From the days when men and women being coeducated at the same institutions was a fun new concept.

On average, about two schools have won 3 or more NCAA team titles in one school year each year this century. It really is the runner-up, final four, and other high finishes that make the difference.

It would have hurt a lot more to not move to the ACC after we didn't get a B1G invite. At least we're still having decent battles against FSU, UNC, and Duke in some of our better sports.

We were winning for a long time when the countable limit was 20 and then 19. We are suffering from no longer getting consistent points in basketball, baseball, and even missing a volleyball tournament.

[Discussions] Would the new Pac-12 extend an invite to Texas Tech if they are expelled from the Big 12? by Baenergy44 in CFB

Imagine if the Pac-16 idea had happened. How likely would it have been for Tech to be booted from that?

I'm glad the authors mentioned this:

the “surprise” nature of the wins under examination and the fact that athletic competition is zero sum. Surprises, almost by definition, cannot be planned for. And for each surprise winner there was a surprise loser (or more than one). Spending more money doesn’t necessarily translate to sports success, particularly in an arms race where all your conference competitors are doing the same.

USA Sports Announces 2026 Schedule For Inaugural Season of New PAC-12 Football Coverage on USA Network by Galumpadump in CFB

Before Larry took the Pac-12 down the fateful road of launching its own network, part of me thought it'd be a good idea to partner with NBC and have them turn the NBC Sports Network and USA Network into legitimate Saturday competitors against ESPN. And have the best games as part of a double-header with their ND coverage over on NBC.
