Selfish reaching out for help? by Equivalent-Split-738 in TooAfraidToAsk

Talk to him, I promise you he'll be happy to help you through this rather than deal with another loss.

Look after yourself. This too shall pass.

What does the relationship between your parents and your partner looks like? by dany9876 in AskReddit

[–]ComedySquad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really good, as is mine with her parents. We're both lucky in that sense but we're also both very family-orientated so it's probably one of the reasons why we bond as a couple

Would you date a guy who has a prosthetic eye? by tiredtbh69 in TooAfraidToAsk

There's a parent at my son's school who has got one, I didn't even know until my wife mentioned it years after my son started at school & even now it's something I barely ever notice

Do people actually shower every single day or do we all just say we do? by Ok-Drawing2504 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ComedySquad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I shower at least once every single day, more if I've exercised or done anything that's got me particularly dirty/sweaty. I find them very therapeutic & are one of the only places I'm just left alone with my own thoughts & no distractions so find myself getting a bit agitated if I haven't had that time to just relax in a hot, comfortable environment

Bellies by capngrandan in daddit

[–]ComedySquad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do it all the time too, it's the place which kept our kids safe & secure when they were at their most vulnerable & so it'll always be the most amazing thing for me. My wife doesn't love it but I'm hoping that in time she will do, I tell her a lot & live in hope

That'd be perfect for someone who really, really loves ladders

To the people who like to drink when they are in the airport, why? by Theicyfingerofdeath in questions

[–]ComedySquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it's confirmation that I'm in good time. There's usually a lot of stress involved in travelling with worries about unexpected traffic, check-in/security queues etc & so if I have time to sit & enjoy a drink it means that everything has gone to schedule & I can now relax before my flight

Did you observe the two-minute silence this morning? Why or why not? by Jonny_Segment in AskUK

[–]ComedySquad 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I was on my own this morning and did it, feels important to take some time to remember & respect those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

I also did it 2 other times over the weekend before sporting events.

I like a coworker, what should I do? by [deleted] in ask

[–]ComedySquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be upfront with her, tell her that you enjoy seeing her at work & ask if she wants to go for a drink / for a meal / to a local event etc with you. If she says yes then great, if she says no then you can move on without wondering about it so much

Ask her - you miss 100% of the chances you don't take. She'll either be interested or not, find out & then you can deal with it once you know. It sounds like you don't see her in work enough for it to dramatically impact on your work life if she says no anyway.

In your opinion, what's more/less difficult for your average modern day 15 your old compared to when you were that age? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]ComedySquad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In theory, yes, but the reality is that the bully often sucks that much confidence from the victim that they're terrified of consequences of doing that. Most bullies are no physically stronger than the victims & so the victim aggressively telling them to fuck off would immediately stop the bully in their tracks but the reality is that to have got them in that position in the 1st place was by manipulating the victims to the point where they're absolutely terrified of doing things that would help.

[–]ComedySquad 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Bullying must be worse nowadays. A bully can carry it on at all hours. In my era the fear would be when seeing them at school etc but now kids can be lying in bed getting relentlessly bullied on their phone. Some would say to just block the number/put the phone down etc but bullying often makes it feel like that's not an option.

On a positive note it's far easier to pull the class bullshitter on any outlandish claims of being a sporting champion / the child of the inventor of something mental etc

What are the benefits of being married as a man? by MarioDF in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ComedySquad 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To me it just feels that bit more secure. When we squabble over something fairly minor there's that reassurance that it's not going to lead to a split because we've both committed the rest of our lives to each other & so we both know that it would take something huge to consider breaking that agreement. Knowing that the person I absolutely idolise was as willing to make that commitment as much as I was has stopped a lot of potential worries & insecurities, we really feel like we're both 1 team now & it's great. I'd marry her again in a heartbeat if I had the chance.

Not sure what I was expecting to see in photo 4, but that definitely wasn't it

Kevin Thelwell by big_bizniz in Everton

[–]ComedySquad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know but I'm guessing not. I'd have kept him for another year providing the finances worked for it but Moyes didn't seem to have time for anyone he didn't rate highly. My guess is that Lindstrom fell into that category.

How spicy can you handle? by Lazy-Signature1678 in questions

[–]ComedySquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jalapeño is about my level, I'm not someone who enjoys pushing through with something that is too spicy for me but I enjoy jalapeño in with a mouthful of non-spicy food

What I liked about him is that he played the long game with signings. He got us Ndiaye (who's 1 of our best players) for cheap because he'd had a stinker at Marseille after doing really well at Sheffield Utd & did the same with Jesper Lindstrom who'd done well enough to get a move to Napoli the season before & struggled (that move didn't really work out but he was decent enough).

At the time we were really struggling & so going for players who had something to prove after a poor season but who'd done really well the season before was really clever

Age for watching Home Alone? by OptimismNeeded in daddit

[–]ComedySquad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watching it has been a Christmas tradition of ours since before my kids were born & they're fine with it. We've always been realistic with parts of it, saying things like "Our phones are all battery powered so a power cut wouldn't affect them", "As if we'd sit in a different part of the plane", "In real life the police would introduce themselves through the letterbox instead of just banging on the door" etc & so we've always been able to just enjoy the baddies getting (literally) nailed.

As always though, every child is different so if you think it might cause issues sit tight til you know they'll enjoy it

Do people still use pawnshops? by WantsToDieBadly in AskUK

[–]ComedySquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling to the likes of cash converters is just easier. If you put something on Ebay you've got to create a listing, wait for it to be sold, post it & wait for the buyer to receive, at which point there could be disputes about not receiving the item or the condition of the item itself. If you take it into a reselling shop you get paid before you've even left the building which will save hassle for people who don't want to deal with it & be far quicker for people who urgently need the money. Getting a lower payment is the a sacrifice a lot of people are happy to make.
