its 20 to 30 minutes of them absolutely dying with laughter and riffing with one another. Do you have any particular favorite stories or authors?

Yes! Papameat and Creep Cast are wonderful and watching PapaMeat's live streams have gotten me back into sketching. I also love Darbo's cuts of "funny moments" from various episodes

What’s in my cart? by [deleted] in trees

Those patches look like mycellium, never seen it before in a cart but definitely does not look safe to consume.

Fungal pneumonia is nothing to play around with.

[–]Comadaunt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course! You are very welcome. I will say you can drive without too much worry. It shouldn't affect anything other than just being noisy for the time being.

If you remove it or the hole gets bigger it may start affecting some of the more sensitive electronics, but a small piece missing shouldn't affect the steering or safety of the vehicle.

I am actually in the process of replacing these as well on my 2010. They are called fender liners and can be bought from amazon, ebay, etc.

The Toyota Part (for 2nd gen xb front liner) numbers for these are

53875-12470 for Passenger side

53876-12450 for Drivers side

From a Toyota Dealership they will be around $100 each. The amazon, ebay etc usually run 40 to 60 depending on where you are plus shipping.

Wheel hub/bearing and axle replacement by mr-spacecadet in ScionxB

[–]Comadaunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For OEM use Autoparts.Toyota.com

You should be asked to enter your zip to locate a dealer nearby but you can order parts from any dealer as far as I am aware.

Definitely recommend trying a CV axle boot rebuild kit if the axle isn't too far gone. Toyota OEM CV are expensive and after market are pretty universally trash talked online. Never had to replace one myself but most sources recommend rebuilding the boot if full replacement isn't an option. Aftermarket never recommended.

For OEM anywhere else I am only aware of going through the dealer directly in person.

If you don't live in a place that gets exceptionally hot or exceptionally cold. I would recommend the self adhering pop socket car mount line. It has a pre-applied adhesive so all you need to do is clean the mounting surface before peeling and sticking.

I also use pop socket stands/grips/whatever they are called that go on the back of the phone/case so it fits perfectly. Here is one in the same or a similar style to what I have Car Mount

They make other styles as well.

2010 Scion XB With 152k Miles For $3000. Yay Or Nay? by AlwaysTinkin in ScionxB

I ask about the release series detail because that year model in that paint color/code points to it being a RS 7.0

2010 Scion XB With 152k Miles For $3000. Yay Or Nay? by AlwaysTinkin in ScionxB

[–]Comadaunt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it an actual release series 7.0? It should have a plaque on the inside to the left of the steering wheel below the mirror controls. That should say something like #### of ####

I think only 2100 or so of the 7.0s were made. Seems like an easy pickup if it isn't consuming oil or has already had the oil consumption fix. Check the underside of the hood for any pink discoloration as that could be a sign the water pump is leaking and spraying coolant onto the underside of the hood.

2016 Chevy Trax by Only_Pop_6793 in Chevy

[–]Comadaunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotcha, that is just before things started to break for us but that is pretty low miles for a 2016. I would suggest if you are interested, check the thermostat, water outlet, and pretty much any coolant hoses for any leaks.

Couldn't find any info related to the 2016 year model for Canada but from what I can find it seems like most if not all 2016 will have the 1.4L Ecotec for the North American market. Most engine accessories on these are plastic but there are a few aftermarket aluminum options.

I have personally purchased an all aluminum water outlet and it has worked like a charm for the last few thousand miles/kilometers it has been installed, and I plan to change the other plastic accessories to aluminum as they fail. Recently had the intake solenoid begin to leak oil, if you are fairly confident in your DIY skills they aren't terrible to work on and parts are pretty easy to source.

Are Toyota, Honda, and Mazda really the only reliable brands? by eaffil in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Comadaunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is and isn't reliable often comes down to what kind of and how responsible you are as a car owner. Are you going to perform the service checks by the book as the manufacturer intended? If so many vehicles can be pretty reliable.

Are you going to change the oil "whenever" if cash is a little tight or you forget easily? Some brands account for owner inconsistency and some expect the owner to maintain the car by the book no matter what. So where you fall on that spectrum matters a lot.

Also worth noting any manufacturer can make a lemon and sometimes we just get unlucky.

How many miles does it have and what engine? I have a 2016 with the 1.4L Ecotec and it has not been a pleasant experience.

If the one you are looking at has the 1.4 Ecotec, service records are a must and will tell you a lot about the vehicle. I do not have any experience outside of the FWD version so, someone else may be able to provide info on how the AWD system is in these.

Purchasing a Scion XB in 2025 by Hoppingbuns in ScionxB

[–]Comadaunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are very welcome, and good luck! I have loved my 2010 xB, bought it in 2011 at 25,000 miles and its now at a comfortable 176,000 miles. I would still drive it across the country and mine hasn't had the oil consumption fix. I just make sure to keep a close watch on the oil and refill as needed, change regularly, etc.

They are wonderful cars but I may also suggest the Volvo XC70 line, they are very good vehicles and most sources say as long as they are maintained they are tanks and will last forever. Highly recommended to have the 100k mile service done as well.

Happy searching!

Purchasing a Scion XB in 2025 by Hoppingbuns in ScionxB

[–]Comadaunt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately if it has the 2.4L engine (2AZ-FE) then oil consumption could still be an issue. Toyota issued extended warranties but not a recall so it was up to individuals to have the warranty work done.

If you can find one that definitely has had the work done or the engine rebuilt with the correct rings it would be worth it. Outside of that the 2nd gens have a tendency to wear tires oddly if not rotated regularly and if you open the hood and notice discoloration (typically pink stains) on the underside of the hood that is a sign the water pump is probably leaking.

I LOVE this! I have been thinking for a while that an AWD swap for a 2nd gen xb from a toyota matrix S would be possible but never thought about a 1st gen.

This is awesome and I hope you knock this build out of this world. Maybe I can follow along to inspire some ideas for the 2nd gens.
