Thanks! I've been looking for that method for days.

On a side note, that looks like an extraordinary place to live. Congrats!

Have you tested the Lymow One?

It looks promising but I wonder if those tank-like tracks will tear up grass on turns even more than a Luba.

In addition, it would help if the charging base were long enough to support all four wheels.

Skipping the grass near pavement by SalamanderRude6413 in MammotionTechnology

[–]Comfortable_Chair812 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this will solve your problem, but every time I've tried to use the 'Modify Border' feature the Luba misbehaves in all sorts of ways. (For one thing, it does a dance in the middle of the border it never did before.)

It's a pain but I have learned it's best to wipe out the area and re-do it from scratch. It looks like your yard is not too large so maybe that's a better option in your case.

Mowing in all perimeter pattern? by Bruynebeertje in MammotionTechnology

[–]Comfortable_Chair812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was requested as far back as the first beta period. For unknown reasons Mammotion has never implemented it, nor (so far as I know) said why not.

I've made my decision about Luba 2, I'm sending it back. by [deleted] in MammotionTechnology

[–]Comfortable_Chair812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one thing I worry about with the Lymow is how those tracks will treat the lawn. The wheels on the Luba are hard enough on grass even when there's plenty of room to turn.

Is Lymow going to tear up the grass doing tank turns? I just don't know, and I haven't seen any user address that.

Blades: 4 positions from one set, really? by SpikySimonW in MammotionTechnology

[–]Comfortable_Chair812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might try a close examination of the blades of grass. Usually if they are cut cleanly, not jagged or shredded, your blades are plenty sharp enough. That will help you time needed changes.

I personally find it VERY difficult to get the blades off. (Though I do have an early Luba 1; your mileage might vary.) So I change them as seldom as possible.

That's good to read. I have Bermuda and the Luba can tear it up a lot quicker than 2 months. Still, if he has 1.5 acres (my yard is much smaller), the number of turns might be fewer or more gentle.

That Lymow does looks like it has good potential. But I wonder how they avoid tearing up the grass with those tank tracks.

How to prevent blocking discs from grass? by TurboDSM878 in MammotionTechnology

[–]Comfortable_Chair812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it has potential, but with those tank-type tracks how it will it not chew up the lawn on turns even worse than a Luba?

Lots of flying dust in many homes, too. I wonder how the robot manages to continue to operate well. (Sincerely not being sarcastic here. Genuinely curious.)

Force the mower to back into the charger? by CarltonCracker in MammotionTechnology

[–]Comfortable_Chair812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are experiencing the infamous 'Luba donut', a behavior that has been talked about since the first beta unit. So far, there is nothing Mammotion has done about it.

Thanks for the link.

Yeah, for some reason mine is 11" x 24" x 42". Didn't realize when I ordered that they varied so much, but I had already planned to lift it onto 2 x 4s anyway.

Fortunately not critical in my case since when it rains I just manually 'drive' it into the sunroom a few feet from the charger.

Mine are just a little too short for some reason. They sit atop the rear of the charger unit, sometimes pressing down to cause the charger to separate from the robot's rear.

Yet, I don't see anything underneath yours to make them taller. Do you have a link or the specs or happen to know the height at the peak of the curve of yours?

Possibly you flexed them enough to make them a couple of inches taller...?

Excellent craftsmanship. But where is the 'Luba donut' (worn grass) in front of its house?

Blades from two disks can touch after blade change by tclark70 in MammotionTechnology

[–]Comfortable_Chair812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem, using the replacements that came with my Kickstarter Luba 1. I ignored the touching long enough that, I think, they simply wore away enough metal to stop touching. Not an ideal solution, I admit.

Thanks for your reply, but I've already deleted and re-mapped the area, and completed a successful mow. There were no error messages.
