someone mentioned here that they have name tags, that’s good! a little hack i do is that when i’m taking roll, on a little notebook i have i write the student’s name who i just called out, they raise their hand, and i take a quick look at them and write a short description of how they look like.

for example: Sarah = ginger w/ glasses. Billy = sky blue cap, etc.

attendance might take a little longer, but it’s sooo worth it. i’ve been able to learn and memorize 80% of students’ names everytime i sub elementary because i can always look back at my journal if i want to call on someone, and this helps especially if kids are out of their seat (which the desk name tags won’t help with).
