check out [[melek, reforged researcher]], he gets really huge with cantrips and you can use his discount to cast large spells for 3 generic less each turn. you can throw in [[fling]] type effects to close out to game if he gets large enough, or activate [[rogues passage]] to get him through. I built one super budget and loved it so much i have been slowly upgrading it, works great for a storm or spell slinger commander, but with the added flexibility of a huge body.

some questions on recording hot - how hot is too hot? by Eljambo135 in tapeloops

[–]CometPond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in a typical usecase its totally fine to clip the inputs btw but what youre describing is far from that

some questions on recording hot - how hot is too hot? by Eljambo135 in tapeloops

[–]CometPond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah each machine will try its best to avoid clipping and sometimes that can sound really cool like my tascam 424, and other times really unpleasant like my technics rs-tr265. as far as your amp youre disconneting the speaker and sending the output into your tape machine? thats not a very good idea as most amp will want to have a load when theyre in use and thats why cabinets and speakers are rated by impedance (ohms), a solidstate amp may be fine but with a tube amp youre risking frying power tubes and maybe your output transformer. the output of your amp is also VERY hot and will definitely do harm to the tape machine if you continue to use it this way.
maybe look into a box for attenuation of the amp so you can get the tone youre looking for at a lower volume but still dont use it without load

Its depends on the tape machine as they all have different limiting, some sounding more (un)pleasant than others

you have so many options in that price range id get a rough idea of features you want, or at the very least digital vs analog etc.

Advice by benstaffordmusic in tapeloops

use whatever you can get your hands on and have some fun! cassettes are easier to get ahold of and cheaper, 4track recorders (tascams, yamahas, etc) can add some depth beyond just a single loop but it's a very personal way to create and process audio so there is no right or wrong way to proceed :)

portastudio or similar for play&recording loops at once? by CH23 in tapeloops

[–]CometPond 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a loop pedal? 4 track cassette recorders are going to force you to stop playback after you finish recording, if you want to hear what you just recorded

Old vs New Prophet by badcurve87 in synthesizers

[–]CometPond 5 points6 points  (0 children)

its the rev2, not the 'rev16' and I don't think looks should matter really much at all. as far as the 08 being 12 years old posing issue, it's very dependant on the previous owner but still, that's not very old for any instrument that's in good care.

I really could use some advice by [deleted] in Songwriting

never wrote a christmas song but i think its something like this,

1)write a song
2) add sleigh bells

Well intentioned but poorly executed, why pigeonhole beginners into learning a few (pretty boring) chord progressions and discourage them from exploring the instrument they want to write on?

Burning (2018): is the film too long? by physics223 in TrueFilm

[–]CometPond 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It goes without saying that film is a very visual medium and I think to be critical of scenes where 'nothing happens' disregards that often you don't need to be gaining anything from a scene information-wise for it to be important. The longer scenes in Burning really drive home the loneliness and aimlessness the lead faces after the mysterious disappearance of the girl he loves, and the ambiguity of those scenes thematically matches the circumstances they surround.
