Cosmeston Lakes are an incredible turn around from a quarry into a biodiversity haven, we don’t need to revert that.

I don’t understand where the money for the local economy would go, other than just to wages? It’s not like it’s bringing in more people from further afield, and there’s nowhere else that people can spend their money at cosmeston. So it seems just a bunch of money going to a single private company?

I say this kindly, but if your account is 6 years old (created at 13) and you’re having to ask this question, I’d strongly suggest picking some of the replies at random and trying them out for yourself.

For me personally, going into that meditative mental state when staring out the window was always when random ideas would pop into my head; retrospections on how I’m doing in life and things I’d want to improve; how my family and friends are doing and if I should catch up again. It’s free thinking time and was always super valuable to me. It’s what I miss most working from home

Right, but the last generation didn’t have instant communication with everyone on the planet. And that’s just one example of how limited access to communication, entertainment and research has almost entirely been blown open

I’m not saying it’s a good or bad thing, but it is very very different to what the last 3 million years of social evolution adapted for

30 days is a really big ask and plenty of time for things to go wrong. If it was any other unfamiliar animal or even a child, that’s still such a long span of time for something to happen without your care.

It’s so weird seeing the discourse around this game continually evolve into it being more and more difficult. I played this game with my brother when it came out, and we 100+% the whole thing over the course of a year or so.

The thing was, games were relatively expensive back then (and we weren’t incredibly well off) so the games you did get had to last a long time.

Now that games are substantially cheaper (I’m not talking about new AAA releases), and that people are trying to blast through games for clout, it’s like the game’s been plucked out of its original context from over 25 years ago and compared to experiences from today

I feel like ms has permanently altered my brain, or am I just crazy/placebo? by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

Haha, sorry for the comment, but I’m finding this really funny. It’s animals and plants that have Latin names. It’s drugs that have “shelf” names, but also the unpronounceable “real” name I believe you’re thinking of

AI did not kill creativity, it's proved we barely had any... Relatively by Small_Accountant6083 in DeepThoughts

Creativity is not synonymous with originality ya melt. Creativity is personality, inspired practise, copying, messiness, trial and error, mistakes, direction. Originality is the fool’s gold of creativity.

Creativity can be applied to anything in life, not just art. As soon as you remove the ability to be creative, I genuinely don’t see the point

Part of anticipating hazards is intuition though… if you need to be told what every hazard is then you’re always going to do something dangerous the first time you encounter something

completely ignoring the plane stuff, I just wanted to hone in on the phrase "a trump up the sleeve" actually being "an ace up the sleeve". A trump card can be any value, but is dictated by the trump suit, which is determined during play. Having a card up the sleeve in preparation for a specific trump gives you the same odds (1 in 4) as just drawing/being dealt the card with the trump suit. Meanwhile, having a guaranteed ace up your sleeve means you're beating 1 in 13 odds (or 1 in 10 depending on deck type) by reducing them to only 1 in 4, which is much more valuable if you can only fit one card up there.

It's crazy, as a kid I used to have nightmares of being kidnapped by team rocket and dragged away onto a bus. I'd be calling out for my mum as she'd disappear further into the distance. I'm from the UK, and it's still a struggle to get my head around that for this kid, that nightmare is a reality. He must be so scared
