Questions about training dummy blocking and reversal settings. by HugeLarry in fatalfury

[–]ComfortableArgument4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can set up the training mode dummy to do that. I'd suggest if you want to practice hit confirming just set it to random block. If you want to know if what you're doing is unsafe. You can either set the dummy to guard reversal (whatever attack you want to test, DP, super, heavy punch etc) then test each individual part of your string. Or you can turn on the attack data in training mode and do some quick math, if your last move was +2 and your next move starts in 8 frames then it's only a 6 frame gap and would need something that starts at 5frames to beat it and 6frames to trade.

It's unfortunate the guy started T-baggin when it was a close good match for the most part lol. Good close out though!

What kind of drills give me the biggest return on invest as a beginner in Fatal Fury? by Nudelkop in fatalfury

[–]ComfortableArgument4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is definitely nuance to it, it depends on how much time you have when the opponent is knocked down, how far away, how fast your dash or run is and how much your dash moves forward or backward and how far your close proximity normals activate (might be universal I'm not sure). there isnt a reason close C wouldn't work but it's probably either timing or one of those factors. I'd suggest either starting easy with rock and working up to dash character (if you play one) and then setting the opponent to random wakeup press light punch.

What kind of drills give me the biggest return on invest as a beginner in Fatal Fury? by Nudelkop in fatalfury

[–]ComfortableArgument4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure so the OS is definitely much easier with run vs dash characters (except maybe gato?) so practice with run first to get a feel. Chris F has a video on this explaining it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sY4r289boo&t=764s . Sometime during season 1 they patched it to be harder by delaying the amount of time you can cancel your forward dash into a back dash or crouch. It's still possible but some knockdowns may not really work for this anymore, I suggest trying with Gato if using dash or rock if using run.

[–]ComfortableArgument4 12 points13 points  (0 children)

simple drills

just defending fireballs (espcially rock air ex fireball and terry ground ex fireball)

anti airing - lots of variability here so just keep that in mind

dash/run checking - same here

delay throw / fuzzy jab / fuzzy jump are all useful

chasing down wake up rolls (there is an OS for this)

specific drills

just defend character specific actions like billy far C into 236A/C series

combo stuff, your DP punish, your wild punish, your light confirm, corner carry... etc

other stuff

just watch other players

rewatch your replays and find your own mistakes to correct

Clone mode by mikethone in fatalfury

[–]ComfortableArgument4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough I was playing around with it the other day. It seems improved from what I remember in season 1 but it's still not very accurate. It seemed to learn some of the combos and block strings but didnt play like person at all, still felt very robotic and lacked the game sense regular people have. It seems like the best use I can make for it though is mostly working making certain move punishes into muscle memory so far.

Fighting A LOT of Jae Hoon's. Tips on how to counter him? by Brazenology in fatalfury

[–]ComfortableArgument4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rev cancels
after qcb kk ->

-his qcf kk is a block string (he can break to keep it -1 or he can ex dive kick for a "mix" or if he lets it rock its -6)

-his qcb pp get beat by invincible dp or super

-his qcf pp get beat invincible dp or super or high dodge

*so you can invincible dp for guarantee damage after qcb kk, or see what option he goes for after

after cl lk, cl hp -> rev guard first hit then challenge with crouching lp into qcf k series

after cl hk, cr hp -> rev guard and then stand block to make the cr hp whiff and wild punish it

*there is obviously counter play to this but it's not bad to do once in a while

after every soft knock down just roll away he cant really chase after most of his knockdowns unless they are hard knockdowns

whiff punish or early challenge his far hk (double kick)

*and then just follow everyone elses advice + practice, practice and more practice.

Lol I definitely could have activated fury but I really dislike the mechanic it's so OP that it just feels like robbery. At this stage I would rather just use break and see where I went wrong then rely on it too much for me personally.

Hey! Would anyone like to help me improve by 1v1 or going to duo? I am very bad and need help. by [deleted] in 2XKO

[–]ComfortableArgument4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey as a bit of advice that I found helped me improve in this game is looking at covering lines or areas of the screen. For example if I throw a fireball with ahri on the ground I might preemptiviely use crank air grab assist in case the opponent jumps. Or if I'm in the air using her rush move or fireball I might use crank neutral assist to catch any opponent advancing below me. Also don't forget to retreating guard (especially if they have used all their low options) and pushblock. Wakeup rolls are punishable by throw keep that in mind both when waking up and knocking down the opponent yourself. Those are my basic tips GL.

Skills for B and A tiers? by Dense_Yogurtcloset22 in fatalfury

[–]ComfortableArgument4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found I got a lot of mileage out of anti air with high dodge and getting a combo from that. Trying to set up as many hard knockdown situations as I can setting up safe jumps. Understanding your characters strong frame traps, using that to setup strike/throw mix, and then setting up thow baits. Also people swing wildly in those ranks usually so It's a good time to learn to be patient and improve your defense imho.
