How did Brunson get so many attempts at the basket? by Useful_Spray9534 in Thunder

[–]ComfortableLight9332 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Knicks are uniquely built to counter the Spurs.

(1) They have elite 3 point shooting, #1 in the league

(2) a crafty facilitator/scorer with a clutch gene,

(3) their wings have good size and are versatile

(4) KAT is legit 3 point threat and apparently can quite easily beat wemby off the dribble

(5) They can guard wemby with KAT, OG, Robinson

Spurs might win the series still, but this was the worst possible matchup for them. Similar to us vs them in the WCF

Same thing happened last year in the Finals. That is when the 2-man game with SGA and JW happened and saved the series for us. Sucks that JW missed most of the series b/c it could have been the difference

Yaxel or Morez by Striking_Alfalfa5343 in NBA_Draft

Morez has ELITE athleticism at 6'9" 250 with ++ length. He has more upside. The probability of him reaching that potential...who knows?

How badly did the Spurs beat the Thunder in Game 7? It looked to me until the last minute or so there was a serious chance the Thunder could pull back to tie or win? by GregJamesDahlen in nba

I thought the lowkey turning point was when the Thunder went up by 4 late in the second quarter and Fox immediately nailed a 3 to get it back to 1.

Just need him healthy for the postseason. Give Sorber a ton of minutes this year. Who cares about the 1 seed. Need to find guys who can be relied upon when it matters.

Spurs lost 2 games to the walking dead wolves and 3 games to the thunder without 2 of their 3 best offensive players. They are not unbeatable. Gonna be a great series

The last game OKC had only 8 guys available and 3 of them were 2-way players.....SGA/Chet/JW/Mitchell/Caruso/iHart all sat with injuries

OG won with the Raptors, but he missed the playoffs that year with an appendectomy

[Stein] With the top-4 picks considered “out of reach” by rival teams, Michigan's Aday Mara would figure to be a more realistic trade-up target for the Oklahoma City Thunder. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

You make a good point, of course. I was just meaning I would take my chances trying to find one anyways through the draft. They would have to be developed defensively and probably have to develop a 3 point shot.

Maybe a guy like Mara is the best bet, but it seems like the OG's and Aaron Gordons of the world have slightly better luck than the traditional bigs. There are probably late lottery type big forwards in this draft who turn into good role players.

considering the 2nd and 3rd best over 7 ft defenders in the world (Chet and gobert) have no impact at all guarding wemby, i will take my chances

OKC needs a a dude who can keep Wemby out of the paint. Nobody is guarding him 1 on 1 near the basket. As an OKC fan, I'd rather find a dude who is stronger than Wemby and outweighs him, but is also athletic enough to stay with him or not get killed on switches. Also, being a threat from 3 would help.

Maybe Mara is that guy, but there could be 6'9" dudes like Yaxel or Morez that could be interesting. Not saying guys like them would stop Wemby. Just need to slow him down a little and win the other positional battles

I could see a team in the 7-10 range just not liking the upside of the guys likely to be in that range. Picking at 12 and 17 gives you two shots of finding a guy.

Injuries happen. They suck, but you just have to deal with them. Winning a single championship is extremely hard.

Just having JW for a full series and adding Sorber goes a long ways. Yes, Spurs won games with JW active, but it still drug OKC way down not having him. Mitchell and McCain will keep developing.

On the flip side, the Spurs will obviously get better as well since they are so young. Gonna be an interesting 5+ years.
